Time for some changes, Rick
Unfortunately, this is where professional scouting is even more important. I can't honestly say that this is an organizational strength.

Banuelos leaves game with shoulder soreness
Add in Semien (4.2 bWAR last year and 1.9 already this year with 1E in 44G) and Phegley (0.6 bWAR and leading AL in CS) and that trade doesn't look too hot in the rear view mirror either.

Does Charlie Tilson deserve a shot?
Tilson has a 0.953 OPS in 62 ABs so far this year in Charlotte. Ryan Cordell was 2-for-30 until he hit a hot streak and got 2 hits in his final seven ABs last year. He seems to have turned things around. I agree he looks the part more than Tilson does, but why not give Tilson a look?

4/17 Games
And what's amazing is that he's doing this with a BABIP of only 0.182 (after his 3-4 night). It was a paltry 0.056 previously. Not sure what's going on here, but if this is just bad luck he's in for some big-time positive regression and it will be glorious.

White Sox sign Elijah Tatis, brother of "He Who Shall Not Be Named" per Enrique Rojas
Never said they shouldn't. Just said that it would be very, very easy to shy away from actions like this when they would almost certainly shine lights in places that certain people would probably rather not have them shine. It's just a normal human reaction. The right thing to do is to "do the right thing". But, I have to give them credit for not allowing the original move that blew up in their faces in spectacular fashion affect their decision making. I actually am sort of impressed.

White Sox sign Elijah Tatis, brother of "He Who Shall Not Be Named" per Enrique Rojas
I really have to wonder what motivated this move. This just re-opens the Shields trade wound, and moreover it will be a constant reminder for the duration of Elijah's stay in the Sox organization. Every day any Sox fan looks at the minor league box scores it will be there writ large … a constant reminder of "The Trade". If I were KenHahn, unless I thought this kid is the greatest thing since sliced bread, I wouldn't touch him with a 10' pole. This either took the biggest stones in the world to do the right thing in the face of certain criticism and embarrassment, or it is the troll-job of the decade. Too close to call really ...

White Sox sign Elijah Tatis, brother of "He Who Shall Not Be Named" per Enrique Rojas
You know, I've thought this for a long time. If anything, lineage is the biggest reason I would not have traded Tatis. The genes are in there somewhere. Of all the org filler you could trade, it's not worth the risk.

Frankie Montas
Yahoo article The 26-year-old Montas has had varied success during parts of two seasons with the A's but was dominant this spring after adding a splitter to complement a 97 mph fastball and slider. The new pitch produced immediate results as Montas went 2-0 with a 0.56 ERA in five games with 16 strikeouts and five walks over 16 innings.

Just gonna leave this here ...- KW: "It's a shame" the Sox are being portrayed as cheap
It's disingenuous to talk about the contract in aggregate when the total is spread-out over some number of years. It's just more double-talk to make their argument sound more rational. Hell, $6M today doesn't even get us an Alonso or a Nova. In 10y, $6MM might not even get you Adam Engle. Making it sound like this is a make-or-break detail in the negotiation is insulting.- KW: "It's a shame" the Sox are being portrayed as cheap
The biggest BS is the part where we're not supposed to notice that all this talk about $50MM is spread out over 8-10 years. We're talking about $5-6MM/yr in future dollars. WTF is 6MM going to buy you in 10 years? This is so disingenuous.- Machado signs with Padres 10/300
Pedigree?- Machado signs with Padres 10/300
According to the above, Hoyer moved to the cubs in Oct 2011 and traded for Rizzo in Jan 2012. So he used his professional knowledge and experience to make a savvy trade?- Machado signs with Padres 10/300
I'm sorry, I seem to have missed the "shenanigans". Sounds to me like Hoyer really liked Rizzo and knew what Padre ownership thought of him and so he made a play for a player with whom he had a long history. I don't see anything untoward here.- Harper to Phillies 13yr/330 mil
I tend to agree with this. If he were to sustain some career-threatening injury shortly afterwards, you would have been stuck with him anyway if there were no opt-out. You get him for three years and even though you'll probably eventually have to go through this circus again, if things take-off like you hope, re-signing him again may not be as difficult as it seems right now. This opt-out seems like an issue that should not be a deal-killer.- Machado signs with Padres 10/300
Which shenanigans were those? Rizzo went to the Cubs in Jan 2012 and according to Wikipedia: "On October 26, 2011, the Chicago Cubs announced that Jed Hoyer and Jason McLeod had joined the club." What am I missing? Did he really negotiate a trade and then put it on hold for 3 months and somehow get the Padres GM to rubber-stamp the trade?- Donn Roach starting ST game is current Chisox.com headline?
