  1. two at bats, two whiffs. Yes, Lester is pitching, but ...
  2. The frustrating thing about Beckham is that he looks like a guy with actual tools -- unlike Chris Getz or Brent Morel or some of the other infield prospects who have moved through the Sox system. But he never learned how to control the strike zone and refused to lay off the high fastball. Maybe it will click for him now.
  3. Took a pitch low and away for called strike three against Lester, leaving runners on first and second in his first at bat Wearing #18. Announcers said maybe he can relax and play with the pressure is off. Pressure has been off since 2011. Just made a nice a play on a line drive at third base. Hawk soiled his shorts in NYC.
  4. wanted Beckham to succeed. thought he would succeed. waited for him to succeed. Never happened. Could never hit the high fastball -- and never learned to lay off it. Didn't matter whether it was Walker, Manto or Steverson, he kept flailing and missing. Wish him the best, except against the White Sox.
  5. Konerko isn't going anywhere, except into the lineup more often over the last month at home. They didn't sign him up for the Farewell Tour to skip the actual Farewell. Hard to imagine any contender that has watched Beckham flail and miss at high fastballs like a Sally League player would expect him to get them over the hump.
  6. Nice to see a guy who understands that in a run-producing position the job is to drive in runs, not try to earn a walk with guys on second and third.
  7. how many more games until Dunn is gone, retires or goes hunting?
  8. Buddy Bell thinks Jared Mitchell is the next Rickey Henderson, Keenyn Walker is Kenny Lofton and Erik Johnson is Mike Mussina.
  9. Ravelo has a single, double and triple in two games tonight. Gives him 46 extra base hits on the season.
  10. Don't forget Adam Engel made his debut at Winston Salem tonight -- 0-3 but had sac fly. wonder what that means for Jacob May?? DNP for May tonight.
  11. Kannapolis three outs from being no-hit by two HIckory pitchers.
  12. Kannapolis three outs from being no-hit by two HIckory pitchers.
  13. Too soon to include Brett Austin or Jake Peter?
  14. Kannapolis (7) and Winston-Salem (6), have one combined hit through 13 innings.
  15. Whenever he returns (soon hopefully), he has a helluva case for a raise.
  16. Whenever he returns (soon hopefully), he has a helluva case for a raise.
  17. He'll be 26 in October. He's taking up space on the 40-man roster. time to buff up his resume and send him on his way.
  18. Any chance it is Chien-Ming Wang? I realize he's a starter, but there had to be a reason they brought him on at Charlotte.
  19. good stuff. thanks for your hard work
  20. Ravelo in second in the Southern League in doubles and 9th in extra base hit. also 7th in rbis, 5th on-base percentage. silly not to put him in top 25.
  21. better score two more. not ovah.
  22. A Thanks for the Memories moment for Paulie. A treat that he played for the Sox for all these years.
  23. two at bats, two swinging Ks for Avi. It's spring training in August.
