  1. It's not Wednesday yet. Will have to be patient lol
  2. QUOTE (blackmooncreeping @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 10:09 AM) 30 hr's between Avi and Melky would be a lot to expect: Melky hasn't hit double digit longballs since 2009 (when he hit 13), and Avi's career high total of 13 last season was nearly double what he had hit in any previous season. 20 hr's between the 2 would be more realistic imo, if we are stuck with those 2 players as the corner outfielders. By the way, Avi hit those 13 hr's in 601 ab's--if Avi sees 601 ab's for the Sox in 2016, he's either made a sudden and massive jump in ability or more than likely, we're in trouble after having whiffed on all upgrade possibilities. You might want to recheck your stats. Melky has hit double digits in home runs since 2009. He hit 18 in 2011, 11 in 2012, 16 in 2014 and 12 last year.
  3. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 01:31 AM) ^I agree man, well said. We're for sure going for it. That's why we have Frazier and the catcher position looks super solid in theory. I'm all in too so I think they're trying to sign Gordon AND Cespedes w Melky at Dh. Avi & Laroche Sanchez on the bench. Eaton Gordon Abreu Frazier Cespedes Melky Catcher Lawrie Saladino Laroche, Sanchez, Shuck, Avi and the new catcher are great bench bats. Great for platooning tough relievers late in the game. I'd love that bench. Too many bench pieces. Bench would be 4 players cause the Sox generally carry 12 man pitching staff. That leaves 13 for position players and with 9 including dh that only leaves 4 players for bench
  4. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 27, 2015 -> 12:18 PM) Meh, sounds more like hard-ball between KC and Gordon. Gordon wants to stay in KC but KC does not want to pay the FA market price so KC could be relying on Gordon's desire to stay in hopes he will eventually accept a "home town" discount. I really think the Sox level of interest has been over blown by the local media. It's not just local media. It's national writers saying Sox are interested.
  5. Sox could be putting offers out but not the final one. I'm sure when ever the Sox put their final offer in KC will get last chance to offer

  7. If Daniel Murphys contract is finalized that moves Sox up to 27 pick http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/12/upda...medium=facebook
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 24, 2015 -> 07:22 PM) Sox aren't getting Cargo. Merkin has mentioned a few times the Rockies are asking for Q in return Reds were asking for Anderson/Quintana/fulmer and still got Frazier with out giving them up

  12. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 24, 2015 -> 05:55 PM) Cespedes in LF, Melky to DH and Avi/Shuck in RF. One of the problems I have with signing any of Upton/Cespedes/Gordon is they are all left Fielders and their best defense played is LF. All are upgrades over Melky in LF but none help the RF which is also a problem. Unless the Sox put Shuck in RF more often since he does play solid RF defense. Ya this is the conundrum I'm trying to figure out. Seems like they are trying to replace avi cause he's not living up to expectations. Getting gordon doesn't fix that. It upgrades leftfield but now leave Melky without a spot. He hasn't played RF in a couple years. If Laroche is traded then Melky cam go to DH but that still leaves avi in right. Upton hasn't played significant time in rf since 2012. Cespedes I can't find him having played other position then CF and LF. I think he could maybe handle RF ok. So if the are truly on gordon I don't know what they are going to do. Only other thought is getting gordon, then many trying to trade for cargo. Could use Laroche, avi and spects to get cargo then play gordon in left with Melky going to dh. Not fully understanding everything.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 24, 2015 -> 12:32 PM) He's not getting constantly hit. Some guys don't age well. He is the type IMO, athletic but not dependent on extreme speed, who should age fine. He isn't a particularly big guy, which seems to take its toll faster on the legs. I just think ultimately any top free agent you sign, you are going to have to commit a lot of money to years some would consider old. Yes but he missed some time due to a groin injury last year. So does anyone know if that's a just one time thing or can start affecting him further or more leg injuries to pop up?
  14. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 24, 2015 -> 12:29 PM) Phil Rogers on ESPN1000 in a minute...I'm sure he'll try to get Robertson traded again. Ha. Doubt he talks about sox. Since he went over to cubs land he kinda just throws crap out of his butt for sox talk. Not really trying to put much effort in.
  15. Hahn was saying before he was looking at more of defensive outfielder which gordon is. Just not sold on him with him being older of the 3. Plus with him having the groin injury last year that worries about further injuries
  16. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 24, 2015 -> 12:00 PM) And? Teams can have serious talks and have nothing happen between them. Just because they didn't get a Reds catcher doesn't mean talks weren't serious. National media was already linking Sox to navarro as soon as flowers was let go.
  17. QUOTE (Sockin @ Dec 24, 2015 -> 11:42 AM) FWIW raBBit is saying Gordon is the Sox top target and they are in the process of extending an offer. Sox are surprised that they're that they're this far along with him but aren't sure that he's in yet. https://twitter.com/ChiSoxraBBit/status/680058757322244097 https://twitter.com/ChiSoxraBBit/status/680058757322244097 https://twitter.com/ChiSoxraBBit/status/680064910890373120 Not trying to knock anything but been skeptical on rabbit. Said before Sox were in serious talks with reds on catcher then Sox got navarro. Also said that the Heyman thing with sox still heavily involved in talk with Reds for Frazier was cooled off then next day Sox trade for him.
  18. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Dec 23, 2015 -> 09:22 PM) For what it's worth, Dan Hayes doesnt think we'll do much: Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 4h4 hours ago @mprotolipac24 I don't think they're doing anything Dan Hayes ‏@CSNHayes 4h4 hours ago @mprotolipac24 I don't think it's happening. But again never ruling anything out with them. Not like he's going to tell you ya the sox are getting this guy.
  19. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 23, 2015 -> 01:58 PM) I find that hard to believe. Unless he's takes a huge hometown discount to return to the royal, they are still in need of a starting pitcher. That's like between 25 to 30 million to try to get a starter and sign gordon. Not sure they can swing that.
  20. as things stand now, royals told chances are nil to keep gordon. other OFs (and SP) theyre weighing https://t.co/CtYsVNCwEy https://twitter.com/JonHeymanCBS/status/679741429804068864

  23. Sources: #WhiteSox showing interest in Alex Gordon, among others. Gordon appeals for several reasons: Knows division, LHH, defense, makeup. https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/679344296647131140 Question is whether #WhiteSox could pay Gordon enough to pry him from #Royals. Team would be left with Melky, LaRoche, Garcia at RF/DH. https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/679344301374087169 #WhiteSox could trade one of those players - preferably LaRoche, who will earn $13M in ’16. Wouldn’t be easy with Alvarez, Carter among FAs. https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/679344306247876608
  24. QUOTE (shysocks @ Dec 22, 2015 -> 10:14 AM) Fangraphs: Avisail Garcia's Uncomfortable Situation Relevant, because some suggest it would be acceptable to waste more plate appearances and more innings on Avisail Garcia. Unfortunately the bigger issue is why the white sox can't correct issues in the offensive side of player.
