  1. Five years of Gordon seems like a good bet for buyer's remorse by year three. But I do wonder why nobody seems to want to hold on to Cespedes. Four teams in four seasons? What's the catch? Where's the trap door?
  2. Beat the Royals -- and the Wrigleys!
  3. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Dec 11, 2015 -> 11:29 PM) It could be said of a lot of teams probably but yeah the Sox have always seemed to specialize in this. I've been a fan a long time and they've done this since I can remember. A couple more were Rocky Colavito and Ken Boyer. Don't forget Gene Freese or Tommie Davis.
  4. Per dollar and hype, it's Adam Dunn. everybody else playing for second. Rocky Biddle. Billy Koch. Jon Rauch. Matt Ginter Adrian Nieto. Adam LaRoche Todd Ritchie. Jaime Navarro. Dayan Viciedo. Jerry Dybzinski Bee Bee Richard Scott Ruffcorn. Joe Borchard Jordan Danks Josh Paul Consider it a starter set.
  5. many great topics on this board. this is not one of them.
  6. The only possible conversation I've heard about LaRoche was on the MLB Radio Network Monday. There was a trade proposal that had the Giants dealing Brandon Belt somewhere for a pitcher. The caller then said SF could pick up a cheap option like Adam LaRoche for a year to plug the gap at first base until their next prospect was ready. The hosts actually liked the proposal. And my day was made. Make it happen San Francisco.
  7. Keppinger? Terrible deal. LaRoche? Awful deal. Dunn? Four years of acid reflux. Danks? Slight pass for injury. Duke? Not looking promising. Downs? Ooops. What am I forgetting?
  8. LaRoche hit under .200 in four of six months. He drove in 13 runs in May -- and was under 10 every other month. He hit 3 home runs in the second half of the season. His bat speed started slow -- and got slower. Ray Charles wouldn't trade for Adam LaRoche.
  9. QUOTE (dpd9189 @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 01:05 AM) Frazier is the only one of those guys I'd want, Philips and Bruce are garbage. I think there's a trade to be made but the Sox won't get him for B and C level prospects. You're probably looking at a deal that involves Anderson or Fulmer. Most likely Fulmer. Can't trade Fulmer. Not that I believe they would even consider it.
  10. Direction of the team? Who would possibly consider cutting ties with Tyler Flowers as a sign that the White Sox aren't interested in competing in 2016? If they dumped Abreu, Eaton, Robertson or Rodon, yes, there would be a question to ask. But Flowers? Just a guy -- even though he has obviously been a Sale favorite.
  11. Better than owing Zach Duke two more years, I reckon.
  12. If he keeps whining about the non-tendering of The Whiff King catcher, send Sale on his way.
  13. I expect him to bounce back -- if the SEC clears him for one more season at Georgia. Maybe he could play against LSU and Jared Mitchell. S-E-C! S-E-C!
  14. Considering his age (24 next month) and that he played in High A last season, why wouldn't he start in Birmingham?
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 13, 2015 -> 02:40 AM) Solo homer for Engel to lead off tonight's game. http://mlb.mlb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?si...gddwin_srrwin_1 Followed the HR with a walk. Stop the season now. He can't get any better.
  16. national league team because he enjoys hitting. I'll say eight miles north of where he played last season.
  17. considering how little baseball he played before junior college, agree 110 percent.
  18. NC State went to College World Series during his sophomore year. the team did not perform as well during his junior year (2014) so his Won-Loss record was not as good (fell from 10-3 to 6-7) but his ERA as a junior was nearly 1 run per game better (down from 2.99 to 2.01). He did allow more hits per inning and had fewer strikeouts per inning. But I do believe he suffered because NC State has such an inexplicably bad year.
  19. Actually find with Renteria. Bud Black endorses him. And I'm OK with Ventura feeling his shadow or presence or whatever. #23 could use a little motivation to keep his gig.
  20. olt, turner, renteria. Quite a trail of Cubs' cast offs. Who's next -- Corey Patterson?
  21. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Nov 8, 2015 -> 04:50 AM) Did he have 2 walks? How did I completely miss that other PA. But yeah, the kid looked real good. However, I didn't see him have to make a single play in CF, which was weird. Box score lists two walks and two singles. http://mlb.mlb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?gi...ox&sid=l119
  22. 2 hits. 2 walks. 2 runs. 1 stolen base. 1 RBI. solid night by adam engel in all-star game.
  23. Adam Engel, who has been mashing, is batting leadoff for the West. He's over .400 in batting average and .500 in OBP.
  24. Time to move on. Can't keep running the same guys out there year after year and expecting an improved result. Go with Saladino or Sanchez and spend the money to get a third baseman or a catcher.
