Q with good defense behind him is a different pitcher. I think its partially mental, because he doesn't grove that 3-1 fastball to Bautista with last year's defensive group behind him.

He always gets ahead of hitters. That's the Q thing 1) get ahead of hitters 2) dont give up HR 3) high fastball goads them into K's and that's it! That's how Q racks up 7 K's in 4 IP.

I dont feel like this is gonna be an offensive bonanza for the Sox again. Estrade seems pretty on.

I do wonder what it would take to grab Kevin Kiermaier. LHH, god defensively in CF (pushes AJax to left and Melky to DH), he isn't the world's greatest hitter but he's average-to-above-average at the plate with pretty damn good baserunning. Sox would have to wait a couple months for the AL East to shake itself out because as of now the Rays have a chance and wont be sellers quite yet.

Whens the last time MLB players "speculated" about one of their own using, and they were loose lipped enough (or the speculation was pervasive enough) to make it to the media?

There's plenty of basis to suspect Jake Arrieta, now we have concrete people within baseball willing to corroborate what many have suspected for about a year now.

I just think the media's job when accusations of PED use are made against a player by other players is not to ask the accused player for reaction quotes and build a story around how lighthearted and funny they are when acccused of PED use.

This isnt just people, these are other MLB players who are in the same labor union Arrieta is in. You think these guys dont talk? You dont think what happens in the Cubs locker room necessarily stays there? The thing about office gossip is at its core there's almost always a truth, yet here we are with a Cubs-obsessed media willing to walk right past the obvious.

Byung Ho Park is starting to figure it out. I would not be surprised to see the Twins go on an extended run and climb back into the the race (albeit at the back of the pack) by June 1 at the expense of the Indians. 0-9 was pretty disastrous, but since then they've looked like a pretty good team.

Why is it that when Jake Arrieta is accused of PED use by other players the media is more concerned with Arrieta blowing off those allegations than the fact those allegations were made in the first place.
