2017 Music thread
QUOTE (bjm676 @ Jul 27, 2017 -> 04:47 PM) Saw McCartney last night in Tinley Park. Probably the best concert I've ever been to. Lots of Beatles and Wings songs. Played 39 songs in about 3 hours. Not bad for a 75 year old. Holy hell that is impressive. That's why he is Sir Paul McCartney.

Who Should Be In The Lineup Next Year?
QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 07:16 PM) If my aunt had a d*** she would be my uncle Haven't heard that one in a while! Although I used to say ' if my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle'.

Waiver Wire Deals
Wouldn't be surprised if teams were posting players after midnight. I would imagine Shields is already on waivers.

Winners Thread: Comeback Victory over Jays
Wins don't come around often so I'll take a W anytime. Especially battling back from 6-0. That was some fun baseball to watch.

7/31 Games
QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 09:37 PM) Give him the starts, shut him down, start him next year at Charlotte with eyes on a August 1st callup if he's doing well at AAA. Works for me. Who do you think goes to WS if/when Jimenez goes to Birmingham? I'm leaning towards Adolfo.

Glad it's only a bruise. Hopefully Willy's evaluation tomorrow goes well.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 09:10 PM) Gonna be interesting to watch them in the playoffs. Unfortunately, W-S is looking less and less likely to clinch a second half berth. Yeah, Kanny will probably have to thump their way through the playoffs. Man, could they use Hansen and Dunning back in their rotation. WS has not had much help from the offense, that's for sure. Seby has been a breath of fresh air for them but I was hoping for more from Collins and Basabe. Kanny has the hitters and WS has the pitchers.

QUOTE (Sox Fan In Husker Land @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 08:59 PM) Michael Kopech's last 4 starts including tonight: 27 IP 33 K (11.00 K/9) 15 H 4 BB (1.33 BB/9) 0.70 WHIP 1.33 ERA That'll do. He's also at 105 1/3 IP. Previous season high was 65 IP. Glad you pointed this out. Curious to see what the Sox do with him. Maybe two or three more starts to reach roughly 120 and shut him down? Normally I would say let pitch regardless but with the Sox rebuilding and Kopech being so young, there's no point in pushing him.

7/31 Games
Wow. Kopech had himself another solid outing and was out duelled. Won't see that happen too often. Should the Sox just go ahead and promote all the Kanny hitters? Good grief, that offense.

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 06:18 PM) Scouts are waiting to see what Hansen can do against better competition in the higher minors. Dominating a ball is not that impressive for a college prospect from a major program. I'll buy in more fully once he's doing this to AA hitters. I think most of us buy into Hansen because he's throwing strikes. I've gotten into the habit of checking the pitchers strike and pitch totals. Whatever mechanical changes were made in Hansen's delivery, he is throwing more strikes because of it.

Anyone see Dunning pitch? Just curious what he's doing to get these strike out's.

Source: Darvish Traded right at deadline to Dodgers
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 05:19 PM) The Dodgers are really close to sneaking beneath the luxury tax line and getting themselves out of the multi-year penalties next year also. They could throw that away & not care, but that has cost them an awful lot of money. Yeah, I forgot about all the starting pitchers they have under contract. Pretty much all of their starters are signed through at least the '18 season so Darvish might not be realistic if they want under that payroll. Unless they can find takers in the off season for one or more of their many DL swingers (McCarthy/Hill/Kazmir).

Source: Darvish Traded right at deadline to Dodgers
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 04:14 PM) I understand that this may put LA over the top, but in terms of the trade itself, I just feel as though the baseball world is generally overvaluing 3 months of Darvish and underrating Calhoun as a prospect. I think one aspect from LA's perspective is they could've looking at this as first dibs on re-signing Dervish in the off-season. I think once the season ends there's an exclusive 15 day window the team has to talk to the impending FA . Calhoun is definitely underrated and I think it's from his poor defense and small size. Personally, I think Calhoun's power is legit and will show in the big leagues. But for most, they probably won't be sold until the MLB eye test has been performed. Don't know about his defense but as long as his power was legit, I'd have no problem with making Willy the shortest DH in the league if he were on the Sox.

Covey to DL, Minaya recalled
Yeah. I mean, earlier in the season Covey was a key contributor to a potential high draft pick next year. It is essential they bring his ass back immediately. WTF Covey? Don't you know the tank is on?

QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 04:37 PM) Very much +1 to this.Hansen is legit and I think him and Kopech have all the talent needed to anchor our rotation for a long time with a very good Lopez behind them. I second that on Hansen. The Hansen were seeing now is the highly touted version before the 2016 college season began. There was hype about him being a potential 1-1 pick.

7/30 Games
QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 02:32 PM) Not talking smack, just curious how someone values Dunning over Lopez. Lopez has been fantastic at Charlotte, which is the best hitters park in the league. He also has plus stuff and is only 23 years old. I feel like he's constantly overlooked in the system, even being a top 50 prospect. He's all of 9 months older than Hansen and 11 months older than Dunning. I think he will be a hell of a #2 to Kopech for years to come with the Sox. I would say... 1. Kopech(easy) 2. Lopez 3. Hansen (slight) 4. Giolito (debatable, I'm in the Coop will fix em camp) 5. Cease 6. Dunning 7. Guerrero 8. Adams ... 37. Ballpark Vendor 55. Pat Daneker 79. Carson Fulmer In all seriousness, it's an abundance of riches. Even Guerrero at #7 has a good shot as a #3/#4 rotation lefty. Great post but you're looking too far into mine. I wasn't speaking in terms of value, just giddiness from a fans perspective about Kopech/Hansen/Dunning.
