I'd definitely add him to the mix for $560k or whatever ML min is this season. Why the heck not? That being said, if the reports are true that he basically only wants to play SS, then I doubt we'll get him. He is also a west coast guy, so I bet we see him sign with the A's, Angels or Giants. Or Dodgers, would definitely be a Dodger move, even though there is really no room for him there.

You're not getting either player for these terms, and we know the Sox are offering more than that or MM and Harper wouldn't be wasting their time. And both are going to get opt-outs, and likely will take them. Paying Harper $30M+ in his 30's probably isn't going to happen, because he'll have opted out and someone will be paying him more!

I have a feeling that MM and his agents have discussed dollars with the Sox before arriving in Chicago. And yah, maybe the Phillies spend "stupid money" and offer MM $400M, and if that is the case, yes he probably is signing there. But that is far from guaranteed, and using the term "remote" just seems like blind pessimism at this point. I understand the reluctance to believe the Sox will actually do what is necessary to sign either of these guys, but all signs currently point to them being the running.

You've mentioned that. The fact that MM is in Chicago right now and is 1/3 teams he is visiting in person this week, evidence seems to suggest otherwise.
