  1. Playing Sheets everyday means 1 of 3 things: 1) Sox didn’t sign a real RF. 2) Sox traded Vaughn. 3) Sox are making Vaughn, a former #3 overall pIck, golden spikes winner and legitimate top prospect in the game, a part time player as a 24 year old. You don’t make those decisions based on a 150 PA SS, and even less so based on a postseason HR.
  2. Great depth piece. Fits team needs well. But he’s isn’t a guy I am making AV into a weak side platoon player for. Stash in AAA; he’ll be needed in no time if Sox stupidly plan to play Eloy in LF everyday. Just a matter of time. If Sox don’t sign a RF, run him out there at DH. I still think Brandon Moss is a great comp for him all around.
  3. Could be the case. Hope you’re right. Def like this better if they plan to use him out the pen.
  4. I give zero fucks about some online trade value website. John Means is a slightly above average SP with 3 years of increasing cost control. AV is a former #3 overall pick with the enormous offensive upside, can play LF or 1B, has 5 years of control, 2 prearb, fits Balts window better. It’s really not that close. But we can agree to disagree - most everyone here is also going to disagree with you. It’s kind of a comical take.
  5. Just sign Conforto. I knew they were never going to invest significantly in a 6th SP. This definitely wouldn’t have been the insurance policy I selected, but oh well. Keuchel is and was always going to make 20 some starts whether you guys like it or not.
  6. They just need 3 more TOR pitchers! Almost there!!
  7. They did just extend Buxton, so one would think they’re gonna try to half ass a competitive team. They still need a ton more pitching.
  8. Assuming you’re referring to Sonny, he’s got a $12m team option for 23.
  9. Lol, no. Baltimore would do that deal in a millisecond.
  10. I was referring to Means. Disagree that Vaughn doesn’t fit this team.
  11. Trading Vaughn for 3 arb years of a decent SP (career fip around 4.5) would be awful.
  12. It’s not just RF tho. It’s a domino effect. If you sign a RF, now playing Eloy at DH regularly becomes more more realistic. That improves OF defense immensely and keeps Eloy healthier. Without signing a RF, we have 3 “OFs” to cover LF, RF and DH and they’re all somewhere between bad and horrible. Not ideal.
  13. He didn’t clarify. Just so he can say he was right either way!
  14. Which frankly this team needs more of.
  15. Again, I’ll see how the next 3 weeks play out. You and others choose to focus on every negative possible. I will wait to see what happens. I’m not afraid to rip this team. But the offseason just restarted. Have a cocktail bro.
  16. None of the good OFs have signed dude. They were never signing a big SP.
  17. Shrug. I don’t love the strategy persay but unfortunately they’ve been needed. This pen would be hot garbage without Kimbrel, Graveman and Kelly. We’d have three good relievers and a bunch of trash. We all projected the Sox would spend $5-8M on Tepera. We did that but it’s Joe Kelly instead. Big deal. Just finish the job. I’d they don’t finish the job, I’m with you. But what’s the point of freaking out when we’re 3 days into the renewed offseason and the job isn’t done? It’s just silly.
  18. It’s always so sobering when I remember who’s at the helm. Oh well. Past his prime and definitely not a guy I loce but he’s forgotten more about baseball than any of us will ever know. Just hope he stays out of his own way moving forward.
  19. I didn’t and still don’t like the Madrigal trade. But I’ve moved on. Prob best you do too. Look, I’m not excited about Josh Harrison. They definitely could have done better. But the FA list was very thin. Most of us expected a plug and play 2B to bat in the 9 hole and we got that. I for one am glad he’s at least a good defender and can play round the Diamond. He fills that need. Wish he batted left handed; really head scratcher for me. Now let’s hope the Sox have higher hopes for RF. I am not as confident as others that another mid rotation or better SP is needed, but there another avenue where improvement is doable. Other than that, this team is stacked man. We don’t need 9 all stars in the lineup. Harrison/Leury/Romy/Mendick/maybe even some Burger is fine 2B depth, albeit not exciting by any means.
  20. Leury mashes lefties (for a guy like Leury).
  21. Nah. Madrigal wRC+ 113, Harrison 103.
  22. Yeah I honestly thought he was a lefty too. Disappointing. Not even a natural platoon with Leury. Brad Miller would have been a much better option.
  23. 1. Spilled milk 2. one is already signed and one isn’t a 2B 3. take a look at the FA list
  24. Lol there is no chance he had better #s than Madrigal.
