Kiley's Midseason Top 50
I am also very interested in Eloy's future with the team, but there's a whole thread about that. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?/topic/113066-eloy-is-dead-again/&page=6 I come to the future sox board to get away from all the disappointment with the mlb team.

Fire Rick Hahn
Maybe we should merge all these threads into a massive "fire everyone" thread. Hahn, Menechino, and TLR should all go. None of that's gonna happen unless KW goes. KW is not going anywhere unless JR goes. Mellody Hobson/George Lucas buying controlling interest in the team is now my New Hope (pun intended). They don't have to become Steve Cohen-like spenders. Just bringing the F.O. up to 2010 level in analytics would make a huge difference.

Kiley's Midseason Top 50
Interesting debate amongst Popeye, and Sosa. Popeye and Sosa are incredibly similar players -- Both went from never walking to reasonable approaches in AA (seriously, is Charlie Romero a thing?), both are better at 2b but can play ss, both have slightly above average tools but those play up cuz they're smart players. Popeye has more useable speed, Sosa has more raw power. They need to hold on to the right guy here. You'll recall the Sox had Saladino, Yolmer, and Semien all coming up together and... they chose poorly.

8/19 Games
Severino gave up 5 runs in a third of an inning. The fact that he's still on the 40 man tells you all you need to know about the Sox pitching depth.

8/19 Games
He's not sexy, but Tommy Sommer has been decent.

8/19 Games
Hopefully he settles in and gets ready for his next shot at the majors.

Fire Rick Hahn
You wish Vaughn had 4.9 speed.

Wow. That graph confirms so much. The trend in every sport is to hire as many extra coaches and analysts as humanly possible. Sox hand out some iPads and let players fend for themselves.

spoke too soon. Just gave up a 3 run bomb to Dom Smith. Bilous is out of the game.

2 doubles for Kath. I am low man on Bilous because he continues to walk the known universe. 3 already tonight, somehow no ER.

Bummer update
Great he’ll be completely healthy for the meaningless games in September and a pleasant offseason with the fam. I am happy for him.

Updated MLB Pipeline Sox Top 30
For my part, I have followed Callis since the beginning at BA. I have a lot of respect for him. Mayo… eh. I have never thought much of him. On their podcast, Callis clearly wanted to rank Colas. Mayo did not. Mayo likes speedy slap hitters who steal bases, which is not a thing that currently wins baseball games, no matter how often Manfred changes the rules to make it a thing.

8/18 Finale vs. Astros (Giolito v. Garcia RHP) 1:10 PM
Some of this is leaguewide. Manfred keeps messing with things — sticky stuff, changing the ball, humidors etc. with next to no Spring to adjust, Sox right field heavy approach does not work with deadened ball.

Per Passan, Elvis Andrus signing with White Sox, joining team in Cleveland
I would sign Andrus. He’s not good, but Sosa is not ready and needs ABs in AAA. Keep Romy, sign Andrus, pinch hit when necessary. Cut Harrison and Andrus at end of year.

BA Org Talent Rankings Update
This seems about right to me. One interesting question on philosophies -- would you rather have a couple of impact talents or a lot of depth. The Cubs, for instance, have had no break outs this year, but they have depth throughout. The Sox have a decided lack of depth, especially on the mound, but Montgomery, Colas, Ramos, and Sosa all profile ahead of Pete Crow-Armstrong and Brennan Davis offensively at this point. Clearly, the rankings factor in depth at a fairly high level, but winning in the majors requires the farm to produce impact players. I think the Cardinals are a great example of a deep farm system that produces a lot of big league contributors.

8/17 Games
Rough pitching night. So far, the four full season teams have given up 29 runs and Birmingham has barely started.

Personally, I cannot wait for robo-umps.

Is Maldonado that good at framing? Seems like the Astros have gotten a metric ton of strike calls in this series.

Petition for New Banner
Might be my favorite banner yet. Great job!!!

Good for him, but I can think of another lefthanded-hitting corner of I would rather see promoted.

Your Mid Season Top 10
I am not particularly hopeful about Stiever. As was pointed out, he got ripped in AAA before the injury and has not pitched almost a year after lat surgery. By comparison, McDougal and Pallette both had TJS. The prognosis from that procedure is pretty good and so far neither of them has reported any setbacks. McDougal is already throwing. I feel way more confident that McDougal and Pallette will have a chance to be mlb starters than Stiever, although it is always wie to bet the under on any prospect's chances of making it.
