I might get blasted for this, but what about De Aza? Mets looking to trade him, he for sure will come cheap. Can platoon him with Avi. Sure, he doesn't upgrade the overall defense, but he's still a decent hitter.

Outside of Tiley and George, Whitman was the next best choice. Great hire. Boom or bust type of guy imo because of his minimal experience, but he loves Illinois and has a huge ceiling for what he could do with Illinois athletics.
