Rick Hahn talks rebuild and collapse
Basically he has, no one else in baseball has hired him to do anything.

And that's a 4-2 White Sox Winner for three in a row!
Very possible but since they won't open their books to an independent auditor we have no way of knowing. I'd 'balance' your comment with the fact that MLB by Manfred's own admission is now a 13 billion dollar a year industry and they have more domestic and international monetary revenue streams then ever before. And JR and the White Sox get their cut. Plus in the majority of the years between 2018 and today the Sox have had very low payrolls, during the first rebuild for example for 2017-2019 they were either dead last or near the bottom in payroll in MLB...while still getting their cut from local deals, ticket sales, merchandise, parking et al. To say nothing of the very good stadium deal. Anything is possible unfortunately we'll never know for sure.

Luis Robert trade thread: La Pantera stays.
Absolutely correct...maybe the entire season. In the end like they have done literally every time since 1972 the owners will eventually fall apart and cave. The MLBPA will never agree to a salary cap that's been made clear but yet the owners keep dreaming. That's their choice of course. As I've said it won't bother me to much because unlike in 1981 and 1994 the Sox are still going to suck so missing games seeing them consistently lose will actually be a refreshing break for me.

Depends on your definition of "compete." JR is making money maybe that's his way of "competing." Look let's end this, please...MLB and the commissioner doesn't give a tinkers cuss about how bad the Sox have been, they like JR care about one thing $$$$$. Second JR IS NOT SELLING THE TEAM...not yesterday, not today, not tomorrow. As long as he is drawing breaths he is not selling and not giving up any real authority to anybody. Period, full stop, end of story. That's reality, deal with it as best you can and hope to still be alive when new ownership does come on board. Literally that's all you can do, nothing else you say or do matters in this situation. Even if you have two billion dollars laying around and called up JR and offered it to him for the team, he's say "no." With him it is ego, arrogance, $$$ and power. That's what matters to him. Again it really sucks for all the good fans who are left but that's reality.

Reasonable owners would agree with you, JR is not reasonable when it comes to paying players what they may be worth on the open market which is why he still dreams about a salary cap being instituted.

Robert barring an injury is as good as gone. There's no way around that reality.

Rick Hahn talks rebuild and collapse
I'm guessing that was a deliberate choice of words and a direct indictment of JR.

Extra ! Extra ! White Sox Winner !
PTATC: I guess my only response to your comments would be this. If money and team performance now determines coverage then the Sun-Times (whom I subscribe to as well as donate) needs to announce that Ben Pope will no longer be covering the Blackhawks full time including covering road games. That franchise has been garbage, among the worst in the NHL for the past several years...and the Sun-Times needs to announce that they are stripping down coverage of the Bears, they don't need three or four full time writers covering again one of the most dysfunctional, awful franchises in the NFL for decades, not years...the Bears last sustained run of success was 1984-1991. Fair is fair right? They can easily transfer say one of the full-time Bears beat writers, already a salaried employee so no additional expense, to the White Sox and say, "you're it this is your beat full time."

Extra ! Extra ! White Sox Winner !
The money is spent regardless of if it is on a single person or group of people. As a broadcaster myself I know how hard it is to "cover" a team if you are not around them on a regular basis so what the Sun-Times is doing doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Extra ! Extra ! White Sox Winner !
Just noticed something and thought this was the area for it. When DVS retired at the Sun-Times it looked like Kyle Williams (don't know him) was going to be the Sox beat writer and for early in the season that appeared to be the case. But lately they have been using a number of different folks to cover the club Jason Lieser (Bears writer) did a series, Vinnie Duber covers them on weekends when they are at home and they sent to Cincinnati one of their political reporters who has been covering attempts to get a new stadium for the Bears and Sox. Seems they do not have a main person for the team unlike the Cubs.

Pete Rose, Shoeless Joe, and other Black Sox members removed from MLB permanently banned list
The last name was a typo on my part and yes I know "Moose" was his nickname. Sat next to him upstairs in one of the suites at a game. Nice guy, had a lot of stories. Absolutely went off on Santo, had to laugh at what he was calling him.

True and as I was told by some of the players including Moose Swokron, Santo was told to stop drinking, that it would only cause more issues with his diabetes but he did not. He had good numbers but to me he was borderline Hall of Fame at best.

Old Saying.
Us vs. Them was pretty good too. Pissed off the Cubs, their fans and some in the media. And of course the billboard they put up near Wrigley Field that said "Real baseball 8.1 miles South." That was great as well and then JR specifically ordered it painted over because he didn't want to get into a pissing contest with the Cubs for some reason.

We have hope, we got The Pope!
I was told by people in the front office that when the Sox got to the World Series Cusack's representatives basically demanded tickets for him and really pissed off everyone. Those folks who dealt with him directly said he was an ass.

Father Time will do so.- Nancy Faust reflects...
Nancy being diplomatic: “Things had changed musically and my role was somewhat diminished.” said Faust of her departure. “But since then I’m aware of what’s going on at other ballparks and I think the role of the organist is somewhat highlighted again. https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/news/white-sox-longtime-organist-nancy-faust-returns-on-mothers-day- 5/11 Sox-Marlins (Happy Mother’s Day)
Nancy playing today at the park will probably be the highlight of the game.- Pirates on the Jerry Plan
Exactly. And they aren't the first team to have done this with their revenue sharing money. Bob Costas was on the Dan Patrick show a few days ago and ripped the Pirates a new one. - Old Saying.
