  1. Rick Hahn says it's been "a busy 24 hours." The bulk of the White Sox focus has been on improving the offense. https://twitter.com/ChuckGarfien/status/673991323297447936 If there's a player the White Sox want right now and they can backload the contract past 2016, don't see why they wouldn't go after him. https://twitter.com/ChuckGarfien/status/674038536853680128 Could White Sox make another big splash this winter? They do have $28.7 million off the books from Danks and LaRoche after 2016. https://twitter.com/ChuckGarfien/status/674038473028972544 There will be raises for Sale, Quintana, Abreu, Eaton, etc. in 2017...but there will still be about $20 million off the table. https://twitter.com/ChuckGarfien/status/674038918455664641
  2. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 06:36 PM) Angels have joined the race for Lawrie. I seriously don't know what the Sox will do if they don't get him. Sign the Japanese 3B? Probably play Olt lol
  3. QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 09:57 AM) Was watching MLB network this weekend and one of the Sox-beat reporters was only chatting about the Club. He said that right now, Saladino is the plan for the starting SS position. Has anyone heard the same? He's the option at this point but think they will try to get a stop gap. Hell when mlb network was doing the al central preview they thought sanchez was the ss right now till dan hayes had to correct them and say saladino was more of the ss but might be looking for an upgrade for now
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 10:37 AM) He made it seem like Cespedes could be more likely due to no pick lost Well they did try to get him at the deadline. With no pick attached and the outgoing personality could make him a big target for sox.
  5. From Nashville: I still don't believe the White Sox will add any free agent that will cost them a draft pick. https://twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/673900680839565313 I've been wrong before, and I probably will be again at some time. But as of now, I feel confident on that one https://twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/673900812796563456 White Sox are targeting infield: 3B, SS even 2B. But their real target is simply making dynamic improvements to a poor '14 offense overall https://twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/673901294269132800
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 08:17 AM) If Beane would have kept Donaldson, he could get a lot better prospects today, if prospects are your thing. Beane also traded a top 5 in baseball prospect for Shark. So if the Sox were stupid, what was he? He ultimately got a bunch of meddling guys for a top 5 in baseball prospect SS and an MVP 3B making Zach Duke money. Yeah, he is a genius alright. Be afraid to trade with Billy Beane. Be very afraid. And yet he's had the A's in the playoffs 3 times in the last 5 years. Sox were "rebuilding" but that's because they didn't hame much of a minor leagues to fix issues. Billy Beane trades off parts to aquire as much talent as possible. Some might not be anything but he does get some to work which is more then the sox have at the point.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 08:06 AM) LMAO. An MVP 3rd baseman making $4.3 million. Getting paid less than Zach Duke, and you think what they received for him was a decent haul? 2 mediocre pitchers, an 19 year old who hasn't hit the U.S. yet and a guy they are trying to sell low. Also remember you have to pay the players you receive in a trade. It was ultimately an awful return. A horrible trade. If the White Sox did that you would be calling for heads to roll. Yes and Donaldson is going to be getting over 10 million next year. A's can't afford that. Do you have a crystal ball to know how the prospect are going to turn out. Again they are probably going to trade Lawrie which now turns into more prospects for Donaldson. Sox made at stupid trade for shark. Traded 4 players for one year rental which was a bad overall deal plus if they magical sign a player with QO then they get nothing for shark.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 07:41 AM) Donaldson.made $4.3 million his MVP year, and won't be a free agent for 3 more seasons. Try again. Well he's going to get more expensive through arbitration and they were mostly likely going never going sign him to an extension. That 4.3 million is a 3.8 million increase from previous year. A's saved the growing increase in arbitration and get prospects back. How about you try it again
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 06:42 AM) Addison Russell and Josh Donaldson. Beane turned that into Marcus Semien and Danny Valencia. Josh Donaldson turned into 4 players including Brett Lawrie. If they trade him for say 3 prospects or so then that's 6 prospects for Donaldson they would never be able afford
  10. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 08:21 PM) He's getting 4 years (at least). Could we be that mystery team? http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/12/mets...ur-years-2.html Been stated a couple times that he wants to go to contender. Sox aren't a contender right now and will take alot to get them there.
  11. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2015/12/06/don...eff-samardzija/ Cooper on shark
  12. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 07:28 PM) How about actually rebuilding? What good does Frazier do? Keep these prospects and build that way. Every year the same discussion is brought up. Frazier doesn't make the Sox a playoff team in 2016. Signing a 3B over 30 who had a rough 2nd half combined with the fact that their best prospect- Fulmer- would have to be involved is a horrible idea. So how do you expect the Sox to get the position players they need for future in catcher, 3rd baseman, among others. Sox can't draft and really develop position players. Only real development they do is pitchers which is a huge wanted commodity. So Sox trade pitching to get the position players they don't have. Definitely wouldn't be trading fulmer even though right now can't be traded
  13. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 07:05 PM) Stay far away from 2 year rents with .660 2nd half OPS'. Will do nothing but set the Sox back. Enough damage was done last year with clowning like this. The second half ops is still higher then the sox total production at 3rd. He hit a .922 on the first half.
  14. QUOTE (spiderman @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 06:33 PM) Any concern that Frazier had a second half decline after his all-start first half? Wondering if the homerun derby affected him a bit
  15. QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 12:43 PM) That's not really how it works... Saying that's not how it works vs actually explaining it isnt helping
  16. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 12:32 PM) Cespedes just had a career year, I'd rather not pay the price tag that comes along with it. Heyward will definitely be worth his contract, defense in general is still very underrated. Preventing a run is the same as generating one. Hate to say it but preventing a run is not as same as generating one. Saladino had 12 defensive runs saved at 3rd which is like tops in baseball at 3rd base. Sanchez had 6 defensive runs saved at 2nd. Unfortunately both helped the Sox have the worst offense in baseball at those position this year. If Heywards defense regresses then you don't have much of a player if his offense doesn't pick up.
  17. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 12:00 PM) Only reason why I'm ok with them signing him. I don't really want either Upton or Cespedes (depending on amount of years) personally. Upton just seems like the kind of guy that would come here and just suck. Injury prone, K's a lot, below average defense. Pass. Although if they signed one of those two I would probably be irrationally excited until we found out either were bad deals. I would prefer Cespedes cause he's played an in AL and doesnt have a pick attached
  18. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 10:59 AM) I think it's possible that the Sox still go after Heyward anyway. Not sure if they are willing to give up the draft pick for him or any other with qualifying offers attached
  19. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 10:21 AM) Right handed starters on FA market that would interest me: Kenta Maeda Henderson Alvarez Trevor Cahill Doug Fister Edwin Jackson's Mat Latos Tim Lincecum Brandon Morrow Also Mike leake
  20. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 10:15 AM) I'd love it if they'd throw Danks in the bullpen as the long man, but they won't do that. Can't see them doing that. Can still start tho numbers aren't great tho not many 5th starters are great.
  21. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 10:12 AM) So you think they add a righty, keep Johnson, trade Q for a haul? Don't see them eating any money to move Danks so he should be locked into a spot. Thats one way to go is keep johnson and trade Quintana to fill alot of holes. Or you include johnson in a trade then you still have 4 lefties and open spots in rotation. So yes needing another right handed starter somewhere
  22. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 6, 2015 -> 09:51 AM) Really seems like they don't want to go with Erik Johnson. I don't think that a second. Sox have 4 lefties with one righty. They are basically trying to get what they were supposed to have this year is a righty in the number 2 spot that shark was to fill which didn't happen
  23. Japanese 3B Nobuhiro Matsuta of Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks has signed with the Legacy Agency. Peter Greenberg representing. https://twitter.com/jcrasnick/status/673231777461379073 Matsuta, 32, hit .290 with 35 HRs for NBP champions. Several big league clubs are interested. https://twitter.com/jcrasnick/status/673232217150214144 http://www.baseball-reference.com/register...id=matsud001nob
  24. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 5, 2015 -> 12:19 PM) So does this mean we get the Giants pick at 19, or could it change with other free agents? #WhiteSox should now have second pick within the top 30. Also have 10th pick of second round. https://t.co/8js1RNMahi https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/673203417230221312
  25. He's was a 74th best prospect in all of baseball in 2013
