  1. Yay! I don't have to be at work til 3:30, so I'll definitely tune in to the first hour of the show.
  2. hsc, You seem to be in "the loop" regarding Sox front office stuff. Do you have any ideas about any trades that might be happening?
  3. I always heard CUBS stands for Chicago's Underdeveloped Baseball Squad...LOL!
  4. Well, this is going to be the final Sox season where I won't have a car, so after this season, I hope to make it to at least 10 games a year (thank God for half price mondays and tuesdays). Until then, I can only go to maybe 3 or 4 games a year.
  5. That's just one trait that splits Sox fans from Cubs fans.
  6. Eh, Indiansrule...All the little chicks with the crimson lips go "Cleveland Sucks! Cleveland Sucks!" Your ass is going to be in the same predicament as you were in the earlier portion of the 90s!!! And will the Jake look just as destitute as your former stadium? Really, Cleveland sports fans have the fewest things to croak about, as they haven't as a city won anything SINCE THE 1940S!!! Go crawl under a rug, s***head! Cuz we'll be walking all over you again, and damn, you're going to love it!!! You'll just have the pleasure of knowing that you got your ass kicked by a superior city!
  7. Welcome back, JB!!! Totally missed your presence, and am looking forward to hearing more of your rants on SNR. You are forever a legend in my book. fyi, you'll have to find someone other than my husband to dog this year, cuz he's going to be kicking some major ass!
  8. Here's hoping that your birthday is wonderful, and that you get a great belated gift in late October! Go off on politics if you want, and maybe you'll get to meet George Bush...LOL! Have a blast today...Just don't get too near RPS's cat!
  9. Bullard, This is the first time I'm checking this thread, but I've been a long time poster with these guys! Let me be the next to welcome you here! I wish nothing but the best for you guys in Birmingham this coming season, and will be looking forward to seeing you all in the big club! One note: I've seen Neal Cotts pitch myself, as I currently am a Junior at Illinois State University, which meant that I was a Freshman when Cotts was a junior, his last year here at ISU. You are going to like what you're going to see from him. Tell him that I said "hi." If he doesn't remember me, just tell him that I went to about 20 games in 2001, and my RA was Andrea White, the baseball team's physical trainer. Thanks, and take care! Keep coming back and join in on the fun!
  10. The weeds drowned out any sunlight from the skies, so the Cubs sucked so bad this year!
  11. Ok guys, I thought it might be a good idea at midnight Chicago time the night before we open up in KC to hold a prayer service for good health this season in the Soxnet chat room. We want this year to go without a hitch, and prayer will help. I'll be your reverand too!
  12. I'll pretend I didn't read this... Hopefully, he won't, & we'll see the return of "El Caballo"! And then I'll direct a movie about it and force RPS to do commentary!!!
  13. Damaso Marte was showing flashes of brilliance last year, and I think this will be the year his name becomes known league-wide. He's the key to the pen, IMO.
  14. You know, the thing I absolutely LOVE about Cubs fans though, is that they don't know about baseball! So you can tell them anything you want, and they'll believe you, and then go and tell their friends the "baseball knowledge" you just departed onto them! Then they look like the idiots they are! I do that a lot with my Cub fan friends!
  15. He could play there in a bind, but it wouldn't be pretty. I seem to remember him playing in CF a few times in 2001 when they were experimenting with Jose in the OF, putting Jose in RF. From what I recall, he didn't have the greatest arm to get it in from deep center. You need the OFer with the best throwing arm in CF, as the distance to the plate is longer. I don't think Maggs in CF is a really good idea.
  16. Cool! I'll have a name to you sometime soon.
  17. Speaking of Rowand, have you heard anything about how his situation is progressing?
  18. If the rumors that Jerry Manuel all but guaranteed Daubach a roster spot are true, I don't think there will be any space on the Roster for Borchard. I think Borchard will start the season on the farm, and maybe by the All Star break, if it appears as if one of our OFers is incompetent, then he'll get the callup.
  19. I guess that I think the youngun who will have the biggest impact will be Jon Garland. I'm expecting a lot from him this year. He displayed some very promising leather last season, especially down the stretch of the season. I think that his one start in Boston last May really displays his capabilities. My expectations of him is to win 14-16 games this year, which, being the #3 starter in our rotation, will make us go far this season! Jon Garland's name is going to be more prevalent in league talk after all is said and done this year.
  20. This is an open-ended question, not a poll...Which young player do you think will have the most impact on the Sox success this year?
  21. Little Big League is a cute movie. It has several shots in Comiskey Park, including a scene at the Stadium Club Restaurant (oh that is the greatest place to eat ever!!! I love eating there.). Did you know that they actually taped the Yankee Stadium scene at Comiskey Park?
  22. BTW, Jason...Is there anyway I can change my user name here and not lose any of my posts, kind of like what RPS did with Mike South a while back? I really want to lose the "Redbird" part, and change it to something different.
  23. I have decided to quit Red Rage, which is the fan club here on campus, and focus on the three most important things in one's college life: school, work, and friends. Red Rage has driven me away. They show no originality whatsoever, and their chants are rather trite. I'd rather be sitting in my dorm room watching the Hawks, Bears, Sox, and Bulls (PROFESSIONAL sports) rather than college sports sitting there with people who are clueless as to what TRUE sporting event conduct is. 75% of Red Ragers aren't from the Chicago area, and 90% of them haven't even been to a professional sporting game, thus they don't know what a REAL sporting event is about. I guess what I'm trying to say is that college sports don't interest me much anymore. Hell, my "rah rah" attitude towards ISU is dipping lower and lower as the days pass. I guess part of it is that I only have one more semester left here after this...I'm approaching the time I leave here. And I won't be coming down here to visit once I get outta here. Sorry for the long rant!
