What's unlikable about them? Heaven forbid they get excited about winning in the playoffs.

Once he broke out of that nasty slump De Aza was a very effective player for the White Sox this season. There just wasn't a place for him anymore.

That was a lot of fun. Go KC.

...and people get sick of Ventura. At least he doesnt pull s*** like that.

Do not like taking the ball out of Shield's hands here.

Sox/Cubs rank in bottom 5 for local TV ratings
BaconOnAStick replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The White Sox would have to black out the games to have lower ratings than the Dodgers. Again, Jerry makes his money off the Sox with low attendance and bad TV numbers... this is not something we need to worry about. In some ways the White Sox have been White-Sox-fan-proofed. -
He'd be a nice platoon partner with Gillaspie, but $5m is a little steep.

Used to be royalboard, but something happened midseason. -
Sale will not be moved to get an extra start

He's not going to win the Cy anyways. -
Batting average does matter. Balls in play can turn in XBH and errors. Walks don't score a runner from 2nd with 2 out. Both have their place, but I'll take the guy batting .300 with a .350 OBP over a .250 hitter with a .375 OBP.

2014-2015 NFL Football thread

Fuller covered Crabtree, took Crab out of the play which forced Kaep to go to his second option 10 yards down the field and he recognized it quick enough to get back there and make the play. To me it was more impressive than the first one, he manipulated a QB's decision making then capitalized on by moving himself to another part of the field. That's veteran lock down corner stuff. He did it in his second game. -

Kyle Fuller made two really great plays for those picks. It wasn't just Kaep throwing it right to him, he earned em. -
AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!! X2

At least one of them will be fun to watch on another team. My guess is Sanchez. On the other hand, who knows? Hahn's mind is a beautiful, flourishing place yet shrouded in myatery. -

Semien has a very real chance of a .275/.350/.450 line from multiple positions. I'm not saying Micah is chopped liver but, at least to me, Semien is a guy who will provide more both at the plate and in the field. -
I don't think the John Danks Problem is for another time. His ineptitude as a starter is very likely the largest barrier for the White Sox to contend next year for the Central. That's the most pressing issue (aside from pen, which I assume will be taken care of) this team has.

I agree. I think Semien is the better player. -
If the Sox plan on rotating players into the DH spot to prevent wear (something I am very in favor of) a platoon of Tank/Gillaspie is fine by me.

-Semien had a fantastic day -Gillaspie broke out of his slump with a big RBI. -Andy Wilkins did something It was a very good day! I don't know if was as good as Abreu's "OUR KIDS WILL NOT QUIT" walk off slam against a s*** talking Balfour... but it was good. -

I'm still uneasy about giving up on Tank. -
They have to adjust it to make it line up with ERA well. They could eliminate the flaw but it'd be more difficult to translate FIP
-
Once you get to a certain level of dominance it breaks Fangraphs formula. They've acknowledged it, happens every so often. Since its almost impossible to hold it up for a number of games they've let it go as a little quirk.
-
Jose Quintana with the elusive negative FIP for this game! -.018! And damn just missed the record. Send him out for the 8th, let him mow em down again.
-
6 straight jesus.
-
It's not just the run support, the defense seems to have a habit of screwing him too. Or the umps. Unless he's in strikeout mode, then it's pretty foolproof.

Just an fyi, there's a decent amount of evidence that the White Sox are the more popular team in the city and Cook Co. Take a look at those fan maps going off Facebook liked and s***. There's of course no doubt Sox Nation is tiny compared to Cubs Nation and that the greater Metro area (a majority of which resides outside Cook County) is Cubs dominated except for Northwest Indiana. So if you have a team that could very well have a superior following to the Chicago freaking Cubs in your immediate environs you don't bolt. You also look at how America is urbanizing and how Bridgeport/Pilsen are increasingly becoming places people want to live... it'd be stupid to leave. The White Sox are already right in the middle of the league in terms of revenue, and they have a lot of growth potential because of their location. I'm guessing a new park in the next 15 years, with talks heating up around the time the US Cellular naming deal runs up. It will still be at 35th and Shields.
