  1. Really need to shake this lineup up or something, these guys are dead on their feet. Eaton Lawrie Cabrera Abreu Frazier Saladino Rollins AJax Avila
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 02:15 PM) At this point, they just need to acquire another bat. Good luck going to Toronto and Baltimore next week with this offense struggling. Seriously. You can get away with not hitting right now, but the big boy games start next week and you better be hitting by then.
  3. 3 walks through 1 IP. Cut this dude already and move on.
  4. Danks aside, how about this turnaround on defense? Defensive numbers so far: DRS: 6th ARM: 5th UZR: 7th UZR/150: 6th Overall Def: 5th Should also note the Sox currently have the 5th ranked defensive catching tandem. Atlanta is 26th.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 10:16 AM) Doesn't matter. Last year he shut us out over 6 1/3, giving up only 5 hits and getting 5 K's. A lot of turnover on that roster
  6. In addition, if you bring up Coats, you can be bringing him up for more than just his bat so if he doesnt hit right away, he will atleast give you solid defense in LF. Melky has been playing solid defense thus far, but looking at his career splits, it looks like he can handle a switch to DH better than others. Bringing Coats up seems like a no brainer at this point. Only real concern I'd have with Coats is he doesnt draw a ton of walks.
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 08:02 AM) I think, if trends continue into May, you make two moves: DFA Sands, bring up Ishikawa as a LHH DH and 1B bench guy and pinch hitter. He can also play OF, but with the three starters plus Shuck he's probably not necessary in that role anyway. Option Avisail to Charlotte - maybe the kick in the ass will work. Bring up Coats. Coats to LF, Melky to DH, to keep their strengths. You do both of the above and I think you get better offense than Sands, and one who can back up 1B as well, plus the LHH option the team needs. With Coats you immediately improve your defense in that corner OF slot, and probably see some marginal offensive improvement over Avisail. This is what Im thinking is best for the depth of the team right now

    4/20 Games

Jordan Stephens is absolutely dealing right now. Damn!
  9. Hit Weaver hard tomorrow, dude is dunzo
  10. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 03:27 PM) MLBTV skipped during that AB. Did Saladino hit the ball hard right at someone? Yes, hard grounder
  11. Might not be hitting worth s***, but these guys are definitely better defensive catchers
  12. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Apr 20, 2016 -> 01:33 PM) The K's have been down for Sale lately, but that doesn't really matter to me as long as he can go deep into games by pitching to contact. Strikeouts are fun, but wins are more fun. He's becoming a smarter pitcher.
  13. TYLER! Ya, he should be playing SS with Rollins DHing
  14. Truly fun game to watch tonight. Nice W boys! Anyone else think the Sox would be better served to move Rollins to DH for the time being and have Saladino take over at SS?
  15. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 11:32 AM) If Cespedes or Upton were in RF, I'm willing to bet the turnout would be pretty close to the same. True. The Sox could also be 11-2 and be the talk of the MLB. Hypotheticals are hypotheticals. Fans speak with their money and they are telling management they aren't sure this is a product they want to invest in. I think booing Rodon is incredibly idiotic, especially considering the quality streak he just ended, but I'm really not going to hold it against other fans if they don't want to go, that's their choice. I'll keep going and supporting my team, though I'm starting to wonder if I'm a masochist for watching the same product year after year and expecting a different result.
  16. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Apr 19, 2016 -> 11:10 AM) Just my opinion but it just may have something to do with: A. Three straight losing seasons B. Six losing seasons in nine years (worst stretch since 1968-1980) C. One playoff appearance in nine years D. Five playoff appearances in 35 years Having a good start for 10 days doesn't magically erase all that. It's going to take time and CONSISTENT winning to bring the fans back. I'm not saying win multiple World Series, that's not going to happen but making the expanded playoffs two or three years in a row would help a lot. And unfortunately the Sox haven't been able to do that...ever. Unlike some I don't blame the fans. When a restaurant gives you bad food you don't go back...when the hardware store sells you a defective tool you don't go back. Sports is no different. When the product is good and worth seeing the fans will return. Until then the onus is on ownership to make it so. Mark Gotta agree with Mark here. I am excited as anyone about the great start this team had and I will go to plenty of games this season b/c I am geniunely excited about this team, but let's not pretend like an 8-2 suddenly erases the memories of the last couple of years of this organization. This is a team that brought back an awful manager, brought back a terrible hitting coach, decided to continue running out one of the worst players in baseball, and didnt land the extra big bat that everyone was screaming for this offseason. It's hard to forget about those things as a fan. I think this team has the potential to be very good, but do you really blame people for being skeptical right now? Especially since 2 of their 3 home games have been absolute blowouts?
  17. They want taxpayers to front the $1 billion museum (that won't even house Star Wars artifacts), good f***ing luck with that.
  18. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Apr 18, 2016 -> 08:25 PM) Fulmer sucked again...and with that and the sox awful start tonight my optimism is gone Relax. He pitched fine tonight.
  19. Don't look now, but the Cubs offense is pretty f***ing awful too
  20. No approach whatsoever at the plate. This is ugly.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 16, 2016 -> 06:32 PM) Odorizzi wasn't overpowering though. Salazar best stuff easily they have seen. Odorizzi has been one of the best pitchers in baseball thus far.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 16, 2016 -> 06:27 PM) Problem is it's been 91-92 that they have seen that they can't hit so far this year. Haven't exactly faced guys with great stuff. Gray? Salazar? Odorizzi? Not like they are seeing bums every game
  23. Honestly, it's easy to consistently blame Danks, but if he gives up 4 through 5 or 6 today, you can't really ask for more out of your 5th starter. This offense really needs to get going, it's looking really s***ty once again.
