  1. True, but if Trubisky and the Bears keep playing like they are, I won't care at all about what we gave up to acquire him
  2. I heard Theo Epstein was very interested in him as well before finding out he doesn't play baseball
  3. For the Bulls? I'd say no. Seems like a total headcase who wouldn't accept coming off the bench (which is what happened in Philly, where he magically became severely injured soon after a demotion). No way I'd want to start him over Dunn/LaVine even if it would help the tank.
  4. I feel like the question could even be made more extreme: .925 OPS and 200 strikeouts or .700 OPS and 25 strikeouts in the same amount of PAs, and Twitter would still take the second guy.
  5. I’d take anything Vinnie Duber says with a grain of salt
  6. Agreed. I fully expected to lose one of the last two games, and since we beat Minnesota, I saw this as a probable loss. But there are just far too many playmakers on our defense for that to have happened.
  7. A team with great interior linemen is a touch matchup for him. Their rushing stats are misleading because teams have had more success against them running outside (with guys like Cohen), and before they acquired Damon Harrison.
  8. That’s true. But if he were as good as the Twitter guys are trying to say he is, he would have gotten a shot as a starter somewhere in the past decade. That’s my point.
  9. Yeah the measurement has room for error, but even with error, Robert’s time is *so much* better than anyone else’s in baseball that it could be legit.
  10. I agree with you, I don’t know how option B won that poll. People are so anti-strikeouts that they’re letting it outweigh practically every other metric.
  11. Yeah, there's a reason he's in his 30s and has 480 career passing yards. I think the Lions win this one. Hope I'm wrong.
  12. You said the same thing about Abreu in June, and claimed that Greg Bird was a better hitter, and then Abreu went on a tear (positive regression to the mean) before his injury issues
  13. Uh-oh, Madrigal fans aren't gonna like this guy.
  14. Legality aside, Herb Lawrence is a dick
  15. Trubisky doubtful, Shaheen and Lynch out for tomorrow.
  16. To your original question, I got that conclusion from combining this info: https://www.fangraphs.com/fantasy/2017-home-to-first-times/
  17. Wasn't me but I was definitely one of the bigger Clarkin supporters. He was having a fine year before the injuries, after a good 2017. Wouldn't be surprised if he became a MLBer eventually but at the same time, his durability concerns are real so I understand the decision.
  18. "Probably"? I think you mean definitely. But no, I think leaving two spots open means we want room for a FA, but not one of those two (necessarily).
  19. Ryan LaMarre is now on the Braves. That's why the number changed
  20. Man 8-3 would look so nice but I'm not getting my hopes up
  21. I have a really weird feeling about the Bears game where they're either gonna come out and make a statement and win 35-10, or get completely embarrassed and fall by the same score. Now that I'm posting this the final score will probably be something like 24-21.
  22. The Samardzija trade rumors were intense on Thanksgiving week too, then died down the next week and picked back up again at the meetings. However I agree with Bigsoxhurt35 that we probably won't hear much this time around.
  23. There's way too much "Harper is overrated because of WAR" going on here. We're talking about a guy who, over his last four seasons, has never had an OBP lower than .373. That's not even factoring in his power or the fact that he is just now entering his prime. Diminishing him to "he's just 17 WAR in 6 seasons" is a pretty weak argument to me. If you really think that Travis Shaw and Marcus Semien (higher WAR than Harper in 2018) were better than Harper last year then I don't know what to tell you other than you might want to rely less on WAR.
