Sox willing to deal Beckham in "right deal now"
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 26, 2014 -> 03:50 PM) Semien needs to be the starting 2B come August 1st. I can't deal with Beckham any longer than that I'm not so sure it would be Semien seeing as how Micah has been the one playing 2B, brings a left handed bat, top of the order speed and has been the better hitter at Charlotte. Just a guess on my part is all. I'm not trying to jump into the Beckham free for all but I'm with you, time to move on and see what one of the three MI spects at Charlotte can do. 2014 has been about discovering what the Sox do and not have so let's continue that by getting one of the three up with the Sox.

Peavy to San Fran
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2014 -> 03:20 PM) I read in at least one article that SF was particularly interested in the fact that he wasn't a salary commitment for next season. I think we've been reading the same articles Balta. IMO, a 29 year old lefty with a 4.40 ERA that has yet to be traded could say something about how teams feel about having Danks through 2016 should they trade for him. Speculation on my part and hopefully I'm reading too much into it.

Don't go leaving us Jerry. Im not ready for my favorite baseball team to be re-named the Titicaca White Sox. Seriously, glad Jerry is OK. Get well soon!

Peavy to San Fran
I wouldn't be too quick in thinking Danks could bring the same or better in return. Danks contract and 30M+ owed through 2016 could viewed as an albatross if GM's are uncertain about Danks ability to sustain or improve upon this seasons numbers. If it were me, I honestly would not give up the same package for Danks. Danks 2015-16 is a gamble at this point. I hope I'm wrong.

7/25 Games
QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 25, 2014 -> 06:20 PM) Dunn needs to go so Wilkins can come up and Ravelo can go to AAA This is what I'm hoping for. I know Ravelo isn't hitting many HR's but he's still hitting very well and IMO deserves a call up to Charlotte.

Rangel Ravelo
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2014 -> 05:23 PM) .885 OPS at home, .855 OPS on the road. 4 HR at home, 3 on the road, 11 2b at home, 19 on the road. Sounds like he's a line drive gap hitter. It will be interesting to see how his HR power developes. Regardless, it will be fun following him.

Phillies willing to send most of $70 million contract to deal How
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 25, 2014 -> 10:51 AM) If you got them for an effective cost of say $5 million annually, would you rather have Howard or Dunn going forward. Oh great, a choice between two fat chicks that are capable of putting OCB out of business in one sitting. I will consult my crystal beer ball tonight to decide which gets rolled in the flour.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 25, 2014 -> 10:33 AM) The first person to use the term "White Flag" gets banned. Thank you! That phrase has been whored so often it should be renamed Paris Hilton.

Phillies willing to send most of $70 million contract to deal How
Good luck Philly. If Dunn is a difficult move with approximately 7M left on his contract, Howard will be pretty much impossible with 70M+ left on his.

Rangel Ravelo
Would love to see Ravelo get promoted to AAA when there's room for him to play every day. Trying to understand if Birmingham is a pitchers or hitters park. Its only 325 down the lines but there is a 15 ft wall from the lines that gradually goes down to 8 ft in cf. Trying to understand if the maybe the wall contributes to a lower HR total but at the same time boost the 2B total. Anyone know anything about Regions Field?

Yanks on Danks
QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 24, 2014 -> 07:23 PM) Look at the players we are trying to trade and that explains why there are no rumors. I'm not expecting any trades from us this trade deadline. Good point. If the tables were turned and the Sox were looking to acquire players that have been speculated ( Beckham, de aza, Viciedo, Dunn, Ramirez, danks), I would only have interest in Ramirez and possibly Viciedo ( only 25) and that's it.

Anyone know anything about Leonardo De LA Cruz pitching for DSL? I could not find anything as far as scouting goes. Kid walks a lot of batters but his strikeout numbers are impressive. Oh, and he's a lefty!

QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jul 24, 2014 -> 12:40 PM) Sorry, I did not mean to accuse you specifically of being fickle. My point is that while public opinion around Dunn has swirled, he's just being Dunn providing basic production at an over inflated cost. If we can't trade him, I don't see the benefit of humiliating him further by cutting him in his last month of his contract (possible playing career). We reserve the right to honor Konerko's aging career, but want to be vindictive against Adam Dunn? No need to apologize man as I wasn't offended. I have seen some fans sway back and forth on the issue and just wanted to clarify is all. Personally, its not about being vindictive as it is about cutting ties for the last two months. I can see how I would come across as being vindictive given my rationale or lack there of ( lol) in my posts. I'm just ready to move on and give Wilkins a chance to show, if anything, what he can do. Worst case scenario is the Sox still end up with a gaping hole at DH to be filled this winter.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 24, 2014 -> 12:01 PM) I am going to stop you in the first sentence. A general manager should never, and I mean never, worry about if the fans are happy with a player or move. 99.9% of fans have no idea what it takes to run a major league franchise. Even the worst GM is light years better than "the fans". You're about that and I shouldn't have brought that into the discussion. I stand by the rest of my posts but I will leave the fan opinions out of it. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 24, 2014 -> 12:02 PM) Sad, but true. Wait, can I change my opinion instead? Nope, not in america!

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 24, 2014 -> 11:45 AM) St. Roostifer, you have to understand that if SS2K comes to Dick Allen's side in an argument you are just wrong, plain and simple. Hmmm, you make an interesting point. I've changed me mind, I love Adam Dunn.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jul 24, 2014 -> 11:39 AM) Dunn has an .804 ops. Sox fans are so f***ing stupid. I was at the game the other night and people can't stand Dunn. Cheering the fact that they get to see Paulie one last time. I wanted to bang my head off the table. I have to admit, that makes no sense whatsoever.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jul 24, 2014 -> 11:30 AM) Yes. The Sox fanbase will applaud the end of Dunn no matter how it goes down. Like you, I say just pull the plug ASAP if at all possible. If Dunn cannot be traded, I have no problem cutting him and never looking back.

7/23 Games
QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jul 24, 2014 -> 11:15 AM) I think it's funny to watch the sentiment on Dunn swing wildly over the course of his contract when at it's completion he will give the White Sox basically what his career lines have been if you factor in age related regression. It's gone from excitement (finally a left handed middle of the order bat!), to unrequited bitterness and unmerciful booing, to discussing re-signing him, to now wanting to cut him thanks to an organization filler having a hot week. Andy Wilkins completely deserves a September callup when the roster expand, but Dunn's production/value is not tied to Wilkins in any way whatsoever. You make trades/cuts to make room for phenoms, not organization fillers. If you want to see what we got with him, give him some meaningless September at bats and a chance in Spring Training to win a bench spot. Actually I have been consistent with Dunn. Ive been wanting him gone for a long while now due to his regression and contract but understood players like him are difficult to trade. Even last winter and into spring when a few were talking about releasing him before the 2014 season began, my stance was to hold out to see if he could be traded for something, anything. If he cannot be traded then I really see no problem with cutting him loose to give some at bats to a guy nearly ten years younger. This is of course just my opinion though. I must reiterate that I'm not counting on Wilkins to be the future DH of this team, just willing to part ways with Dunn to see what Wilkins can do. If the Sox don't move Viciedo maybe try them as a tandem at DH. Just trying to think outside the box is all and be open to other possibilities.
