7/31 White Sox vs Yankees 7:10 PM CT
Jose Abreu replied to Jose Abreu's topic in 2015 Season in Review
QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jul 31, 2015 -> 12:24 AM) I didn't mean it in a bad way. It's a compliment. I thought you were an adult for sure. I'm only 16 anyway lol. I basically assume that everyone on here is an adult. It's nice to know that there are other people my age here. I'm basically 16 too, my birthday's in a couple weeks. But yeah, I post on Soxtalk a lot; I find it cool that there are so many people with unique opinions on our team that I can interact with. Most of my friends are Sox fans, but only a couple are die-hards. Sadly, there aren't many young fans like us anymore. The only drawback to being this young on Soxtalk is not getting the historical references all the time! The first Sox team I followed in a "die-hard" fashion was that lowly 07 team. It was pretty rough. Many people assume my first team was 05- I really wish it could have been that way. If that was your first team, I'm definitely jealous! -

LaRoche to sit out first two BOS games

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 11:38 PM) After reading the article and about how LaRoche holds the bat/ I see a lot of players gripping the bat that way with their pinky on or below the knob. Abreu is one for sure. Isn't he also having a hand problem or is it a thumb ? Abreu had a finger issue but it's healed. -

After a day of some bigger rumors for us, it's been an oddly quiet rumor night.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 10:51 PM) Can somebody ask one of the Sox beat writers on Twitter this question or give me the answer? If Sox would have won tonight, they would have swept two straight four-game series. My question is: Would that have been the first time in Sox history the team has won two straight four-game series on the road? Or won two four-game series anywhere consecutively? It's not mathematically easy to win a four-game series. I'm thinking had they won tonight it may have been a first in franchise history. There aren't a lot of four-game series to begin with and I somehow doubt Sox have won two straight four-game series on the road since probably the 50s or 60s or even before that. Can't find the tweet, but I vaguely remember one of the beat writers saying we had done it sometime in the 50s

QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 10:36 PM) Cubs don't need Middlebrooks But it could've been a "We'll only give you Ross if you take Middlebrooks as well" type of thing. Like Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis.
-
QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 10:36 PM) They will probably want Q ...........................I would pass. For Carlos Gonzalez? That would be quite the overpay. I think we can get him for a package centered around Montas and/or Danish.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 10:33 PM) Most of those 100 games were when he was young. He has played less than 25 the last 5 years. Right field tends to be harder for a left handed outfielder. I'm not saying his defense in right will be good. His defense in left isn't even good. But, he can at least play RF if needed. I can think of many left handed right fielders. Pretty sure De Aza played some RF for us.
-
QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 10:24 PM) UGGGH Middlebrooks is Gillaspie with more pop And worse contact... a comparison solely on hitting- he's like a right handed Adam LaRoche with less-pop
-
QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 10:12 PM) Where does Cespedes play???? Melky has very limited experience in RF. Now if you can trade LaRoche for Cespesdes it would work in that Melky goes to DH. But no way that happens. The Tigers will want a young pitcher. cespedes is also a below average fielder although he has a great arm Melky can play RF. He's played 100+ games over there. It's not as different from LF as you'd think.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 10:11 PM) My overreacting isn't over the fact of a bad loss but the fact of looking at a small portion of 25 games against consistently bad for most of the year. Again the sox have to win a lot of game the rest of the year to contend. They've shown winning for a stretch of the last 25 games but alot of losing before that. Maybe they changed but time will tell. I'm not trying to attack you specifically or anything. My point is, for the past few days, everyone has been posting in the Buyer thread. There was absolutely no talk of selling during this streak, and after one loss, there suddenly is.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 10:05 PM) So you replace one bad bat with a better one but still have holes. Find me a baseball team without a single hole.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 10:19 PM) Quick to steal my thunder. With that said, let's win another series. Just annoyed by all the overreacting, want to keep looking forward -
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 10:02 PM) Buying a bat. Can't change your mind because of one rainy s***ty game facing a knuckleballer. Same here. The overreaction after the inevitable loss, while expected, is still mind-boggling.
-
QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 10:01 PM) And yet the team is still under .500 with quit a bit of offensive holes Which is what Upton/Cespedes would help. The fact that we're under .500 is irrelevant when we're what, 2.5, 3 games out of a playoff spot?
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 09:56 PM) Yes, but you can argue with our rs/ra ratio, all the dramatic late comebacks from down 3-4 runs in the first six weeks or so (there must have been five or six of them), the fact that we're playing two rookies on the infield who have never been through a pennant race, there's just a lot of factors arrayed against them (along with the upcoming schedule). Baltimore's been really quiet, and Minnesota hasn't made a move, either. You'd have to imagine they will all come up with something in the next 17 hours or so. Yes, but it's also very hard to give up on a team that was built to contend and has won 17 of 26 games.

Still 17-9 since the first Cardinals series
-
QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 09:48 PM) Yes but going winning 7 games in a row after starting off the Second half going 1-5 shouldn't have changed their mines either Yes, it should have... we were literally inches away from being 3-3 those games, and don't forget we went something like 9-3 right before that 1-5 stretch.
-
Starting this early because I'm already looking forward to it. Let's get back to our winning ways. Our hitters haven't seen much of Eovaldi. Melky is 2-3 off him, though. This could be our last game without Upton/Cespedes/new bat in our lineup.
-
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 09:43 PM) Lets get to .500 and go from there.............Sox brass in a very tough spot tonight, should be interesting to see. Losing one game shouldn't change their minds
-
Carlos and Melky hitting streaks have been snapped. That's game.
-
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 30, 2015 -> 09:40 PM) Why we brought him up is beyond me. He sucks He's basically Bonifacio.
-
With that strikeout, Garcia's average drops 500 points.
-
Good take on 2-2
