  1. It's all good. Sox will miss out cause they didn't want to offer more then 3 yrs. They will turn around and trade Quintana, fulmer and Anderson for cargo lol
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 7, 2016 -> 03:28 PM) https://twitter.com/BNightengale/status/685210889520283653 I guess no big free agents. Kinda funny how many national baseball writers said the Sox should be getting one of Gordon or Cespedes.
  3. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/01/whit...rs-waivers.html Not sure he lasts to long
  4. That's it guys. We can close the Cespedes thread. Hahn has finished his work for the outfield lol
  5. Just throwing out there for people on the skepticism of Cespedes 2015. Konerko hit 32 homeruns in 2001 which was a career high for him. He then went on to hit 41 in 04 and 40 in 05. Don't know why people can't take a career year in homeruns and said that that can't be a measuring stick for further years in continuing or bettering homerun out put
  6. QUOTE (JRL @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 07:42 PM) Yeah, um the diff for an average player going from the cell to his former home parks are not as drastic as everyone makes it sound. That guy who gains 10+ HR a year by playing half his games at the Cell, that everyone thinks each player we bring in will become doesnt seem to have materialized yet (Dunn, Laroche etc..) Again, also excluding last year which was a clear outlier, Cespedes' offensive numbers including HR are actually slightly better at home than on road. Hard to blame his home ball parks given that info So what makes you think he can't sustain those numbers in the cell
  7. QUOTE (JRL @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 07:22 PM) Whats with this idea on this board that Cespedes is somehow the player he was in 2015, and somehow better than Upton, when 2015 was clearly an outlier for Cespedes?? Hasn't anyone ever heard of the refrain "don't pay for a career year"?!?!? In 2013 and 2014 respectively Cespedes had OPS of 737 and 751. That's really pedestrian. Also, Cespedes is somehow all of a sudden "an extra 30 HRs, at least" for the Sox?!?!? Just look at the numbers... 23, 26, 22, 35. Is it really terribly difficult to see where the outlier is??? Because he's played alot his home games in parks that aren't power friendly. Since Sox play in a more power-friendly he should be able to hit more homeruns or maintain a higher amount
  8. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 05:01 PM) I really hope the Sox can sign Cespedes or Upton or some of the comments made on this board are going to be unbearable. Ya I could see the Sox not getting anyone and Hahn going well just didnt find anyone to fit in so looks like the is it for the rest of the offseason.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 04:59 PM) I still think at this point I'd take power over OBP. I would have preferred Gordon, but I could not stand how it took 4 singles to get a run last year. If Cespedes is added that's 3 guys in sox lineup with 30 homerun potential and possibly 100 rbis each
  10. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 03:22 PM) Fantastic to see this: https://twitter.com/Buster_ESPN/status/684847253022982144 I guess ozuna trade talks are heating up and Span might be signing soon. I guess we should know hopefully by the end of week if the Sox do something.
  11. #Orioles also like Upton, but it’s unclear whether they truly want him or Cespedes. Might simply be seeking leverage with Chris Davis. https://twitter.com/Ken_Rosenthal/status/684846542595997696
  12. O's have also been in talks with reps for Yoenis Cespedes, who is looking for a landing spot, as well as Upton. Have money to spend. https://twitter.com/Buster_ESPN/status/684846216165888000
  13. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 09:50 AM) @Ken_Rosenthal Sources: #WhiteSox would not go 4 years on Gordon, as @BNightengale said. Will they adjust on Cespedes? Gordon 32 this season, Cespedes 30. I really think this was the sticking point for sox on gordon. Not wanting to go more then 3 years on him. Again he's going to be 32. For Cespedes I don't believe that is the only amount of years they will go on him. He's younger. Remember that before the whole 3 year thing it was 4 or maybe 5 year deal which would represent better for Cespedes.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 6, 2016 -> 09:08 AM) Always felt Fowler to Giants makes a lot of sense also. The mlb network hot stove guys thought this too. With pagan a free agent next they could play fowler in left and then slide him over to cf next year
  15. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jan 5, 2016 -> 09:30 PM) He was also the only one outside of raBBit connection the Sox & Royals long before the national guys picked it up. I think he gets info but he's also a giant homer & let's that get in the way of the reality of Gordon's situation. Ya the guy has been pretty sure that gordon is staying in kc. Don't know if he knows something or just hoping lol
  16. Last heard, orioles were holding at 154/7 for Davis, but angelos wasn't OKing full-bore pursuit of gordon/cespedes/upton yet https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/684566187221487616 Orioles still stuck on davis. Sox better strike soon
  17. Royals still would love to sign Alex Gordon after bleak start to talks. Also on OF radar: parra, span, fowler, Murphy, etc. https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/684565238386167809 Looks like royals having trouble with gordon talks
  18. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 5, 2016 -> 04:46 PM) We've literally heard no news on any of the outfielders lately. I don't know how much longer this board (and I) can handle it! Probably won't sign until right before spring training lol. Keep the suspense up
  19. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jan 5, 2016 -> 04:08 PM) Just read a blurb from Jim Bowden saying that both Upton & Cespedes market has picked up a bit since the beginning of the year in terms of interest. For the Sox, that's not particularly good news but could mean nothing, too. Are you talking about this one http://insider.espn.go.com/blog/the-gms-of...r/post?id=12005 Cause this is kinda old
  20. Cespedes 2015 .224/.290/.480, 5 HR @ Citi Field (27 G) .273/.307/.434, 5 HR @ Comerica (52 G) .320/.353/.623, 25 HR everywhere else (80 G) https://twitter.com/ckamka/status/682283542110429184 Really shows the home parks for him weren't good power wise
  21. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jan 5, 2016 -> 12:45 PM) That's why I don't think the Giants are the biggest threat to sign him, he's a much bigger risk in that park. I really don't see the Giants being big threats. The Orioles if they loose out on davis have supposedly are more interested in upton. Tho the Orioles owner like davis so much he's willing to give him every opportunity to come back. That supposed offer they withdrew is still kinda there. Angels don't want to hit the luxury tax and they are so right handed that might take them away from Cespedes. Only real team I see could be threats on Cespedes is tigers.
  22. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 5, 2016 -> 12:37 PM) Could be good news for Sox fans. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2604907...-with-right-fit "Apart from a two-month stint in Boston at the end of 2014, Cespedes has spent his career playing home games in parks that aren't known to be power-friendly. First there was O.co Coliseum, and then came Comerica Park and Citi Field. Per ESPN.com's park factors, all three tend to rate as either neutral or unfriendly parks for power hitters. Giving Cespedes a more power-friendly home ballpark to play in, therefore, could go a long way toward making sure his 2015 power breakout has some staying power. And this, naturally, is where it becomes easy to draw a line in the sand between his suitors. On one side, you have the Angels and Giants. Because it would mainly involve gambling on Cespedes' power, both clubs should be wary of signing him—even if it were at a discounted rate. Angel Stadium of Anaheim and AT&T Park are noted death traps for power hitters. As such, neither club would be putting Cespedes in a good position to continue his power-based breakout." This is why I like Cespedes more cause he hasn't fully been in a homerun park. Playing at the Cell could easily see him maintain 30+ homers. Maybe even more.
  23. It's all good. Ken Rosenthal is back so market should start moving again lol
  24. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Jan 4, 2016 -> 06:45 PM) @NickyMitch93 I was told #WhiteSox are one of the teams with an offer out to Fister... No word on the favorite mulling over offers from many teams 1 yr deal wouldn't be bad. Help him rebuild his value
