Four year control guys off the table(JQ,Nate,Eaton)
Boopa1219 replied to Princess Dye's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The article never said that guys with 4+ years of control are off the table. -
I'll go into more detail later but I want a team that is fundamentally sound, athletic and geared towards taking walks and wearing down pitch counts. And pitchers that can light it up.
-
For people calling out for new blood the org. has brought in quite a bit of it in the past few seasons.
-
I think that teams should be allowed to carry 26 players but have an inactive roster spot. So its game one of the season and my inactive player is my game 2 starter, its game two of the season and my inactive player is my game one starter for example.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 17, 2016 -> 10:31 AM) I think Koenig is a new addition to the front office and his position may even be a new one. Strittmatter has been with the club for like a half a decade or so and he's more video and information collecting than anything having to do with metrics but with the promotion and ND connection with Fabian, it wouldn't surprise me if he moved over to analytics. I am sure you know that Dan Fabian created the portal for the White Sox analytics but they will not talk about their metrics. Hahn claims it's proprietary material and they can't divulge any information towards it. I think SSS interview Fabian a few years back and that's probably the only information on the White Sox use of analytics and even that is just basic stuff you can assume yourself. Yeah I know about the portal and the interview. It's funny that you said that the team will not talk about their metrics because in that exact interview Fabian says that the team would rather have people think that they're a backwards thinking organization. I am just curious to know what they're doing with that department in regards to hires and restructuring if some has taken place. I am pretty positive that Keonig is in a newly created position because that has never been listed before on the website.

I was reading the article about the revamped player development staff on WhiteSox.com and I went to the front office page to see if they updated it and I noticed a couple new positions and names regarding their analytics department. It was to my understanding that Dan Fabian, senior director of baseball operations, was in charge of the org's analytic efforts but if you scroll down you see Matt Koenig, as director of baseball analytics and Dan Striittmatter as coordinator of baseball information. Does anyone with some insight know what the team is doing in regards to metrics? These are definitely new positions in the org (at least publicly) and it's nice to see the Sox take a step forward in that area. I mean just look at the state of the org since Hahn took over as GM, the INTL department is back and going strong, the team is drafting well and developing players better and now it's starting to move further into analytics. (Sorry if this makes no sense, I literally worked all day)

QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 09:02 PM) Urias? That's a given and so is Lux but I need a given bat that I can plug into my lineup for the next 10-12 years

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Nov 15, 2016 -> 07:28 PM) Please elaborate. I do not like any of their position player prospects outside of Bellinger and they lack high-end arms outside of Alvarez, you could call De Leon a high end arm but I think that is a reach. With that being said, I can take Bellinger (who I just started feverishly researching) and Alvarez but that is nowhere near enough for Sale. They're not going to give up Seager, so they would need to get a third team involved.
-
I really dislike the Dodgers prospects for the Sox, a third team would have to get involved

QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 12:58 PM) Lawrie to Angels for mid-level prospect is my guess They don't have any mid level prospects or prospects in general for that matter. If you're a rebuilding team, why are you talking to the Angels.
-
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 04:45 PM) The fact that Merkin of all people is predicting a rebuild speaks volumes. Yep, I heard the other tweets but when I read his, I was like DAMN

I am pretty interested to see the top 30 list. I want to see who made the biggest jumps and how many J2 guys are on that list.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 11:47 AM) Just wonering, why is Kopech a must. He has already been suspended 50 day for taking an illegal substance and fractured his hand in a fight in the dugout w a teammate. He can throw a 100mph+ as a starter. His fastball ranges from 94-101mph, his slider is in the high 80s and a low 90s changeup.
-
If I were Hahn I would try to get another team involved in talks for Q and Sale for a three team deal, that's the only way I see them getting the king's ransom they deserve.

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 04:38 PM) Sure wish you guys were around to talk ghostbusters when I wrote my incredible critique. I thought that was one of the better summer movies, which says a lot about this past summer movie season. Some of it did feel awkward to watch at times, like that dance sequence. I think the movie should've been a sequel to Ghostbusters 2 with the original surviving cast back in their roles, that would've given the film a lot of good will.

The domino that could catapult the white sox into a fire sale

Sherman is my favorite baseball writer attached to a newspaper. -
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Nov 2, 2016 -> 03:08 PM) 13th overall pick. I hate that this team hasn't been able to evaluate talent. That was before Hahn and pre-Hostletler/Paddy. A lot has changed in the org. Give credit where credit is due.

What I loved about that episode of Westworld is that it's the first episode where the writer's aren't catering to the view anymore. They're not explaining how every little thing works or how did certain host end up in certain places. Very little exposition throughout the episode. I really want to know about MIB's life in the outside world, all we know is that he is a philanthropist that runs a very successful foundation and has saved tons of lives but nothing more. I also think that is a great avatar for the show. Here is this man, who in the real world (based on what info we have) is a good person as he saves lives and runs a charitable foundation but when he comes to WestWorld he (in his blackhat) indulges into his most sinister desires.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 29, 2016 -> 04:20 PM) Cocaine was big in the 80s and early 90s. It seems to be making a comeback. Non crack that is. Cocaine never left, instead of the projects you can find it in high-rises and the suburbs. Not all of my friends who use have smoked pot but they've all done coke (and heroin).
-
Is it wrong of me not to feel anything for Jose Fernandez. And I'm not saying this because of the news regarding the cocaine, I've felt this way ever since I heard the news about his boating accident. You should know that (drunk or sober) you shouldn't be on a boat in the middle of the night, especially after a night of partying. Its extremely idiotic, especially going as fast as he was said to be going. If it wasn't for him, two other people would still be alive right now. I feel bad for his family, especially his girlfriend and child. I feel bad for his friends that were on the boat with them and their families. And I feel bad for the Marlins, who as I think should totally blow it up and start from scratch. I feel nothing for Jose Fernandez. What a waste of talent.

James Shields officially not opting out
Boopa1219 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Oct 27, 2016 -> 12:19 PM) It fascinates me that the Cubs can spend $184 million on a bum like Heyward and not miss a beat while the Sox only owe Shields approximately 1/7th of that and are struggling big time with payroll. Well the two teams have two different budgets, the Cubs have a budget on par with the Dodgers, Yankees, Red Sox and Cardinals. The Sox have a mid tier budget. -
Now that he's dropped the sequel, I wouldn't be shocked if Tim Miller sues Fox for some back pay on Deadpool, since he did a lot work on the film during post for free.
-
I liked that the Sox got Shields and even after how bad he was I like that the was aggressive to get him but I trade for one reason... the surrendering of Tatis Jr. I think that if you're taking on an older player, that's on a massive contract and someone who's team owner burned in the media, that you shouldn't have to give up anything of value to get said player. Tatis Jr got some high marks from his first instructs last year too and I think Jesse Sanchez had some nice things to say about him too during that J2 cycle. Hopefully the Sox scream murder and they're able to get Tatis back from the Padres.
