Despaigne called up; Delmonico released; Fry to IL
I don’t believe you can put a guy on the major league IL if they’re in the minors. Otherwise I see no reason those guys aren’t already on 60 day. Delmonico can probably be safely DFAd. No one is going to claim when when he’s hurt. They should be able to retain him. Plenty of other guys they could cut too.

Ricky Renteria Has Made Me a Lineup Scold
Yah, lost me on the home away splits. Leury is a totally fine leadoff guy considering the roster. I’d bat Timmy 6th before 7th, but I definitely would bat him leadoff.

Per his Twitter, he is headed to Chicago.

Sox Claim Jimmy Cordero; Rodon shifted to 60 day IL
Then why exactly does it aggravate you?

Ricky Renteria Has Made Me a Lineup Scold
Ricky put together probably the first lineup all season that I would have don’t myself. Amazing.

Sox Claim Jimmy Cordero; Rodon shifted to 60 day IL
Guys...it’s a waiver claim. There is literally no cost to do so if you have a 40 man spot. There is no harm in claiming guys whatsoever. If you don’t like the guy after you’ve had him for a bit, DFA him when you need the spot. He may get claimed, or he may not in which case you get to keep him in the organization and he doesn’t take up a 40 man spot. There is zero risk. This really is not that complicated of a concept to grasp.

Rumor: Cease will be called up "very soon"
Door is open for a start tomorrow or Tue with Covey to IL.

Covey to IL
I suppose it could be Cease too

Covey to IL
Imagine Vieria goes back down in a couple days for Despaigne or Detwiler to make the start in Coveys spot.

Sox Claim Jimmy Cordero; Rodon shifted to 60 day IL
Can always DFA him again if they don't like him. No reason to not that flyers on guys when you have open 40 man spots.

Dallas Keuchel signs one year deal with Braves
I didn't know the Padres were big boys. Fine, use $250M if you prefer. That is more than enough to land any single FA they want this offseason. My point remains.

Sox Claim Jimmy Cordero; Rodon shifted to 60 day IL
Is it correct that the Sox cannot place Delmonico or Adolfo on the 60 day IL, even though they're both out for the season? My understanding is that the player must be on the active MLB roster (and MLB IL) in order to put on the 60 day IL.

I don't really think anyone is "outside of our price range". The Sox offered Manny Machado a contract that could have paid him well over $300M a few months ago, and the Sox have under $20M committed to next season's payroll. They can sign any FA they want if they decide to do so.

Sox Claim Jimmy Cordero; Rodon shifted to 60 day IL
Pretty sure Sox can keep him in AAA, and he has 1 option year remaining (this year), so can be brought up and sent back down this season. Will be out of options next season.

Sox Claim Jimmy Cordero; Rodon shifted to 60 day IL
He's really bounced around htis year. DFA'd by the Nats on 5/9, claimed by the Jays on 5/15, DFA'd by the Jays on 5/25, claimed by the Mariners on 5/28. Looks like the M's tried to slip him through waivers, and Sox claimed him. 5.82 career ERA in the bigs across 21.2 IP. 1 to 1 K to BB ratio. Has not pitched well in AAA this season either.

Dallas Keuchel signs one year deal with Braves
The benefit about Keuchel signing a 1 year deal is that he's a FA again in 5 months, and the Sox can nab him then if they want. And no pick attached this time.

Is he though? I liked him alot as an option before we drafted Vaughn. Now 1B and DH are very crowded. I do not want an OF with Eloy and Ozuna as 2/3rds of it for any more than 1 season. This assumes Abreu stays around, which based on Hahn's comments a few weeks ago, seems pretty likely.

Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him
Edwin Diaz isn't getting traded, and the other ones he listed are nowhere near as good as Colome.

I would definitely trade Colome to the Twins. But the price would be steep. I hope like hell the twins are dumb enough to not pay for Kimbrel and then turn around and trade Lewis or Kirilloff for a reliever that make slightly less than Kimbrel. Obviously we're not getting either of those guys for Colome, but one can dream. I hope they blow their load on Ken Giles.
