Latos is going to learn the hard way about allowing too many fly balls on hot days at US Cellular. Not that I'm too worried, his stuff looks good, but today may go down as learning experience.
Danks stuff doesn't really translate to the pen. Doesn't translate to starting very well either I know, but he would be a very bad pitcher to bring in when things go awry.
They're gonna keep Erik Johnson around today in case Latos gets murdered (Texas was scoring like 7 runs a game until they came to Chicago) and call up Gonzalez the instant the game ends. I'd almost guarantee it.
The question I have is whether this is a spot start for Gonzalez to alleviate the wear and tear from 19 straight game, or the first step in the The End of John Danks. Maybe both.
