  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 12:28 PM) People saying this is some awful offseason aren't dealing in reality. They made quite a few substantial improvements. That said, what is so frustrating to me is that it WAS a pretty good offseason, and they left themselves just one major hole short that would have made it a really good offseason. That makes no sense. Why go most of the way? When Fowler was obviously so affordable? That does piss me off. Voice of reason. Everything in this post is 100% true. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 12:28 PM) Or could it be the fact that they are truly done? I really don't know at this point but what I do know is they have officially pissed me off. Could be, but I doubt that. Everything that Hahn has said is that they are still looking for an upgrade.
  2. We could all forget about this if we can get Josh Reddick from the A's. He would be a great get.
  3. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 12:11 PM) Good lord, what an awful offseason. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 12:13 PM) I don't give a f*** what the reason is, Sox fans have the right to be pissed off about this. QUOTE (gosoxgo2005 @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 12:16 PM) What a terrible offseason is correct. Can't fault guys that want to play where their heart is i.e Gordon, Cespedes and now Fowler. Money doesn't always talk. If we get an upgrade in the outfield before the start of the season, this is still a really good off season. If we don't get an OF, then this off season is confusing and wasting another year of the core.
  4. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 12:11 PM) Good lord, what an awful offseason. We don't have to worry about the Cubs until the WS. If Sox could get an outfielder via trade, still think we've had a good off season.
  5. 8 million in year 1 with a 5 million buyout. Mutual option at 9 million in the 2nd year.
  6. QUOTE (daggins @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 11:40 AM) Reddick would probably require Jacob May + a pitcher not named Fulmer or Adams. I am down with that.
  7. Dexter Fowler just resigned with the Cubs lmao.
  8. QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 11:22 AM) Hahn was just on ESPN1000. They expect to add before opening day. Cargo? Bruce? Venable? Jackson? Something will happen. It might not be a popular move, but I don't think they're done. Can you get an exact quote? If not, thanks for the comment. I just hope they still add an OFer, and split DH between Avi and LaRoche.
  9. QUOTE (Dunt @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 11:11 AM) Coghlan would've been a nice addition for virtually no cost Exactly what I was thinking. Ugh
  10. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 11:07 AM) Probably not. Let's just name an off season winner and crown them. Last year the Jaguars signed a bunch of the big name free agents. They win on to win the Super Bowl, they beat the Eagles, the other team to sign a ton of free agents. I trust Pace and Fox over the Jags front office and Chip Kelly
  11. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 11:02 AM) Jon Morosi ‏@jonmorosi 30s30 seconds ago #Cubs trade Chris Coghlan to #Athletics for RHP Aaron Brooks. Thought Coghlan could have more value than that.
  12. Farhan Lalji ‏@FarhanLaljiTSN 6m6 minutes ago Hearing that #Blackhawks have serious interest in Hamhuis & Vrbata. No word yet on whether Hamhuis is willing to waive NTC. #Canucks
  13. QUOTE (shipps @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 10:25 AM) I am with you on that but the ultimate goal is the superbowl with the hope to be contenders every year. I am willing to give up two and maybe even three seasons to build a powerhouse through the draft. But that is no guarantee that they will hit on the draft picks so I am good either way. The Bears appear to at the very least moving in the right direction and operating as a legit franchise should. Exactly. Just look at what the Browns and Jags have done recently. Bears are not them. I definitely trust the process that Pace and Fox have instilled so far.
  14. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 10:06 AM) I'm not trying to make this a Bears/Packers thing. I just think the Vikings and Packers have more talent. I think the Vikings defense will be one of the better in the league and I think the Packers offense will go back to being top 5 next year. They no doubt have better talent right now, but the Bears can get it better, right? The Bears were fairly successful in brand new systems on offense and defense, especially defense where they might not of had the right personal.
  15. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 09:59 AM) Problem the Bears have is they are behind two teams in their own division. They would need one of those teams to have a really bad year to pass them. Again, I disagree big time. The Bears beat the Packers on Thanksgiving night when they honored Bart Starr and Brett Favre. With a good off season, players developing, and Cutler puts up similar numbers to last year, the Bears could win the division next year.
  16. Lemming just tweeted that if Trevathan hits the open market, the Bears have a very good shot at him.
  17. QUOTE (shipps @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 09:26 AM) After thinking about the Bears situation I dont know if I would be mad if they traded Bennett and did a sign and trade with Alshon to gather a couple of early draft picks. This team is still at least two years away from competing for a super bowl and likley three years. Big picture would look better if they had a ton of picks and developed the team knowing there would be another season of growing pains next season. Now this day and age there really isnt the luxury of time in building a team and having so many down years but if they made those two moves I would be excited that they had a shrewd plan and the balls to follow through. Definitely disagree about being 2-3 years away. If things even go above average next year, Bears can win 10 games next year. With a good free agency class, good draft class, other players developing off of last year, and one of the easiest schedules in the league could make for a promising year. Bears have a pretty good offense to build around with Langford, Jeffery, White, Saluson and Long to go along with good complimentary pieces. The Bears were competitive last year and lost multiple games but one score or less. With more speed and athleticism brought to this team, Bears can make more noise next year. John Fox and Ryan Pace didn't come here to have a 4 year rebuild. Bears can compete next year and years to come based on this off season alone.
  18. I don't know if you guys saw this, but Gase said yesterday that the Bears almost drafted DaVante Parker instead of Kevin White at #7 last year. Said it was neck and neck.
  19. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 08:42 AM) Bears will have around $65 million in space with a Bennett trade. Could get near $70 million if they wanted to slice Gould and Rolle. Yeah, Bears are in really good shape to overhaul their defense and OL through free agency and the draft with how much cap space and 9 picks (could be more). I'm very excited for this Bears off season. #1 priority is sign Jeffery to a long term deal #2 priority sign Trevathan
  20. Got about 2 inches yesterday. Nothing bad at all. All of it will probably melt this weekend when it's suppose to be in the mid 50s
  21. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 24, 2016 -> 10:20 PM) Not sure if he's put it here but Leming has mentioned TE Dwayne Allen, S Rodney McLeod, and OG Brandon Brooks as targets as well. Yes, you are correct. With the expected release of Bennett and Rolle, the Bears could still afford those 6 players and still have room to get a couple more guys. Remember, last year Bears had half the cap space and signed 3 guys to multi year deals.
  22. Brad Biggs ‏@BradBiggs 1m1 minute ago #Bears will enter "dangerous water" that is free agency where #Browns FS Tashaun Gipson could interest them: http://trib.in/1oBRcAQ So far this off season, Bears have been linked to Gipson, Trevathan, and Janoris Jenkins.
  23. Rumors that Damonte Williams (Frank Williams son) has intentions to commit to Illinois. However, with Groce's future up in the air, making him think twice.
  24. So, where do the Sox stand on picks now that Gallardo and Fowler have signed with the O's? Answered my own question. Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 50s51 seconds ago #Orioles' 2 additions have moved up #WhiteSox 2nd & 3rd picks to 27 and 48, respectively. Also pick 10th. Bonus pool increases, too.
