The catching problem was inevitable. Flowers is who he is. Major hole in his swing. With the Sox committed to keeping Nieto on the big-league roster all season because of the Rule 5 situation, I'm not sure what the answer is. No other catcher in the system ready to contribute. Phegley has been blah at AAA. It's a stretch to believe Kevan Smith is ready. What's the solution?

also keep an eye on Jacob May. He struggled early and seemed overmatched. He's quietly moved his average to .216 and has 13 steals. And Wendelken has pitched a nice game -- only three hits in six innings.

Several of the top prospects -- led by Tim Anderson and Frankie Montas -- are playing very well. But as a group, the teams are horrible. They're all sub-500. Charlotte is embarrassingly bad and Birmingham is about 10 games under .500. yes, I realize the purpose of the farm system is to develop several players for the big club. But none of these teams are very good.
