  1. 2-4, 2B, BB, with the 2 outs being a rocket ground out and a called strike 3 (but a bad call). Great day
  2. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 7, 2018 -> 04:23 PM) Feel bad for Castillo. Sox pitchers give him 0 chance to throw people out. It sure doesn't help that he lollipops all of his throws. They're so slow, I don't know what his deal was today.
  3. QUOTE (Richie @ Apr 7, 2018 -> 03:46 PM) Moncada is honestly swinging the bat extremely well outside of ONE game so far... Nope, he's trash and we need to panic
  4. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Apr 7, 2018 -> 11:05 AM) The ball player or board member? I kid I kid. I can't hit well in the cold, so he definitely meant me. But the joke's on him, because I can't hit well in any weather anymore!
  5. I like him but as southsider said, I think a lot of it is also Renteria. Additionally, I'm not gonna give either of them credit for Davidson or Engel, as I still don't think either of them are/will be MLB hitters. But we'll see, I hope they prove me wrong.
  6. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 09:02 PM) I’d take Engel’s glove over Leury’s without question, although Engel’s arm is pretty weak. Yeah, Engel's lack of an arm is what makes Leury more valuable by a lot of metrics. That's what I was getting at
  7. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 02:18 PM) Delmonico and L. Garcia are not outfielders, they are liabilities right now at that position. They are infielders or in Delmonico's case, a DH. Leury is our best defensive outfielder.
  8. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 08:56 PM) https://twitter.com/darenw/status/982323596516315136/photo/1 Moncada sixth in average exit velocity. Yesterday aside, he has looked like one of our most impressive hitters so far. And that's saying something, given how well our offense has been
  9. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 09:53 AM) Here's an objective measure: at this rate he's going to strike out 286 times. Again, I believe he's going to be a good player. I'm not sure he'll ever be GREAT, as sometimes hyped prospects tend to not be great. However, he's been less than impressive to start the year. Hopefully by July, he's striking out less and getting on base more. Come on, I know you know that rate stats are meaningless with a 6 game sample. At this point, aside from eye test, all we can really do to judge him is look at his batted ball stats. I would be worried if he has been making weak contact and whatnot, but he is hitting the ball impressively. Soon enough, the luck will even out.
  10. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 09:49 AM) I'm taking deep breaths. I'm not panicking. I'm just not ready to say that he's looking better than fine. Well, the objective measures would suggest otherwise.
  11. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 02:31 AM) Charlotte has decided to make Kopech their #5 starter and completely f*** up my chances to see him. He's now lined up for Friday, barring a postponed game for Charlotte. It was said on Wednesday night's Sox broadcast that Kopech would be Charlotte's opening day starter. I've been told that he isn't injured, but I still can't help but wonder...
  12. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 09:40 AM) He's 4-26 with 11 K's. You can try to talk yourself into him looking "better than fine" due to how many BARRELS he's had or whatever, but he hasn't looked "better than fine." Then I guess we're watching different games. Prior to yesterday, he has looked great.
  13. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 6, 2018 -> 08:48 AM) I wouldn't necessarily say that Moncada "looks fine." True, he looks better than fine
  14. QUOTE (Richie @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 08:01 PM) No one is comparing the two players. The point is that taking this much away from one April game is utterly silly. By the same logic that says today is a red flag for Moncada - We should have been celebrating the home run and clutch RBI double in KC like he had somehow staked a claim in the big leagues and proven himself. It's absurd logic. This whole thread from the meltdown point in the game has gotten rather absurd. This was 6 plate appearances in what should be a 700 plate appearance season for Moncada. We should make an attempt to act rationally and treat it as such. lol Welcome to Soxtalk my friend, I think we're gonna get along well!
  15. I look forward to 2 weeks from now when his numbers are inevitably better. I feel like it's April 22nd (insert year here) and I'm dealing with one of those annual "Abreu has been figured out" threads. Except here the sample size is even more outrageous. He was an .800 OPS hitter from August to October last year, for crying out loud. That isn't even that cherry picked either, I'm only excluding his first 10 or so games which I'll give him as an adjustment period
  16. QUOTE (Baron @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 07:30 PM) Sending him down? Yeah that definitely wont look like an overreaction. 6. games. I'm not even gonna waste my time going through the first 6 game stats of some good players to prove a point. It's ridiculously early in the season to be wanting to send top prospects down
  17. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 07:24 PM) Yep. It reminds me of why I haven't posted in the game threads much in the past. Way too many emotional knee jerk reactions. Yeah, it's especially funny to me that right when it started to unravel, 3-4 known trolls came out of the woodwork
  18. QUOTE (SonofaRoache @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 07:24 PM) He's been inconsistent for a while now. He'll put it together but the criticism is warranted, as many here are critical of Judge and he is lightyears ahead of Moncada. Criticism is warranted, but much of it is overboard
  19. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 07:20 PM) He'll be fine. R E L A X Seriously. He's had 1-2 bad games this season and apparently the sky is falling. I'm a sabermetrics guy but jesus, it's been 6 games and people actually care about his rate stats? Watch the game, perhaps. He's hitting the ball well and has been quite unlucky, aside from today being just awful of course.
  20. QUOTE (kwolf68 @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 07:07 PM) Sox have played 6 games and have gotten credible to excellent starts in 5 of the 6....so there is that. The pen is a mess. This team will be like 2014 where the pen is the main factor holding them back from being decent
