One issue for #Orioles if they go with Cespedes over Davis: Team’s lineup is awfully right-handed. Cespedes only would add to imbalance. https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/687838527896313858 Also, FWIW: Cespedes career .723 OPS vs. AL East, compared with .817 vs. AL Central and .837 vs. AL West. Samples vs. NL divisions smaller.. https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/687838564097339392

Didnt the Sox have some money they were trying to offer shark. Is that money still floating around or did they spend it on something we don't know about.

Orioles thing could be way to get davis and white sox to budge. Went from Sox were supposed to get one of Gordon or Cespedes and nothing has been said for sox lately on it.

QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jan 13, 2016 -> 05:33 PM) Weird than Rosenthal didn't include a 4th year in that tweet. Makes me wonder if he's already lowering down into a 4/5 year expectation. I think mets only want to go maybe max of 3 years which seems same place for sox. I think he was wanting like 6 years so a good difference in years.

Sources: For #Mets to engage on Cespedes, they would need to hear from his agents that he is willing to entertain short-term deal… https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/687416576446967809 Agents have not given #Mets any indication that Cespedes would accept deal of 1, 2 or 3 years. Cespedes remains committed to longer term. https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/687416581509525508

Problem for #Angels in potential Blackmon trade is that they likely would need to give up major-league pitching; difficult for them to do. https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/687060841980669953 #Angels’ farm system was depleted even before they made trade for Simmons. #Rockies likely would see little value in their prospects. https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/687061231581196295

I'm not that worried about how things are going with sox and Cespedes. Doesn't seem to be huge market for him and the other teams that might have interest are either getting other options or looking at other options. I know it's been quiet lately but the Sox haven't seemed to moved on and got somebody else if they know they can't get it done. Remember jerry has been said to be veery aggressive at times and he wants to win if that means spending some money.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 05:30 PM) While Dickerson and Blackmon are valuable, they still don't hold as much value as CarGo so the price should be lower on Dickerson and Blackmon. How much lower is the question and I honestly do not have the answer, none of us do unless a rumor leaks to give us some indication. IMHO, Cespedes 20M+ expected annual salary was never very realistic without the Sox moving salary first. I never did believe JR would raise the payroll from 118M in '15 to 140M+ in '16. Sorry, but Cespedes has been nothing but a pipe dream the whole time and its time for the Sox and fans to turn their attention another direction. Yes we may think they don't have as much value but it's up to the Rockies who they decide how much value they have. If they are wanting Quintana in return for cargo I'm sure they are wanting a good amount for the other 2. Don't think the Sox will pay that value for any of them so see if another team does. Cespedes I don't believe is a not realistic option. If that's the case then why haven't the Sox moved on and gotten a second tier outfielder then. Seems there isn't a huge market for him and it's playing into the Sox hands. Remember it's been said that Jerry is one of the biggest aggressive people in the Sox front office and he's wants to win.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 05:15 PM) Wouldn't mind a trade for one of Blackmon/Dickerson and sign Jackson. Eaton in LF, Jackson in CF, Blackmon/Dickerson in RF, Melky at DH, LaRoche as a bench bat and trade Avi for whatever a team is willing to give. The issues is the sox don't want to give up the talent that the Rockies are wanting for cargo do you honestly think they will for blackmon or dickerson. Those 2 can easily be looking at one of the top sox prespects in return. Sox haven't been reluctant to trade the top prospects up until now can't seem them changing that. Thats why Cespedes looks alot better for them.

CarGo, Blackmon and Dickerson are the #Rockies’ OFers in play. #Tigers built up pitching depth last July. Also could turn to lesser FA OFer. https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/687042973608099840

QUOTE (shysocks @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 03:27 PM) This exactly. I'm tired of the "only one full season" line. Fine, but he hasn't shown anything. We have no reason to believe he'll ever be a good baseball player, other than he was about an 80th-ranked prospect at one point. And those guys wash out. All. The. Time. He needs to show that he is good at something, because so far he hasn't shown anything. Nothing. Less than nothing. I hope if I were given 600 plate appearances last year and performed as you might expect I would, nobody here would be like, "Yeah, but he hasn't really been given much of a chance..." If Avi has a role next year it will be a very bad thing. So he time Anderson performs the same in one full season are you going to give him another chance or ready to dump him.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 03:08 PM) Davidson and Avi being horrible busts has really hurt Kinda funny that avi has had one full season and now he's considered a horrible bust.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 12:33 PM) I could see them still going after Davis if they get Dickerson I don't. They still need pitching

Carlos Gonzalez is signed for 2 more yrs at $17 and $20 mil. Same 2-year window as Frazier. Won't have to pay Cespedes 4 years. Just sayin. https://twitter.com/ChuckGarfien/status/686975117012893696

If #Rockies trade significant OF bat after signing Parra, they could further complicate markets for Cespedes, Upton, Fowler. https://twitter.com/jonmorosi/status/686974380052582400

If White Sox really want another left handed hitting OF, there's a surplus now in Colorado with signing of Parra. Someone will be dealt. https://twitter.com/ChuckGarfien/status/686974043107540992

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 07:12 PM) Considering we got Frazier and Lawrie for Montas and Wendelken, amongst others, it all balances out. That's good scouting. Still it took 5 players to get those 2. Sox can't afford to keep trading out players to fill position needs.
-
QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 07:05 PM) I never heard this. What I heard happened was Hahn wanted Middlebrooks and KW wanted Avi. Both players aren't good. Luckily they did well with Montas/Wendelken. Are coaching staffs expected to make every player a star? Not expecting a star but can't even get them to be average player is an issue. So yes they can do something with pitching but can't fully get position players to be good
-
QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 06:04 PM) You guys probably are reading too far into it. Sox think highly of Avi from what I've heard. Hard worker, good attitude but not good at baseball. Isn't that the point of a coaching staff to help make him better.

I think Cespedes is holding up the market more than Davis is. But some of this has nothing to do with either of them https://t.co/ZqArou2jqZ https://twitter.com/jaysonst/status/686654828148342790 Someone asked Jayson if Davis is holding up the market and his reply
