For sure. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not excited about the move. But there are no good 2B FA. Just sign Conforto and literally i don’t care who plays 2B. If kind of doesn’t matter at that point as the line 1-8 is absolutely stacked. At least Harrison is a good defender.

I don’t think Cesar fit in very well. He looked miserable and uninterested. Glad we went in a different direction. I don’t hate many Sox players, but I fucking loathe Cesar Hernandez.

I don’t really get the push back on this deal. Last few guys in Sox pen aren’t that good. We needed another guy. Tepera or Kelly - who really cares. Potato potato. Some people will just b**** about anything.

TBF, there aren’t exactly a plethora of 2B on the FA market. Sadly, Harrison was one of the better options. Doesn’t make trading Madrigal for an overpaid reliever any better. But it’s not like the FA marker was flush with better options. Just sign Conforto and Idgaf who plays 2B.

MLBTR reporting it’s actually a $1.5M option for 23, not a buyout. Could be a typo tho.

My thoughts. Harrison / Leury is fine in the 9 hole if Conforto is signed. If no RF is signed, I hate it.

Colas, or Cespedes, Should not be a factor in any 22 decisions. that said, I’d love Nimmo. I’ve been crowing for him for years. My Conforto before Conforto.

Then Sox got McNeil for nothing and we still need a 2B.

McNeil is such a good fit and can play RF and 2B That you can probably live with just him.

Yes. Yes I do. He can’t play defense. We need to sign a real RF. We also need to get Eloy as many DH at bats as possible and I am not making Vaughn a weak side platoon player. Therefore there is no room in everyday lineup right away for Gavin. Calculus obviously changes If the Sox are dumbasses and don’t sign a RF and commit to the worst OF defense in the league and put our best asset in Robert in constant danger. But assuming they do the right thing and I have no reason to believe they won’t, Sheets is very good depth.

Easy. Sheets goes to AAA until he’s needed. Which probably won’t take long. Also just love how so many people glob onto Confortos 2021 stats and ignore his large sample size of being elite against against RHP for YEARS. But also dismiss AV due to tiny sample against RHP and anoint Sheets for a smaller sample against RHP. It’s comical stuff.

Not suggesting the Sox do this in the slightest, but think Mets would hand over McNeil to get from under Cano considering their payroll situation? Maybe take back Keuchel? Just brainstorming…know something like this was tossed around here months ago.

Really interesting trade for the Twins. IKF can’t hit much but is a great defender. But to give up Garver in the deal? Very interesting.

Looked like a perfectly serviceable back end SP last season. Which is all Sox really need IMO. I’d love to add a legit ace, but it’s not happening. In that case, don’t see the point in trading useful assets for a short term mid rotation guy like Bassitt. If the trade target isn’t a slam dunk to slot in front of our current top 4 in a playoff rotation, why are we giving away assets instead of using FA? Makes no sense.

What kind of deal is Cueto expected to get? Something like 2/$25M? He’s a guy I’d be happy to add to the mix instead of trading assets.
