  1. QUOTE (Dunt @ Feb 6, 2016 -> 11:28 AM) It would be a downright incredible move to swing a trade for Jennings and Odorizzi, I wish the Sox had the firepower to get it done See this is the issue with the Sox is they don't have alot of money to spend but don't have the depth on the minors to get more pieces they need unless they just empty it out and have nothing left. Jennings to me is a guy that hasn't lived up to potential and has injury issues. Don't know how much hope we all have that Sox can actually turning him around when we have a guy already that isn't fully injured all the time but can't fix him. It's really a stuck between a rock and a hard place for the sox right now.
  2. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Feb 5, 2016 -> 09:37 PM) Make sense. They need rotation depth. This is the 2nd year of Williams' artificial/phony 3 year (now 2 year) "go for it" window, where the young players are dispatched for proven and declining veterans....and the team still has numerous holes. And it still remains to be seen if the Sox are a team, despite a few of the holes plugged. I'm not sure if the 3 year window is phony. Sadly if the Sox aren't in the playoffs here on out it might be firesale/ rebuild time for the sox. Sox most likely can't afford sale after this contract comes up and probably not Abreu tho he will be older then. That leaves 2 years of control for the two after the window and should be still get alot of talent in return if it ends up being the case. Sox are having to go all in but at what cost
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 5, 2016 -> 07:47 PM) It seems one of Parra's main motivations for going to Colorado was to play with CarGo. Might have been like Upton there was no mutual interest? The weird part is the Rockies seemingly lowered Dickerson's value by forcing a move with him or Blackmon. Why they would want to get more expensive with at best an incremental upgrade seems bizarre for a rebuilding team. And it's not like Parra has been playing great defense recently...if that was the primary consideration over Dickerson it would make SOME sense at least. For the Dickerson trade the supposed got the young pitcher which the seemed high in and Mcgee which can still trade and probably get a nice piece or 2 back for since alot of teams were interested. Also looking at his splits in home vs away wasn't very good so might killed his value

  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 5, 2016 -> 10:42 AM) Austin Jackson makes way more sense for the Cubs. Better defense and can still get the comp pick when Fowler goes elsewhere (while being way cheaper) Cubs would still lose the comp pick cause they signed 2 guys with qualifying offers. They would lose the first round and comp pick
  6. #Dodgers GM Farhan Zaidi to Chris Russo on possibility of an Andre Ethier trade: “Right now, we have nothing going on.” @MLBNetwork https://twitter.com/jonmorosi/status/695315394316337152
  7. Teams that inquire about Yaisel Puig_and not Ethier_are being told by the #Dodgers that he is not available, at least not now. https://twitter.com/BNightengale/status/695286796532342786
  8. The #Whitesox still would like offensive upgrade, and the #Dodgers would love to move Andre Ethier, but no signs of potential match. https://twitter.com/BNightengale/status/695260444064284674
  9. Jon morosi on mlb network said he doesn't see the Sox getting ethier. Said he was the Dodgers best hitter after all star break and they may want to see him going forward. Tho that seems to be his opinion. Also said sox are more heavily involved in the free agent market with fowler and Desmond.

  12. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Feb 3, 2016 -> 06:04 PM) You guys know that we play non-AL Central teams, too, right? We do? I thought we only played the central
  13. QUOTE (daggins @ Feb 3, 2016 -> 04:36 PM) Yeah the best LHSP in the ALC (besides the Sox crew) is Danny Duffy. Ethier will get plenty of use. OK maybe 5. Duffy, house, milone, Norris and vargas. But not sure if they are fully starters
  14. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 3, 2016 -> 03:43 PM) If that RF is Ethier, then someone needs to face LHP for him as well. That's my point. You realize that there aren't a huge amount of LHP starters in the central and really not alot in al. There might be only 4 in central but most of them might not be fully starters. Hence the reason if true Sox are looking at LH bat.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 3, 2016 -> 11:40 AM) For a guy who now supposedly doesn't provide enough from the left side, Fowler has a career .351 OBP left handed and a .761 OPS. And he can play against LHP. Fowler is the better option. I think they are using the press to try to get Fowler to sign. Yes that's good for fowler but looking at career stats there's a nice difference vs RH pitching for the 2. Fowler .252, .351, .410, .761 Ethier .308, .383, .507, .889
  16. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 3, 2016 -> 11:32 AM) Assuming Ethier is acquired and Avi stays, what would the outfield situation look like on Opening Day? Eaton, Ethier, Melky, Garcia, Shuck, and Sands would all be in the mix for a spot. They would never have all 6 of them on the roster at the same time. It'll only be 4 of them most likely and I don't know who would be left out. Sands and Shuck probably, but I don't know. What a fustercluck. Right now Shuck has to stay as 4th outfielder since he can back up cf. Ideally if the Sox were to aquire Ethier the best back up and platoon with him would have been Trayce but he's gone. Avi probably gets sent down if someone else gets acquired for outfield unless a miracle happens were they move Laroche and Avi maybe dhs
  17. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 3, 2016 -> 11:22 AM) Nobody has answered my question. Lets just pretend that we added Ethier to the team for a minor leaguer. vs RHP 1. Eaton CF 2. Ethier RF 3. Abreu 1B 4. Frazier 3B 5. Cabrera LF 6. Lawrie 2B 7. LaRoche DH 8. Avila C 9. Saladino SS vs LHP 1. Eaton CF 2. Cabrera DH 3. Abreu 1B 4. Frazier 3B 5. Lawrie 2B 6. Garcia RF 7. Navarro C 8. Sands LF 9. Saladino SS This team would have a bench of Sands, Catcher Spot, Sanchez, and Garcia. It doesn't work. One of Garcia or LaRoche has to magically go somewhere if they add Ethier and they'd need a RHH OF. Probably need to replace sands with Shuck. Shuck can backup cf. Garcia would either be traded or most likely optioned since he has one option left. Might be more of leury Garcia since he can play some outfield along with infield but that kinda makes weak bench
  18. You know Ethier might be a platoon player but for starting pitchers in the central most right handed he might be a better choice. Last year fowler didn't hit well vs RH pitching
  19. QUOTE (Finkelstein @ Feb 2, 2016 -> 10:03 AM) LaRoche and Putnam for Ethier and 2.5M (covers the 2018 buyout). Why does everyone keep trying to give them Laroche. They absolutely have no need or room for him. You might have been more likely with Danks before the Dodgers went on a bringing in a ton of pitching but probably not now. Most likely you are probably taking about a bullpen arm at this point for Ethier.
  20. With Jean Segura in, Dbacks also have Nick Ahmed and Chris Owings at SS and are in need of relief, which is area of depth for #WhiteSox. https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/693599566596325376

Rick Hahn: "We're going to have to tighten up a few areas" in reference to defense, base running. #WhiteSox https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/693466752202772480 Hahn: "If this is the 25 we go with, the ingredients are there."
