  1. Who is the executive committee besides Lindor, Scherzer and Cole?
  2. Now sign Michael fucking Conforto tonight.
  3. Letsssss gooooo
  4. Maybe they should put less superstars with mega contracts on the executive board. Who couldn’t imagined this series conflict of interest.
  5. This. Needed to be productive this week and next knowing half to day and all of Thur and Fri next week are shot. This isn't helping.
  6. Well that's good news. So we're back to the players being greedy fucks if we don't have a deal today and the rumored final offer from MLB on the CBT, min salary and pre-arb pool were accurate.
  7. I don't think they add another good, reliable SP to be honest. The rotation is full. Lopez, Stiever and Lambert will fill in as needed when Kopech needs a break. I expect they'll add a cheap vet off the FA scrap heap to give Keuchel some competition and an additional fallback option.
  8. Whats the point of arguing about what got us to this point? We are where we are. Who cares what happened or didn't happen in November or January or last week. Its frankly irrelevant.
  9. Soooooo are the owners expected to counter yet again today? This all seems so solvable at this point. Continue to repeat it but players need to realize they're going to need to agree to $50M max on pre arb pool or there is not going to be a season for awhiiiiilllleee. CBT differences almost look like a nothing burger at this point.
  10. If you want to assume all the leaks are complete bullshit, sure. IF you assume its not and the CBT is up to $230M increasing to $240M range in 5 years, pre-arb pool up to $40M, player salaries up to $700k and increasing ~$15-25k a year, which are all things that have been widely reported. I think its safe to say the players are being greedy fucks at this point. Could it all be a ploy in the media to turn the narrative and MLB is still where they were a week ago in Florida on all these stances? Sure, theoretically possible. But I doubt that is the case. Players have hit a stand up triple and they're going to the inside the parker with no outs.
  11. Woof. This isn't getting solved today. Players are being greedy. Sorry for those that disagree, but they've got a really good deal on the table here. Once far far far better than the existing CBA.
  12. Yeah I hear ya but in terms of things I am concerned about, that is about the bottom of the barrel. Do agree there is some potential for funny business if the process isn't changed.
  13. Wonder what players counter offer was. Hopefully they just took their gains on the CBT and offered something reasonable like $50M on the bonus pool. Otherwise this isn't getting solved today. Still really like the concept of using CBT tax dollars to go towards pre-arb bonus pool on top of $40 or $50M base amount. Seems like a great compromise.
  14. Its been stated that Players who finish top 2 in ROY get full years of service, and teams who have players who finish in top of ROY races that started the year on the MLB roster get bonus draft picks. I'd say those two things help curb service time manipulation.
  15. I mean over the last 10 days the owners have more than met the players in the middle on the core economic issues.
  16. Well neither side was going to blink until the calendar forced some decisions, so while I get the PA was trying to negotiate, they were also asking for an awful lot, so not surprised the owners didn't just hand it over. Its all kind of classic negotiating. No one is going to make their best offer until they have to.
  17. Sounds like once deal is formally agreed to transaction freeze is over. But who knows how long it takes to get from agreed in principal to formally agreed. I’d guess like 24 hours.
  18. Here is an idea I talked to my dad about that I really like. Set the pre-arb pool at $40M. But 50% of all CBT taxes from teams that exceed go into the pool. I'd say 100%, but not exactly sure where those dolalrs go currently, so I am sure someone isn't likely to want to give it all up. Seems like a great compromise for both sides.
  19. Start runner on 2nd in the 12th inning. Give it 2 innings to finish organically. 7 inning double headers are complete trash tho.
  20. Unless I missed something overnight, this seems like an optimistic take. They're still $30M apart on the pre-arb pool, and the PA has shown no real willingness to this point to drop down to the $40-50M range that is going to be required to get this deal done. Putting aside some of tertiary issues, from an economic standpoint, MLBs offer last night seems like an enormous win for the players. Going to be very disappointed if they don't figure it out.
  21. Players gonna counter with $70M arb pool and kill this deal.
  22. Sucks for division winner 3, but guess it creates some competition among division winners going down the stretch.
  23. Yah. Pay enough for mlb.tv; crazy to take away access.
