Pubs sports bars different types of restaurants. Would like to be in a "walking" neighborhood.

Sox open in Milwaukee March 26. Three game series. Curious if there are any groups going. Was thinking of attending the series, been to Miller park twice before- any recommendations on what area to stay in? I think the ballpark is off the express way so probably should stay in an area that is close by and has bars, restaurants etc. but not too far from Miller Park

The Future of the White Sox TV Broadcast Team

Seems like they are avoiding pairing Schriffen and Stone together The pairing -its done after this season in my opinion hopefully Plesac or AJ although AJ doesn’t have a chance under current ownership -
Yes that makes sense.

No Luis Aparicio which I understand he's pushing 90. But surprised at no Frank - he was signing liquor bottles over the weekend in the Chicago area. No Goose. Was at the induction last weekend and we ate at the Italian restaurant on Main Street in Cooperstown. Sitting near us was JR, Dennis Eckersly, Arte Moreno (Angels owner), and Tony Larussa. Just exchanged nods - didn't want to bother anyone's dinner. Who would have put Eck and Moreno with JR & TLR for dinner?

Interesting. It sounds like the pairing is the issue and maybe Stone will hang it up. He's a sharp analyst but on the negative side of the ledger the first things people say about Stone is "arrogant" or "condescending" I'm sure he difficult to work with. I agree JS has only made a small improvement from last year. His fan approval has to be really low but the Sox mgmt has shown that isn't an important factor. -
Total speculation but saw on Twitter / X that Nick Mirabito an OF with Mets was also pulled from game so speculation is this could be related to Robert

It will be interesting to see what shakes out for next year. Stone is missing about half the games - I wonder how much this is planned and how much has materialized with the multiple 100 loss seasons as well as his pairing with John Schiffren. Stone is 78 but still a master of pitch selection and game strategy - how long will he want to do it? The rumblings I hear is that although Schiffren appears differential to Stone on the air they have had some significant off the air "blowups". Sounds like Stone is frustrated with some of Schiffren's lack of ability to adjust and adapt. John seems to be a nice guy but he is not a baseball PBP announcer for a MLB franchise. Examples are his constant comment about the Vargas change in batting stance even though that performance "bump" faded away weeks ago. His forced "big play" calls are still cringey (La Panterra!!!) I don't wish him any ill will but it sounds like this will be the last year for Schiffren. Whats the options out there? Anyone new? Move Len Kaspar to TV ? (although he says he prefers radio). More Dan Plesac? More Gordon Beckham? I think Plesac could be an option if he was paired with a stronger PBP man. Where do we go from here?

Episode 4 is the best. Lots of very emotional moments & new insights. I see why they waited to release this episode until after the reunion weekend as it included sme of the festivities including the emotional toast to Bobby Jenks. I can't believe it only has 11K views on Youtube If you are over 25 and a White Sox fan its must see TV?!!

Cool. Going to see the HOF induction next weekend, hopefully there will a bunch of White Sox Allen jerseys in Cooperstown, although I expect it will be more Phillies of course.

Love that idea. It would also be a nice gesture to memorialize Bobby too.

I was at this game in our seats in Section 127. About mid-way thru the game the guy and three young ladies sat in the open row in front of us. They were early 20's. The guy kept shouting heckles and insults and they weren't funny or appropriate. He used the f Bombs a few times and the Sox security guard that stands in front of the visitors dugout reprimanded him (very appropriately) for using inappropriate language. The guy stopped swearing but continued with adolescent type heckles about one players sister and then made the comment about texting Martes mother. It seem liked high school stuff ("your mother", "your sister" etc.) Lovullo was really upset pointed at the guy; he was livid. A few minutes later The security guard and a few other Sox security guys came down and escorted him out. We were kind of surprised because I have heard much worse heckling than that . But we were not aware of the "back story" about Martes mother until the next day in the media. I was really surprised. It was definitely wrong what he said but I wonder if the heckler really knew the situation about Martes mother. The heckler would have been 14 when she died (he is 22 now per the media) and would have to follow baseball pretty closely to know about the car accident. Definitely doesn't make it right but I'm just telling you the perspective of someone who was right there. Its sad that the WHite Sox organization and fans take another hit for a fan who cant control himself, its not representative of the wider fanbase but adds more fuel to the fire.

Chet really was a dynamic player to watch. Its hard to define "underrated" but Chet's career with the Sox and Tigers was incredible and I never thought he received the attention / recognition he deserved. RIP Mr Lemon.

Well Burger was released by the Rangers. I’d rather him than Vaughn but not Elko - he should get a shot first id take Jake back for depth if nothing else

Since attendance is based on tickets sold (not attendance) I wonder what the season ticket base is? In the past years the bottom attendance (for a non -rescheduled game) was about 13-14K. I bet the number is about 9K-10K now. Even if the Sox play better I don't see a lot of additional sales when you almost always can get a better deal on the secondary market (SeatGeak, StubHub, etc.). I do think the promo schedule this year is one of the best they have had.

Bobby Jenks dealing with stage 4 stomach cancer
palehose1 replied to DoUEvenShift's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Awful news, Bobby is such a genuine guy. My brother and I took our sons to Spring Training in 2006 in Tucson and we saw Bobby walking out along the first base fence. The kids yelled their "hellos" and he walked over to the fence and talked with the boys for 5 or 10 minutes. He didn't have to do that. Get well Bobby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -

I know Im delusional but Terry Francona would be a great choice. He's had health issues and probably doesn't want the grind anymore. His Indians / Guardians team always played good fundamental baseball.

When it was season ticket renewal time in the fall last year the communication was "we are not going through another rebuild". I was one of the suckers who renewed.

Alas, my past experience in business certainly aligns with that generalization....

Where there's smoke there is fire. Boyer is a controversial person within the White Sox organization, he has a reputation for arrogance. Hawk, the ultimate White Sox homer, called him out in his interview with AJP saying that Boyer was ruining the organization and feeding JR his perspectives. Benetti was certainly pushing for more schedule flexibility and more $ but the out of touch White Sox management don't understand how popular Jason was to the fans. He's not for everybody, but his PBP skills and knowledge are among the best out there. It should not have gotten to this point, it certainly re-enforces the image is that the Sox are not a desirable organization to work for whether its a player, coach, announcer, etc.

The prior year was a double digit increase around 10% so in a way 3% was lower than I expected. But at this point the price increase is irrelevant. Maybe they could have bought some credibility / goodwill if they said they were freezing all ticket, concession and parking costs for 2024 but that would never happen with JR

Sox issued 2024 Season Ticket Plan Invoices, both of our plans showed a 3% increase so it looks like Sox did a across the board flat increase of 3% I have been a full season Ticket holder since 1991. We are cancelling one of the plans- we can't justify paying big $ for this product. If we want to go to a game tickets are usually 50% of face in the secondary market EVEN WITH FEES. STH Renewals will be very low based on my sample sample size discussions with other STHs, most are canceling their plans. The way the Getz / Pedro thing was handled as an ultimate FU
