  1. My understanding is that the rule says the runner establishes his own baseline. He doesn't have to run down the chalk. He just can't "intentionally" interfere with the ball. I have no doubt in my mind that Grandal positioned himself such that Gurriel had to adjust his throw. Guys do that all the time - its just seen more often between 1st and 2nd. But Yaz didn't stick his arm out. Gurriel hit him in the shoulder. I think the way the rule reads - its about intent. And since the play is not reviewable, its umpire discretion. IMO, the Sox caught a break but it was a heady play and ended up being a crucial moment.
  2. Should just get Liam up and let him take it from there after Tucker.
  3. Certainly not an ideal start, but let’s hold them there for a few innings Michael.
  4. I in no shape or form would ever root against the white Sox in the playoffs. TLR will be back until he chooses to retire again, he has health issues or gets in more legal trouble. A loss today changes nothing, except (most of) our favorite team is done for the year. Sox will look to improve RF and 2B this offseason regardless of tonight’s result. With the right moves, hopefully that helps team defense and adds some left handed pop/lineup balance we badly need.
  5. Well if Sox get a win tonight, Sox fans get yet another weekday day game tomorrow! What a joke this schedule has been.
  6. Too early for Hamilton there IMO. Using 2 bench bats there in a tie game for a lead off pinch hit and with the lineup surely to turn over again and give Billy at least one at bat in a tight game doesn’t seem like the best decision. Should have just left Engel in, even tho he’s been worthless at the dish.
  7. Bummer had been really good for awhile heading into the playoffs. Just didn’t have it Friday, but it was a far less than optimal spot to use him.
  8. You said he’ll never be better than a replacement level player. He was well above that in less than half a season. It’s math. So yeah, you’re still wrong.
  9. He was on pace for 4 fWAR season. So yeah, you’re wrong.
  10. What’s your problem with Cease? He was the 4th most valuable pitcher in the AL per fWAR. He doesn’t implode every start. In fact, he was quite good this season.
  11. Signing Conforto and finding a good defender at 2B that is switch hitter or hits from the left side would go a long way to helping make this team more well rounded. I don’t think we need to subtract from the core to make that happen. But need to fill in RF and 2B with guys that do things we struggle at.
  12. I just…..I’m so disappointed. So many missed opportunities and blown decisions. TLR is in charge…but Is Katz on board with these pitching moves? If us informed fans can analyze the stats - how come the HOF’er and pitching geek not? Just sad, really. Ripped a paycheck or two in AlCS tix and it isn’t even gonna happen. Damn shame.
  13. Well get him for some worthless innings if we’re losing late Sunday:
  14. You think he’s gonna be happy refunding all those playoff tickets? Me thinks not.
  15. Hahn would be let go in the private sector for leading his company to back to back successful years for the first time in its history while set up for long term success? I call BS.
  16. Yeah. It’s probably cuz Rodon is going Sunday and they want to save Kopech for a short start. But Kopech still could have pitched an inning today and pitched Sunday too. Just terrible all around.
  17. First 3 innings of a possible game 4 were so so so so so much less valuable than 2 on and 1 out with a 4-2 lead into the bottom of the 5th a few hours ago.
  18. There were all sorts of comments from both TLR and Hahn that Kimbrel was the #1 target for TLR/Hahn/KW. TLR was definitely in support, even if his comments today would indicate otherwise.
  19. Hope so. I’ll root for that, along with the Sox actually forcing a game 4. edit: that’s right. Also didn’t realize the game times were announced yesterday - totally missed that.
  20. Since my post got deleted (wasn’t meant to be a game thread but see why it was construed that way - my bad) Monday’s game (if necessary) is at 237CT. Another mid afternoon workday day game.
  21. I mean it’s always been obvious Hahn had nothing to do with the TLR decision.
  22. So sorry to hear about your dog. They truly are a mans best friend. I am a dog lover as well and had english, American and French bulldogs growing up. Awesome dogs. And yes, let’s get a fucking win. I fully expect Carlos to start on Sunday, which is not what I would do.
