  1. Then their options are going to be very limited it would seem.
  2. True... but all we know (for now) is that Nashville is a much smaller market, that the Mayor and others have already said public funds for a new stadium will not be available and MLB wants an expansion team there because they could get about 2 billion dollars in expansion fees (according to Sports Illustrated) and would not favor relocating a team. Based on the above I don't see how that would qualify as being in Ishbia's best interest or a better opportunity. Time will tell.
  3. Is moving the team to Nashville a "better opportunity"? Guess it depends on your point of view.
  4. Anything is possible but as pointed out it makes little sense financially or from a business perspective. Also MLB, again, wants the expansion money as opposed to relocating a team.
  5. When no one wants him Getz will gladly take him back. That's the White Sox way. 😄
  6. Then he must know something that others don't since Nashville has gone on record as saying there is zero money available for a new stadium and MLB wants an expansion team there rather than a relocated one because they'll get more money that way. But if he wants to go then don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. After almost 20 years of incompetence, dysfunction and ineptness it won't bother me one bit (and I never thought I'd say that)
  7. “This isn’t a ‘study,’ it’s purchased propaganda,” Kennesaw State University professor of economics J.C. Bradbury said in an email to the Tribune. “It does not use established economic methods for analyzing economic outcomes, and thus its conclusions are not credible … This is a fantasy document.”
  8. Just FYI since the start of the 2007 season (when I contend the rot in the organization first really started to come into play) the Sox overall record is 1,354-1,622. That's a .454 win percentage.
  9. For years Sox managers have been told they have to keep certain members of previous staffs on their own. As far as taking the job with little autonomy, a big check and the chance to get that position trumps all. I mean look at Rick Hahn and Chris Getz.
  10. "The Chicago White Sox also saw substantial year-over-year decline amid another dismal season and a switch from NBC Sports Chicago to Chicago Sports Network, the latter of which was subject to a lengthy carriage dispute with Comcast that kept the network dark for two-thirds of the season. The Sox saw viewership slip by 42% versus last season as a result." https://awfulannouncing.com/mlb/tigers-double-viewership-as-largest-decline.html
  11. Heard from a source this morning on the firings. Didn't reach out to them on this so I was a little surprised. They provided some insight into the situation to help clarify. Take it for what you think it is worth: "For all my criticism of the White Sox, I applaud the firing of their coaches today. Good riddance to Ethan Katz. One of my Giants sources referred to him three years ago as “High School Harry,” said he milked his distinction as HS pitching coach for Flaherty, Giolito and Fried. Was told by a Sox source in the middle of 2023 that Grifol wanted his own pitching coach but was denied. My sense is that the hiring of Brian Bannister, who worked with Katz in KC, saved his bacon for a while. Katz was viewed as the anti-Don Cooper, so he got a long runway from James Fegan, the Comcast/CHSN groupies and radio clowns. After the firings of Grifol and his buddy Mike Tosar, Mike Gellinger was promoted to his spot. After the season when Venable came on board, Thames felt somewhat threatened by Gellinger’s presence, so Gelly went back to his former role as minor league hitting coach. Gellinger was Konerko’s guy. Last winter Cleveland asked and was granted permission to talk to Gelly, but they found out Gelly makes a lot of money. Never understood the love for Katz, now they need to get rid of Gene Watson. Losing 511 games in five years is no reason to be employed. Here’s his losses over the last five years: Year Team Losses 2021 Angels 85 2022 KC 97 2023 KC 106 2024 CWS 121 2025 CWS 102 “Has one of the worst reputations in baseball.” - Former MLB executive"
  12. He's out right now with elbow issues.

  15. Have no idea what Love was thinking but it almost cost them the game. They were very lucky there was still a second left on the clock.
  16. When you are 60-102 it doesn't mean much does it?
  17. That was a strong win by the Bears because objectively they didn't play that well. They are still making a lot of dumb, stupid mistakes and they had 11 offensive plays today where they lost yards. Yet they won and that's to their credit.

  19. Well we’ve made it through another brutal, desultory, awful baseball season. The only real question this off season is, what does JR allow Getz to do with labor uncertainty on the horizon????? Three straight seasons with at least 100 losses. That’s the first time in the 125-year history of the franchise that has happened. AND it’s also the fourth time in the last eight years they’ve done this. They also lost 100 games in 2018. The three-year total of 324 losses is the worst stretch in franchise history. That breaks the previous mark of 295 losses from 1968 through the 1970 years. The hitting was inconsistent at best, the starting pitching was bad, the bullpen was the worst in baseball and this team still is terrible defensively and in fundamentals. And they continue to not be able to keep players healthy especially pitchers as they were gutted with TJS starting in the spring. The Sox DID NOT WIN A GAME all year against Baltimore (0-6) and DID NOT WIN A GAME all year at Cleveland (0-6) and at Kansas City (0-7). By the Numbers… Let’s start with the pitching. 17 times the White Sox took a lead into the 7th inning or later…yet lost the game. (This comes on the heels of last season when this happened an incredible 29 times!) Here is the breakdown: April 6 @ Detroit (9th) Ellard/Leasure April 27 @ Athletics (10th) Leasure May 6 @ Kansas City (9th) Booser May 10 Miami (7th) Wilson May 21 Seattle (8th) Vasil May 25 Texas (9th) Leasure May 26 @ N.Y. Mets (8th) Booser June 14 @ Texas (7th) Taylor June 19 St. Louis Game #1 (8th) Booser July 2 @ L.A. Dodgers (9th) Taylor/Wilson August 3 @ L.A. Angels (7th) Vasil August 7 @ Seattle (10th) Eisert August 17 @ Kansas City (7th) Wilson August 19 @ Alanta (8th) Alexander/Wilson August 26 Kansas City (9th) Taylor/Alexander September 23 @ N.Y. Yankees (9th) Eisert September 27 @ Wahington (7th) Wilson/Eisert The individuals responsible (in some cases there was more than one pitcher in the decisive inning) Alexander 1 Booser 3 Eisert 2 ½ Ellard ½ Leasure 2 ½ Taylor 2 Vasil 2 Wilson 3 ½ The Sox blew the lead: In the 7th inning : 5 times In the 8th inning: 4 times In the 9th inning: 6 times In the 10th inning: 2 times Now as far as the offense: 83 times the Sox scored three runs or less in a game this year. That’s 51%. They were an abysmal 15-36 in one-run games. 10 times they trailed in the 7th inning or later and won the game. Here is the breakdown of what inning they took the lead or tied and wound up winning: April 20 @ Boston (7th) June 22 @ Toronto (8th) June 29 San Francisco (7th) July 11 Cleveland Game #2 (8th) July 23 @ Tampa Bay (8th) September 1 @ Minnesota (8th) September 3 @ Minnesota (9th) September 4 @ Minnesota (7th) September 7 @ Detroit (7th) September 26 @ Washington (9th) The Sox tied or took the lead in a game they’d win: In the 7th inning: 4 times In the 8th inning: 4 times In the 9th inning: 2 times This organization is so bad in so many areas both on and off the field that in my opinion they only hope, the only chance they have is for Ishbia to take over and see what changes. I mean how can he be worse than Reinsdorf? I just hope I’m still alive to see it.
  20. Well we survived this disaster of a season. More to come later.
  21. if they lose today they end the year with 13 losses in the last 15 games if I remember right.
  22. Good that means Getz can't try to sign him for next year.
  23. So has this franchise basically since 2007 if you are being honest.
