it's been longer than two years...remember how decimated they were at times in 2020? Guys like Ross Detweiler were pitching if I remember right. May have got that wrong but they were beat up that season and even before it as far back as 2016 but folks didn't notice it because the team was bad anyway. Here's one example: August 2, 2016 - When White Sox outfielder Charlie Tilson was helped off the field in Detroit he became, incredibly, the fourth player making their Major League debut for the club to be injured and not be able to finish the game that season. Catcher Kevan Smith injured his back in pregame warm up’s and was placed on the disabled list, outfielder Jason Coats suffered a cut lip and a mild concussion after a collision, infielder Matt Davidson broke a bone in his foot running the bases and was placed on the disabled list and Tilson tore his left hamstring, he also went on the DL.

I like the idea however I can tell you cameras would be instructed by the Sox TV director or producer NOT to focus on the signs, they'd be ignored if at all possible and that's assuming they aren't confiscated by security like the sign was Saturday night.- 305 replies

My only point is that one way or another Chicago will have an American League team in my opinion.

if you believe David Samson, he is.

Chicago is still the 3rd largest TV market in the country.

10th time this year the Sox had a lead in the 7th inning or later and lost the game. 65th time in 128 games played they scored three runs or less, 51% of all games.- 305 replies

I lived through the times in the late 60's / 70's when rumors were rampant...the Sox are moving to Milwaukee...to Seattle...to Denver...to New Orleans...even to Toronto. Didn't happen. They have a stadium lease that runs (I think) to the early 30's plus I seriously doubt the American League would cede the third largest TV market in the country to the National League. Just my opinion. If somehow this franchise did move at some point in the future (which I doubt) Chicago would get a relocated franchise or an expansion team.

Velasquez reinstated, Foster optioned to AAA

Given the organization's record since the start of the 2007 season you can assume that's exactly what they are doing aspiring to mediocrity. ? -

That's some low bar to aspire to for a baseball franchise, no? ? -
Except JR has consistently told his family to sell the Sox and keep the Bulls. Michael will not be running the franchise now or ever in my opinion.

Kelly that signing by TLR and Hahn now has an ERA of seven. He's owed 17 million dollars for two years. Think about that one.

My own personal take is that the Sox are finished and they should shut down Grandal, Anderson, Moncada, Jimenez and Robert for the season. Give them a head start on recovering, give them more time. Some of these guys may want to play in the WBC which means they'll need as much time off as they can get. While I always want to see the Sox at least have a winning season there really isn't much difference between 83 wins and 75. The Sox could improve their draft position by "tanking" the final month, just play the rookies, the scrubs and the guys who aren't coming back next year anyway. Then in the off season they need to do a house cleaning with the baseball side of the operations including the medical, training and conditioning staffs.

This is information gathered from the White Sox media guide and the Fox Sports web site: From the media guide: 2018-IL Hamstring (missed 5-5 to 5-14) 2019-IL Hamstring (missed 7-31 to 8-22) 2020-COVID (missed most of summer camp) 2021-Bruised hand (missed 7-1 to 7-4) 2022-IL Oblique (missed 4-7 to 5/9) 2022-Quad injury (couldn't find if he went on IL or not) 2022-Hamstring (missed 8/26 to ???) The Fox web site lists this under his injuries that caused him to miss time. They don't have specifics if he went on the IL or not. DATE INJURY 8/25/22 Hamstring 7/6/22 Foot 6/17/22 Hamstring 5/28/22 Quad 4/7/22 Oblique 7/1/21 Hand 6/15/21 Illness 8/29/20 Leg 7/30/19 Hamstring 6/26/19 Knee 6/16/19 Back 6/10/19 Back 6/2/19 Leg Soreness 5/5/18 Left hamstring tightness 5/4/18 Left hamstring tightness 4/21/18 Sore left hamstring

Interesting take, it's possible. He needs to do something, three suspensions in the past two years is not a good look for "the face of the franchise..."

I think both guys are flotsam and jetsam myself. Vince has had five or six years of mediocrity, he is what he is. He's not going to "suddenly" find it in my opinion. Another waste of money and roster space by the Sox G.M. -
You forgot the Tigers/Red Wings owner Mike Iilitch

Michael is running the Bulls, he's not going to take over two franchises.

All you can do is laugh...from Mark Gonzales' post game story: "La Russa, however, all but ruled out Robert heading to the 10-day injured list. “If he gets the weekend off and [with] the day off Monday and all of a sudden he’s ready Tuesday, he’s definitely worth it,” La Russa said." Left fielder Eloy Jimenez left the game in the ninth, three innings after appearing to limp while running out an infield hit.

Keep in mind while by all accounts TLR and most of this coaching staff should be fired, this organization actually extended Terry Bevington after the Sox collapsed in 1996 after a 40-21 start blowing a wild card position the final month. Bevington by all accounts was incompetent as a manager. But the fans and the media wanted him gone...JR doesn't like being told what he should do.

After winning five straight and moving to within a game of first place they've lost seven of nine and in my opinion are toast. Maybe they can finish with a winning record but that's a far cry from a "World Series contender." If they finish with a losing record Hahn will have presided over eight losing seasons in 10 years. How anyone could justify rationally keeping him in his position is beyond me.

Apparently the boos were raining down at the end of the game. TLR was asked about and he said, "They have every right to be upset-at the team, management, whatever, they've got every right to do it."
