  1. I like McCann a lot and would definitely like to keep him around. But extending him seems unnecessary. Sox control him next year thru arb and he'll probably get like $4.5-5M. Unless he wants to sign like a 3-4 year deal at $3M AAV, I don't see the point.
  2. Any comment that has an semblance of positive vibes gets the laugh emoji now. Its a joke. Can we scrub this board and get rid of the trolls?
  3. Gerrit Cole would really make the pitching so much less of an issue. Cole-Giolito-Kopech-Cease-Lopez is very formidable, with Rodon perhaps joining the mix later in 2019. I personally would sign a 1 year vet to for the 5th spot and start Kopech in AAA next year to knock off the rust. Anyone know how much time he'd have to spend in AAA in order to get back that year they blew for a few starts in 2018? I would guess he'd need to be there until like mid-June...
  4. Tilson has been pretty awful in CF when he's had the chance this season. He really hasn't been great anywhere in the OF frankly. And yes, the Sox did DFA Tilson and he went unclaimed, so they were able to remove him from the 40 man but keep him in the org.
  5. If the Sox don't sign any real FA SP, there will be. If they sign one real SP, and another back-end type, it'll be a little tighter. FA-Giolito-Cease-Kopech-Lopez-FA-Dunning-Covey-Rodon (midseason)-Lambert-Flores Going to be tough for some of those guys to get starts at the big league level IF the Sox add a piece or two to the rotation. I personally expect them to, but I guess until it happens, ya never know.
  6. Someday you'll learn how the game actually works. Actually, you probably won't.
  7. Z-A-V-A-L-A
  8. Its definitely too early to give up on him. This is has last option year though, so he best figure it out soon. Would frankly prefer him in Chicago to Minaya.
  9. I can't wait for your post saying "release this stiff!".
  10. For 2nd game. Surprise, surprise.
  11. Yah, that is always a possibility. But a few people here had him on the surgery table last time he went on the IL and he was back shortly after the minimum stay, so it seems a bit premature to be projecting surgery.
  12. Wasn't it his shoulder earlier this season?
  13. ChiSox59 replied to SoxAce's topic in FutureSox Board
Seems like a pretty decent comp.
  14. Any word on when Jake Burger is going to get assigned? Has to be soon I would think.
  15. How exactly is a taking a consensus top 3 prospect like Witt "thinking outside the box"?
  16. I do admit it is a big if. But this is a big offseason for the organization, and I'd like to think they will right their wrongs. The org also has to know - and Hahn has clearly stated as such - that this thing is going to require supplementation from free agency to work. Neither Machado or Harper are going to be worth the contract they were given. But we knew that going in. Obviously I would have loved to have one of them (moreso MM), but they aren't here. I think we'll look back on it in 4-5 years as a bullet dodged, but I am hopeful the Sox will reallocate the those funds to very good, but perhaps not elite players. Cole + Ozuna or Castellanos + a couple other supporting pieces who be a huge step in that direction. We'll see what happens. In the meantime, I do think its completely fair to be skeptical that they'll actually do it. Maybe they go more towards the route the Twins went this year - that is, filling the gaps with with shorter term players. I personally won't love it, and it would be roasted to high heaven here - but as the Twins are showing, there is more than one way to build a team that wins baseball games.
  17. Because they're actually a year closer to competing. No one thought this team was going to complete in 2019 - with or without Machado or Harper. Not sure the same thing can be said in 2020 when everyone has another year of experience under their belt, and Kopech, Cease and Robert joining the mix. If the Sox go out and spend $300Mish this offseason on guys like Cole, Ozuna, Grandal, and maybe a supporting piece or two, this fan will forgive them for passing on Machado.
  18. I'd prefer Rutschmann or Witt, but Abrams would be my third choice and I certainly won't be upset if he is the pick assuming Rutschmann and Witt are off the board.
  19. Lol. By that point Moncada, Gioltio and Lopez will all be free agents. Anderson and Kopech will be on the final years of their deals. Things need to happen WAYYYYYY faster than that.
  20. TBH, I think expecting any top 100 types back for Abreu is wishful thinking. He will definitely be traded if they can get something like that, I would imagine.
  21. I was all for giving Jose Rondon a chance this season, but I think its time to move on. His slash line of .194/.237/.319 is putrid, he isn't great defensively, and has had several bone headed plays, including overrunning 2B after the rain delay last night. He is out of options, so he would have to be DFA'd but I kind of doubt anyone is putting him on their 25 man, so odds are likely better than a coinflip that he stays in the organization. Meanwhile Danny Mendick is slashing .271/.367/.441 down in AAA. I think I would make that move right now.
  22. Sounds like you’re happy about it.
  23. Yes, they do have an intelligent front office. But they also just got mostly lucky so this year. Several guys are playing WELL over their ability level all at the same time. Correct, tho Rosario is only controlled through 21.
  24. A lot more than 5.
  25. The twins are a taped together stop gappy squad. Like 40% of the team won’t be there next season and well over 50% will be gone by 2021. Lets not act like the twins have built this super sustainable power house. They’ve caught lightning in a bottle the first 50 games and they’re sure to cool off. He’ll win this division though.
