White Sox @ Blue Jays 6:07 PM: Kopech (1-1 1.29 ERA) vs Ryu (2-0 5.48 ERA)
Well we know Robert still isn't 100% per himself, and Pollock was also apparently under the weather yesterday. Obviously Yoan has the leg issue. So that's 3/4 bench guys yesterday, so comment is valid. Just hadn't heard anything about Leury.

Conforto would be lucky to get something like 2 years $20M after the draft. Something like $5M for the balance of 2022 to rehab with the team and perhaps join the squad late and $15M for 23. I doubt he's doing better than that, so not really sure Correa's contract is remotely relevant here.

Is Leury dinged by the way? Three straight games on the bench while Harrison continues to flail away at the plate is a bit of a head scratcher. If SS is Mendick's for the moment, Leury should definitely be playing 2B over Harrison most days.

Do the White Sox Make the Playoffs?
Somehow, Fangraphs still has the Sox as a healthy favorite to win the central 49.4% vs 41.4% for the Twins. This somehow improved from 47.7%/45.7%, respectively, yesterday. Perhaps the TA news? Seems like a strange swing in one day. 64.4% chance to make the playoffs included a 14.9% chance at a WC. https://www.fangraphs.com/standings/playoff-odds

TLR 2022 Thread
Really hoping the "good play" comment was with respect to the defense making a good play to get him at 2B. Not Mendick. But of course, this is TLR we're talking about, so common sense goes out the door.

Sure. He’s just not a talented offensive player. Likely the worst on the club. He’s a big leaguer strictly because he can play defense well at multiple Infield positions. There is no good reason to lead him off.

Let's win this one, please boys. Need to find a way to go 3-3 on this road trip.

Mendick has 34 MLB PA in 22. What he has done is mostly irrelevant. Engel is by far the best option against LHP. Things a bit more murky against RHP, but Yoan is probably the guy to lead off when (if ever) healthy.

In absolutely zero event should Danny Mendick bat anything but 8th or 9th. If Robert has to DH tonight and no Yoan, here is what I would roll with: Engel CF, Vaughn LF, Robert DH, Abreu 1B, Burger 3B, Pollock RF, Grandal C, Mendick SS, Leury 2B

Definitely not opposed to that, but should definitely be a 2 year deal if they did that. They’ll need a lefty bat next season too. gotta wait til after draft tho.

That one hurts. Another winnable game given away.

I am in no way defending Grandals 2022 performance. He’s been awful. But he was worth his contract plus a good amount in years 1 and 2 of his deal.

You don’t even wanna know.

Why you’d ever walk Harrison is beyond me. But we’ll take it!

Truth is, injuries have basically insured Gavin continues to get opportunities. Once (if) they get healthy, he’s back in Charlotte. Dude has three option years - let’s use em. We don’t need to send him to the moon. That should have always been the plan. Gavin as Plan A was such an awful decision.

He didn’t even have value before this season. If he had, he’d have been traded.

I approve of this start

Cease and Graveman to Restricted List; Crick Up
Jeff Cohen says that Jimmy Lambert is in TOR with the club and will likely be activated as Cease replacement on Thursday.

I think you gotta DH Burger over Sheets at this point. Sheets has been sooooooo bad. He had one 3 game stretch where he hit a homer each game, otherwise he's been DREADFUL. This coming from the guy that wanted to add lefty bats as bad as anyone this offseason, but you cannot just keep running Gavin out there. Especially in the OF like tonight. Once Eloy is back, I just don't see any room for Gavin on this roster.

Eloy rehab starts again 6/21
Yeah, that's fair. Eloy is going to get hurt. I've accepted that. We just need to hope to avoid major injuries. If he plays 120+ games in a season one of the next few years, I'd be pleasantly surprised. Just happy it was not a major set back, and hopefully we can get Eloy's bat in the DH spot for the majority of the final 60% of the season. And hopefully he actually hits.

TA out 3 weeks
The dude got carried off without putting weight on his leg. Plenty of reason to be extremely concerned. Seems as though we may get as close to a best case scenario as reasonably expected. Which is fanfuckingtastic and much needed news. Doesn't change the fact that there is a multitude of things to be extremely concerned about with this team and its management, which JGB cannot ever seen to wrap his head around. They've been awful 30% of the way thru the season, with no signs of turning it around. Not exactly a cute little sample size any longer.
