  1. 4 years, 55 million: https://www.mlb.com/news/nick-pivetta-padres-free-agent-contract
  2. JR just crapped in his pants! 😆 Glad he didn't go to the Cubs.
  3. If he's like some of the other recent Sox relief pitchers who got away from the shitshow (Hill, Kopech, Diekman) he'll do just fine.
  4. "The “dirty dozen” media members on hand Wednesday included a couple of Chicago Tribune reporters, only two from the five Chicago news stations and none from their flagship radio station. https://www.chicagotribune.com/2025/02/12/chicago-white-sox-spring-training-chris-getz/

  6. The one single unshakable tenant for the most powerful union in the world has been no agreement with anything that depresses or puts limits on salary for the rank and file aka a salary cap. It was true in the 1970's and is still true in the 2020's. If I had to bet I'd say you aren't going to have a lot of baseball, maybe none in 2027 because as union head Tony Clark recently said the union will never agree to a salary cap. And they shouldn't not with the money MLB is making something like 12 BILLION dollars a season.
  7. As I've said before it won't bother me in the slightest because in 2027, like 2026 and 2025 the White Sox will suck.
  8. Either way would be another inditement of this organization.
  9. All you can do is laugh. The good news is that at least it won't matter this season since they are going to be a disaster anyway.
  10. From a CBS Sportsline story today on things to watch for in the spring: 10. Early CBA bellyaching It is beginning much earlier than usual this time around. The current collective bargaining agreement expires in December 2026, and typically each side begins making their agenda known a year before the CBA expires. Already though, several owners, including Hal Steinbrenner (Yankees) and David Rubenstein (Orioles) are griping about spending, and commissioner Rob Manfred has dropped hints about pursuing a salary cap. "This is an issue that we need to be vigilant on," he told the Associated Press earlier this month. You need not worry about a work stoppage this season or next. Clearly though, the next round of CBA talks will be a heavyweight fight, with another lockout during the 2026-27 offseason looking increasingly likely. Tensions are already beginning to flare.
  11. Given the uncertainty surrounding Thorpe and the usual incompetence from the Sox organization anybody who projects him to be a solid starter (at least without TJS) is delusional.
  12. My God when you actually see this on paper it could actually be worse than the garbage on the team collectively from last year. https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/news/white-sox-2025-opening-day-roster I have flashbacks to the original movie "Major League." 🤯
  13. https://www.chicagotribune.com/2025/02/10/tampa-bay-rays-stadium-deadline/
  14. Dr. Fletcher got back to me tonight and he said that JR's comments had nothing to do with the selection of Phillies for Dick's hat. Again he didn't elaborate.
  15. Dr. Fletcher one of the author's of the "Chili Dog MVP" book and a close friend of the family who was at the announcement told me tonight the cap issue is a "long story." He didn't elaborate. I hope he can provide more details at some point.
  16. With the Sox "luck" they'll lose 108 games and get the #4 pick. 😆
  17. Latest reports are he'll sign with either the Cubs, Red Sox or Tigers. If he doesn't sign with the Cubs they are supposedly looking at Justin Turner.
  18. JR has gone on record as saying publicly he didn't think Allen was a Hall of Famer. I don't know if that had any impact or not over the years.
  19. The Hall of Fame announced today that Dick Allen will be wearing a Phillies cap on his Hall of Fame plaque. Which is unfortunate since in one of his last interviews before he died Dick told Paul Sullivan of the Tribune he wanted to go in wearing a White Sox cap.
  20. Many of those fans may simply be attending to watch the other team or to see superstars like LeBron, Anthony Davis, Luka, Nikola et al. Granted the money still goes to the organization but I wouldn't say that every fan or even most fans who attend are Bulls fans. Not after basically seeing garbage for the last 25 years.
  21. You are correct. Washington said it would be built across the street from the original park or he would tell his people on the Stadium Authority to vote 'no.'
  22. I know he had back issues last year. If the Sox cut him while he has a legit injury that could be grounds for a case before an arbiter. I think he has a few more years on his deal so I agree this is a little strange. Not saying he's any good, he probably isn't but given their situation what do the Sox have to lose by keeping him, hope he rebounds and they can get something for him.
  23. Herb Washington when he was with Oakland?
  24. Best case scenario is some of the veterans play well enough to get something for them at the trade deadline, that some of the kids actually show they belong in the Major Leagues, that the injury situation which has gutted this team the past several years stabilizes and that Chris Getz doesn't get taken advantage of as often as he has been. That's all I can think of.
