Thor Ragnarok sounds amazing and going off how people are describing the sizzle reel (and the mockumentary, it finally sounds like we're getting a deep fantasy, epic film that just embraces everything about Asgard and the mythology. Spider Man sounds hilarious. Love the John Hughes take on it, it makes too much sense. GotG2 sounds more out there than the first one and that's great. Brie Larson has to be sold on Marvel's take on Carol Danvers because she gets to hire the director someone said, awesome to see a woman use her star power. Black Panher arguably has the best cast of any CBM, EVER All around GREAT Con from both DC and Marvel

The Dodgers are light on position player prospects, so they might have to get in a third team.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 06:48 PM) Sox liked Trey Ball before he got drafted I thought Ball was a lot better as a position player than as a pitcher coming out, he had a really nice swing and at 6'6 an ideal frame.

I'll trade him for Michael Kopech

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 11:43 PM) "Taking a chance" is fine and dandy... Just not with someone who averages almost 250 strike outs per year. I have no idea where you got 250 from. Gallo is going to do three things at the big league level, he's going to walk, he's going to strike out and he's going to hit home runs. Let's not forget he has legit 80 power. Three-outcome players also have value. I don't care if you strike out 150 times as long as you walk a lot and hit a s***-ton of home runs and last time I checked Gallo excels at both of those things.

Ladies and Gents, Your 2016 Chicago White Sox
Boopa1219 replied to Ducksnort's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If I had to rank the overall talent pool of every organization, the White Sox might be bottom 10, maybe bottom 5. -
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 10:15 PM) Hard pass on Gallo. The dude tries to homer on every swing and those kind of guys haven't panned out with us as of late So just stop taking chances on 'those type of players' because that makes sense. I don't get that logic, I know that Dunn and LaRoche didn't work out like we hoped but that doesnt mean that the Sox should stop taking chances of left handed power hitters.

I can't remember a player of Sale's caliber being made available in quite sometime. When you consider his status on the field, his ridiculous contract and his age, he might be untradable but with that being said if the Sox were going to trade him they would need to get something better than what the Indians got for Bartolo Colon, something totally ridiculous.

I think the Sox can handle Joey from FRIENDS

Zack Collins agrees to deal with White Sox
Boopa1219 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think that if the Sox make him a 1B/DH, Collins could be up with the ML team sometime next year. -

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 09:35 PM) Their top draft picks under hahn from 2013-2015 are in the majors right now for the team. My point exactly. The team definitely drafts well. -

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 09:33 PM) It was still bottom ten with them wasn't it? Weren't they like 22? Don't remember. I thought it was middle 15-20 range. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 09:30 PM) The farm system is bottom ten for sure Yes, currently because Anderson and Fulmer have graduated. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 09:23 PM) Hahn needs to get fired after this year. Just can't build a winning team or build up the farm system. I think Hahn has done his job really well given the constraints he has to work under and to say that he can't build a farm is a joke, the Sox have drafted consistently well since he took over and their LA program is starting to turn out players. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 16, 2016 -> 08:55 PM) Is anyone wanting them to lose yet on here? Haven't seen that yet. Doesn't mean many on here don't think they can compete with the top AL teams the rest of the way and selling should be a legit option in two weeks. I definitely want them to test the market as sellers and start adding young pieces to the ML roster and see if they can shed some of their bigger salaries (Cabera and Robertson) for more flexibility going forward. And if the Sox are mathematically eliminated, I hope they lose as many games as possible for better draft position and a bigger INTL pool. -
This is one of the better trades that I have seen recently. Preller basically traded a platoon player (in Alonso) for one of top 15 prospects in all of baseball. While San Diego has a long way to go to being respectable, they have injected some serious talent into their system the past 6 months.

Yes, imagine a line up leading off with Anderson and Eaton that was Burns in the 9 hole. That's a lot of speed, imagine being a pitcher and having to have off against Burns, Eaton and Anderson.

All-star gamethread: American League vs. National League

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 12, 2016 -> 09:53 PM) I'm sure some did but after he was a butcher in the WS, people may have got cold feet. He was certainly a liability with the glove in the WS. Something I don't understand, why does Ned Yost insist on cutting short Salvador Perez's career and offensive potential? He catches too many games and sooner than later his body is going to start breaking down -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 12, 2016 -> 09:47 PM) David Ortiz is supposedly really pushing for the Red Sox to sign Encarnacion as his replacement. Guess they're very good friends. MLB starting to follow some of the NBA player movement trends... They're going to have to start looking into tampering more like the NBA. Did anyone here want the Sox to sign Daniel Murphy? -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 12, 2016 -> 06:14 PM) Pre-Ziegler trade, it would actually have made some sense, but there's still no way we were getting Moncada back. The only way the Sox get Moncoda is if they are willing to part with Quintana. I would peg Frazier's value at one top 50 prospect and a lower lever guy.

I saw the Cure last month for the third or fourth time and it was one of the best shows of my entire life. I have some solid video on my phone that I'm going to put online.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 6, 2016 -> 03:48 PM) Buster said that the White Sox should listen because Dombrowski will overpay with the pressure on Boston to win. He did say that he wouldn't necessarily trade him though. He mentioned Moncada and Benintendi. I would want back Moncoda for sure in addition to either Benintendi and Espinoza and a couple other low level guys.

I should be back from Detroit by then, so I plan on going -
I think Quintana is worth one of Moncoda or Espinoza from Boston.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 06:24 AM) Agreed on the cinematography.... Maybe the history teacher part of me prefers The New World and The Thin Red Line...that second one was definitely his most accessible, mainstream type of movie. The New World is a beautiful movie to watch. Maybe Tree of Life would resonate with me more, had I grown up in the 1950's/60's, instead of of the 70's and 80's. To the Wonder had Affleck and two actresses I enjoy watching, McAdams and Olga Kurylenko, but it just didn't quite make it into that category of great move. It was a worthwhile watch, although I find some aspects I enjoy in almost every movie, no matter how terrible. I think his most accessible and conventional film is Badlands with Martin Sheen, ironically it's his first movie and he didn't become the Terrence Malick we know till his second film Days of Heaven. The New World is criminally underrated and I think The Thin Red Line is way better than Saving Private Ryan. I am excited about Voyage of Time, its been talked about since before Tree of Life.
