  1. QUOTE (hi8is @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 11:38 PM) Shelby Miller, come on down... You're the next contestant on "The Deal is f***ing Wrong!" I have been in Atlanta for the last series at Turner (pics on my Instagram) but Shelby Miller is involved in one of the Braves worst trades and their best
  2. Does the Sox brass live in a different reality than we do because I've seen 4 years of bad baseball and nothing has really improved one season to the next. The Sox are just as bad as they were in 2011.
  3. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Sep 25, 2016 -> 11:45 AM) Kudos to those who have suggested Gabe Kapler. The suggestion didn't register with me at first, but after doing a little research on the guy, he's a very intriguing individual for an open MLB managerial position. I hope he's in the mix of those under consideration when the time comes to figure out who the next manager in the Sox dugout is! I've been driving the bus for a while, glad to have you on board.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 21, 2016 -> 09:56 PM) I may be done with baseball if it's Buddy Bell. I think it'll be Renteria though. My choices ... a.) La Russa. I don't want an ignorant racist managing my favorite team
  5. The guy that I have been championing for a long time is Gabe Kapler. Former player, managerial experience, well versed in the metrics, works in player development, understudy of Theo/Maddon/Friedman.
  6. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 21, 2016 -> 10:53 AM) Chris Bosio. That would be interesting.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Sep 20, 2016 -> 09:38 AM) I went on Sunday. Mostly just went for Bad Religion and Misfits. Both were good. Watching the Misfits was a little bit surreal at first. Also saw Rob Zombie, not a huge fan, but thought he was pretty good. He probably sounded the best out of all the bands I saw. I thought he was good too. Big fan.

QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 19, 2016 -> 04:40 PM) Did anyone go to Riotfest? Yeah, I saw my hero Morrissey in concert for the first time. I've been buying tickets to see him since I was 14 and he cancelled everytime. He came on stage 40/45 mins late, which is typical Morrissey. I saw GZA, Bad Religion, Method Man and Red Man, Pierce the Veil, Dan Deacon, Descendents, Sleater Kinney and Joey Badass. Andrew WK

Suicide Squad has a legitimate chance at $800M as it crossed The Winter Solider at the box office. Suicide Squad also has better legs than Civil War at the Box Office. Keep in mind that Suicide Squad was banned in China, the most important INTL market for films.

Earlier this year there was a conversation going on about the death of the movie theater, mostly in part to the Screening Room. The conversation is put down thanks to 'indies' like The Witch, Don't Breathe*, Hell Or High Water (just to name a few) which people are going to see and not waiting for VOD. ******************** Our full list of films at the Chicago International Film Fedtival comes out today. We have La La Land, Arrival, Moonlight, Elle, Pronouns just to name a few. Come see them before everyone else does.
  11. Mendoza put up good numbers in the DSL, I think he was batting high .290s most of the season until the last few weeks of the season. He might have hit a wall, but he is definitely someone to keep an eye on. Its either him or Vasquez that was trained by Banana and his kids always hit.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 01:27 PM) There are definitely a few names out of LA that I have never heard of, which is very exciting. I haven't been on the IPL website in a while, so I will definitely look these guys up when I get the chance.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 07:59 AM) http://sports.yahoo.com/news/the-legend-of...-001630360.html And a marketing bonanza as well. No, not Tebow. Shohei Otani. The Sox were linked to him during the same offseason where they nabbed Abreu (they were linked to Tanaka too). Otani is not coming over to be a reliever, you put him in the rotation or get out of the (eventual) running. I think he's good enough to pitch in the majors now and the best baseball player in the world, not named Mike Trout.
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 08:56 AM) Fall Instructs open next week. This is a developmental league for the younger prospects, and the Sox are sending quite a few of their key prospects to the league. Also some very, very young players - five of them are 16-year olds. Here's a look at who is going and why. I excited to see how the J2 guys come out of this, you always get a better picture of an INTL player after their second go through instructs, like Amado Nunez. I am going to head back west in a month, so I am going to try to hit the complex and maybe see what's going on.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 05:11 PM) Don't Breathe was surprisingly good...especially for that genre. Best movie of the year. But I hated the ending scene, it was completely unnecessary in my opinion. And I hated very beginning scene, it didn't really have a purpose.

Saw Banks & Steelz (Paul Banks from Interpol and the RZA from the WU) last night at Lincoln Hall, pretty great show. I shared a bottle with RZA too. I highly suggest you check out their album Anything But Words. Giant, Ana Electronica and Love and War are standouts from the album.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 7, 2016 -> 08:47 AM) If they are truly rebuilding, there is no reason to keep him. Yes there is, you keep him and hope that he keeps pitching like so that you can flip him at the deadline (if there are no plans to trade him during the offseason).
  18. Is anyone else disappointed by Tim Anderson's stolen base total? If you were to average out his SB total to a 162 game season, he would have 15 SBs. For someone with 70+ speed, that is way too low in my opinion. I think Anderson should be raking up 30+ bags a year automatically. Also for someone who doesn't walk a lot, I think he needs to maximize the situation whenever he's on base. I know that this is his rookie season but I was expecting more from him on the basepaths. Overreaction over.

I just got back from Los Angeles, I was there for a few weeks. I checked out the New Beverely Theater, which is owned by Quentin Tarantino. I saw Magnum Force and the Hateful Eight again. I went to Universal Studios and checked out the Dunkirk set, it was the last days of filming. The warships that you'll see in the film are all real. Went to the WB lot too.
  20. You take a vacation and the whole world goes crazy
  21. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 25, 2016 -> 12:49 PM) I'd love it if we could somehow move someone for some competitive balance picks. I would be ecstatic, because the bigger your bonus pool, the more money you have to play with in the draft.
  22. I am pretty excited about the development of Amado Nunez and what it says about the Sox player development strategy. If a player were performing this well at a level, it seemed like the Sox would promote them if they were ready or not. Now it seems like the Sox are really taking their time with guys and not rushing them. Look at Call, Hansen and Fisher for example. Its a new day for the Sox. *Also I really like Franklin Reyes from what the reports and articles that I've read and the video I've scene. Really excited to see him after his first season as professional and after another year of instructs.
  23. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Aug 23, 2016 -> 09:28 PM) http://mlb.mlb.com/r/article?ymd=20160823&...ws&c_id=cws At the end of the article, the wording is confusing. Is Collins or Hansen going to the Arizona Fall League? Only one can go, right? Only Collins will be going to the AFL but before he goes, he will attend the instructional, which Hansen will also be attending.
  24. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Aug 20, 2016 -> 07:39 PM) 7th. It will put the Sox at the 7th pick in the draft. Unfortunately that's the best thing that can come from this season.
  25. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 19, 2016 -> 11:39 PM) I think we'll have a huge losing streak before it's over. I'd say something like a 2-10 run. My guess is we win seven games in September. Where will that put the Sox in the draft? I am expecting a terrible September as well because there are no impact players that they can call up. And a lot of the young players that have been called up (with the exception of Anderson) have not been performing well. They play a lot of divisional games during the final stretch and hopefully that continues to be a thorn in their side, plus teams like the Royals and Rockies are doing everything they can to get into the playoffs.
