I just read through Portillo's tweets and comments from the past 48 or so hours and he has mentioned Tepera. But not in the last couple hours. But anyone that pays any semblance of attention could have mentioned Tepera. The dude knows nothing.

There is still 50 hours. The Sox have a 9.5 game lead. They don't need major additions. There will be some moves prior to 3pm Friday - RH is waiting until the prices are at their lowest, which we have the luxury to do at this point.

If this season has taught us anything, its that these situations sort themselves out. Sheets will get his at bats if he's producing. I too would move him in the right deal, but he's got a role on this club on this down the stretch because we have so few left handed sticks.

He's effective, sure. But he's probably my least favorite pitcher to watch....like ever.

Begging for disappointment

Hard to be too frustrated when the Sox have an 8.5 game league. Maybe it’s 9.5 with EE, but that trade is much more about October than it is about extending a division lead that is already approaching insurmountable for the Indians.

I think they eventually will. Dbacks probably just hoping something better presents itself in the next 75 hours.

We knew we were going to see Eloy and Vaughn in the corners some. I am OK with it on occasion. Its going to be necessary at times - just hope it doesn't become an everyday thing.

You can't teach 6 foot 5 and 100 MPH. Codi has a 3.3 career FIP as a just turned 24 YO. He's going to a be a very good high leverage major league reliever. If I had to take Heuer or Tepera for the rest of 21, I'd take Codi. Tepera career FIP of 4.08. I'd love to have Tepera in this pen instead of say...Ruiz or Lopez...but yeah. Fair enough on the agree to disagree. Fairly certain you won't be seeing Crochet or Heuer change teams anytime soon. If Crochet goes, it's not going to be for a short term fix on a market rate deal.

We need to replace the last guy or two of our bullpen with solid veteran relievers. Not replace our 3rd and 4th best relievers. Tepera would fit the bill. This is a trade we'd be regretting immensely in short order. The Sox don't need to push all their chips in to win the 2021 world series. They're going to be good for a very long time if they're not dopes. I too want to strengthen the bullpen! But I am not trading 10 years of Crochet and Heuer for 1.33 seasons of Craig Kimbrel at like $25M.

Trading 2 of our best relievers both cheap and team controlled for 5 more seasons each for 2 vet relievers on short term deals is so dumb. Kimbrel is good, but he makes $16M a year. We cant pay 2 relievers $30M next season unless JR spikes payroll well over $150M. Kimbrel is paid what he’s worth, giving up a legit arm in Crochet not to mention Heuer who has been disappointing this year but will be a cog of BP for years to come is just a terrible move. Not to mention the ++ you mentioned. No love lost on Lopez obviously but your proposed trade is trash for the Sox. I want nothing to do with Kimbrel if he costs anything near that. Sox just can’t afford it and that $16M could be much better allocated this offseason. You can’t even guarantee that Kimbrel/Tepera will be better than Crochet/Heuer the last 2 months of the season and we’re giving up 2 big arms for 1 shot. Just a shortsighted move all around.

Fegan obviously is plugged in but he basically just said that was his guess. His guess is probably only slightly better than any of ours.

Lol the Sox have nowhere to even play Hosmer. I don’t care who they’re tacking on. Unless they’re eating 80%+ or his deal, it’s a complete no starter. We need good players, not bad players making a shit ton of money.

By definition, next year is irrelevant when discussing a 2B rental. Trading major assets for a 2B controlled beyond 2021 would be idiotic. But that isn't what we're talking about.

They have plenty to do both. Just get guys on expiring contracts. We don't need long term bullpen pieces at this moment. We need help solidifying things for the rest of this season. The Sox cant' expect to win this thing running out bench players at 2B and RF. They can get by in RF with a platoon when everyone is back, but not acquiring someone like Escobar who will cost very little would be terrible.

My dreams aren't that crazy. I have pretty much zero interest in subtracting major pieces from this team moving forward. Escobar + a couple solid relievers and I will be more than happy. We don't need to trade Madrigal, or Kopech, or Vaughn, or Crochet or even Kelley. This team is stacked as is (when healthy), I want to take a bunch of runs at this thing. We've built one of (if not the) best young and controlled cores in the game - let's see this thing through and not blow our load on just 21 and 22. Thankfully Hahn has said about a million times he's in the same boat, so I don't expect some shortsighted move like acquiring Turner or Gallo.

This 2B thing has gone too far. Way too much overthinking. Just acquire Eduardo fuckin Escobar. Its not complicated, and it shouldn't be very expensive. Adolfo + insert prospect rated 20-30 in the system and call it a day.
