  1. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 19, 2016 -> 11:35 AM) Can we take one glimmer of hope? He seemed to follow instructions to pull the ball for 2 weeks and hit 4-5 home runs. He just doesn't seem like a coachable player. Well if hes not a coachable player along with the fact the Sox can't seem to teach well on the offense side for young players its probably a lost cause lol
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 19, 2016 -> 11:24 AM) I agree. Open his stance and try to hit everything on the plate and in into the LF seats. Isn't one of his biggest issues is he hasn't learned to pull the ball much.
  3. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Feb 17, 2016 -> 08:14 PM) So if the Sox sign Fowler they give up their 2nd round pick? Personally that's a no brainer to me. The pick doesn't matter. He's a big big enough upgrade overall where I see no problems paying him 2/25 or hell, even 3/32. Unlike Jackson, Fowler is a "young" 29 and doesn't rely as much on his athleticism to produce. I'd 100% be on board with Fowler even with a slight over pay. Sox would forfeit their comp pick for shark. Would keep first pick and second round. Sox comp pick is like 27 ish
  4. Kinda was hoping the Sox would bring him back for last go at it. Hopefully if he retires the Sox bring him back for a one day contract so he can retires with them.
  5. Abreu, Eaton, Rodon, Petricka, Putnam, Avila, Brantly among early arrivals at #WhiteSox camp. Pitchers/catchers report Friday. https://twitter.com/CST_soxvan/status/699684273436127236
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 16, 2016 -> 12:41 PM) Da f***? "One of these pitchers got $90 million guaranteed. One of these pitchers got $3 million guaranteed. Why on Earth would a national publication writing the supposed conventional wisdom think that swap is a downgrade???" GMAB. Yes, Latos could darn well be an upgrade over Samardzija, but the league just made an $87 million bet that he won't be. These predictions are based on that kind of conventional wisdom. Isn't Rodon technically replace shark and Latos replacing noesi from last opening day.
  7. Just throwing it out there for the sox to say put up 90 wins then just averaging it out over 6 months would be 15 wins a month. If they have a losing month then they would have to a better winning total in another month. Basically first month should be a tell if they are going to do something since they kinda fall flat in April for the past couple years. If they are .500 or better then might be a good chance.
  8. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Feb 15, 2016 -> 12:12 PM) To be honest, I'm not much of a believer in luck. Certain players just need to perform up to their career averages which, to me, is more about focus/repetition/desire/outlook/working hard and things of that nature. You may not be much of a believer in luck but you know it pops up in games at times. Players can perform well but if things don't bounce your way it can hurt you. White sox in 05 had some luck or calling it ball bouncing your way. Called 3rd strike in the dirt in game 2 of the alcs on AJ and getting first base, ball hitting the bat for dye in game 2 of the world series to load the bases, biggio dropping a pop up that helped the inning continue for the sox on the world series. Players can do alot but any player will tell you that luck comes into play at times.
  9. I'm not sure what Nightingales angle is with the sox this offseason but it's been kinda downing rumors about the sox
  10. Wasn't Heyman the one reporting it and hayes building off of it. Nightingale just seems to come out kill the buzz.

  12. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 11, 2016 -> 05:59 PM) If we do in fact add Desmond, we still need to add another OF to at least challenge Avi. I think they sign Desmond then trade for outfielder
  13. Chisox being smart, opportunistic to look at desmond. As @CSNHayes points out, he averaged 3.8 war last 4 yrs, best for a SS https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/697931895577952256
  14. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Feb 11, 2016 -> 03:04 PM) Boras getting desperate, better float some more rumors for his clients. Every single time Heyman posts something like this it's 100% Boras trying to stir up interest in his client. It might be true, but take it with a huge grain of salt. Boras isn't Desmond agent
  15. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 9, 2016 -> 05:35 PM) Probably like one in a trillion. So you're saying there's a chance
  16. Latos gets 100K for MVP, Cy Young and WS MVP. All 3 and he gets 300K incentives and is officially the biggest bargain in MLB https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/697194134205935617
  17. Just to point out roster is now full.
  18. #WhiteSox 40-man roster at 40. https://twitter.com/CST_soxvan/status/697168079839719424
  19. #Rays are still bargain shopping. But barring a change of heart, Ian Desmond is a long shot. They don't want to give up draft pick. https://twitter.com/jcrasnick/status/697093915141414913
  20. On SportsNet Central at 10pm: @ChuckGarfien's 1-on-1 interview with @whitesox Rick Hahn! #WhiteSoxTalk https://t.co/FRLX5hm7yl https://twitter.com/CSNChicago/status/696528963720458242
  21. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Feb 7, 2016 -> 01:28 PM) Today's Tampa Tribune indicates Rays may also be involved since he is a Sarasota native and his price has dropped. One of the things that's been linked with rays and Desmond has been question of giving up the pick. Rays are kinda hesitant about giving up the pick so it's the question of the value worth of giving the pick. I'm guessing the amount they would have to give him along with the pick is going to decide if they are in.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 7, 2016 -> 10:59 AM) It is obvious to me that the team is up against the wall in terms of budget, which is what is holding them up. But then they dont have the prospects or least some they aren't willing to deal to get the impact players they need. What would solve all this is actually being able to develop their own position players.
  23. QUOTE (staxx @ Feb 6, 2016 -> 11:02 PM) Frustrating? Because we didnt acquire someone that no one ever thought we would? We acquired an All-star 3B and filled our 2B gap, i'd call that a productive offseason. Yes it's been productive but when the gm says the Sox wanted to also get better in the outfield and hasn't done it yet and alot of options getting taken off the table and you're less then 2 weeks till pitchers and catcher's report it gets frustrating at that part. Sox still could use better offense from ss, dh and RF. That's a 3rd of your lineup.
  24. Sox will probably trade for de Aza now that the mets really don't have a need for him lol
  25. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 6, 2016 -> 11:21 PM) I didn't expect them to be in the OF market at all really. I thought they'd go after Frazier and make smaller moves. Hahn even said either at the meetings or after Frazier that they wanted to get a better outfielder with better defense and more offense.
