  1. Montas two innings, a hit, a walk, a strikeout and an unearned run
  2. Engel is a superb athlete who plays with football intensity. If he can figure out the hitting component, the Sox will have something.
  3. Thanks for sharing and putting all this prospect stuff together. Enjoy it greatly.
  4. As a Baseball America subscriber, I received the copy with the lists of the Top 20 prospects in every minor league. This is the way it shook out for the White Sox. INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE: Micah Johnson 14th. Only Sox player. Nothing for Sanchez. Top 5 -- Polanco, Betts, Lindor, Franco, Souza. SOUTHERN LEAGUE: Micah Johnson 16th. Only Sox player. Top 5 -- Bryant, Russell, Seager, Stephenson, Edwards. CAROLINA LEAGUE: Tim Anderson 8th; Courtney Hawkins 9th; Tyler Danish 12th, Frank Montas 14th. Top 5 -- Gallo, Alfaro, Peraza, Mondesi, Manaea. SALLY LEAGUE: Sox shut out. Top 5 -- Giolito, Crawford, Lopez, Severino, McGuire. PIONEER LEAGUE: Sox shutout. Top 5 -- Aguino, Wall, DeLeon, Blandino, O'Hearn. ARIZONA LEAGUE: Spencer Adams 5th. Top 5 -- Jackson, Holmes, Bradley, Sheffeld and Adams. Carlos Rodon did not make any of the lists because he did not play long enough in any league. He was listed in another story in the front of the magazine of prominent guys who were not on any league lists. Those players included: Mark Appel, Dylan Bundy, Nick Burdi, Byron Buxton, Rusney Castillo, Brandon Finnegan, Kyle Freeland, Marco Gonzales, Nick Howard, Jorge Soler and Kyle Zimmer.
  5. Thanks for doing these lists. interesting reading.
  6. also might have cost him the ERA title.
  7. still a young guy. hope he outgrows it. And that he remembers that you play to win the game -- and hitting VMart did nothing to help that idea Probably a stretch, but you wonder if it will have any effect on VMart's interest in Sox.
  8. This just in from Paul Sullivan at the Trib: (The link: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0930-story.html Sale and Ventura got into it in Ventura's office last Thursday, the day after he drilled VMart in Detroit. Explains why Sale was not at the ballpark that night for KC game, an absence that was explained away by "personal reasons," that night. Ventura is quoted in the story and said that Sale came to him the next day and apologized. No quotes from Sale. Does not explain who started the argument -- A. Robin because Sale did a dumb thing; B. Sale because he wanted Ventura to defend him even more or C. Sale because maybe he was pissed that Avi told VMart what made Sale mad. Hmmmm.
  9. With this loss, Sox record in September under Ventura: 2012 11-17 2013 7-21 2014: 10-13 total: 28- 51 September winning percentage: .354. losing ugly
  10. Maybe we can get Waving Wallace Johnson back to coach 3B
  11. Any chance we can send Buddy Bell back to KC? I liked the Royals a lot more when he was there.
  12. Wheels would have to totally fall off not to finish plus-10 over last season. not what anybody wanted in April, but it's a step in the right direction and you can see more pieces of the puzzle being filled in.
  13. My concerns with Avi: range, especially on balls over his head. And he has a body of a guy who looks as he could have a weight problem. Dude carries a good bit of weight
  14. Trying to think draft pick. Failing. But trying.
  15. Already has -- pitching coach after Coop retires. But just keep it between us.
  16. not ready to dump Avi yet, considering his age and that most of us didn't think he'd be back until February. He needs ABs. He'll probably play winter ball in Venezuela. And this Erik Johnson fella ... is he related to Felipe Paulino?
  17. Bassitt showed the ability to recover from his rough introduction. Might not be ready at the start of next season, but he's got a chance to be a useful piece.
  18. 1. Houston .378 2. Arizona .413 3. Colorado .413 4.Minn .427 5. Houston .441 6. Boston .441 7. Sox .444 Plenty of opportunity to slip under Boston, Houston and Minny.
  19. MLB game day says Yan Gomes tripled on pop up to shortstop Leury Garcia to start the inning? What the heck happened?
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 4, 2014 -> 01:21 AM) I'll never understand the inability of people to distinguish between what people say about Dunn on the field and off of the field. Just because you have respect for Dunn the person and teammate, doesn't mean you have to like how he hit while he was here, and vice versa. Everyone knows he didn't hit while he was here, and literally no one has said different. Anyone who tries to hold that as an argument for being "soft" on the Sox is creating a gigantic strawman that doesn't represent anyone's reality. I'd love to see someone show me even one writers column on how Dunn was productive on the field while he was here. The need to turn Dunn's on the field performance into something personal just boggles my mind. It is almost like people take Dunn's time here personally themselves, so they want to inflict pain on him. It is a game, get over it. People don't earn $56 million to play a game. It's a business. Word is today he's re-thinking retirement. And he'll probably find another sucker GM.
  21. I learn more from Sox Talk than I do from Dan Hayes or Merkin or Colleen Kane or any of them. Their love fest for Adam Dunn last week, because he was such a good guy in the clubhouse, was an embarrassment. He wasn't earning $56 million to drive charitable donations. He was supposed to anchor the lineup of a contending team. Never happened. He failed. Media coverage of the White Sox is incredibly soft. I read one blog by James Fegan and another by a dude named Margalus (not sure on spelling). they're much more insightful than Hayes or any of the people who travel with the team.
  22. Is Michael Taylor really a option for next season?
  23. They're going to invite him to a dunking booth before the game and let The Chairman hit the button enough times until he feels he got his $56 million worth of entertainment.
  24. Why would anybody want Dunn -- other than Kenny Williams?
  25. Would not trade because at least 3 Sox guys have actually proven they can deliver in the major leagues.
