07/31 - A's @ White Sox, 1:10 PM CT
How much is too much to give up to increase the marginal chance this garbage team wins 1 playoff series? I wouldn’t give up much and they don’t have much. This regime’s long history of prospect overpays (Semien, Tatis, etc) has me very wary about what they will give up. And their poor acquisition history has me wary of who they will get (Shields, Swisher, Smardzjia, Yonder, Cesar, etc.). Hence, I am rooting for them to stand pat.

Sure, David Peralta will solve everything
Pilkington is the perfect example of our FO not understanding mlb trends (or being extremely late adopters). With 2020 interrupting pitching development, non-impact mlb-ready SP rose in value. Teams like Minny & Cle took advantage last year, the Sox decided to focus on it in the draft.

White Sox Sell Thread
If the division were better, they would sell. The team is “mired in mediocrity.” 83-79 in their last 162. No reason to expect any kind of winning streak, but 2 good weeks could give them the division. They certainly are no fun to watch at home.

What would you consider a success at this point?
This sums up my view.

Cub manager keeping that guy out there is a menace.

Benintendi to NYY
Cub fans tweeting they should get Colas for Happ. I get he's got an extra year of control, but Happ doesn't have Benintendi's track record. They're getting a package like this for him.

Hey, any chance our AA hitting coach should be the mlb hitting coach?

Rumor: Sox Pursuing Jose Quintana
I respect you, and you know way more about the Sox minor leagues than I ever will, however, this is not entirely correct. Keith Law wrote a piece when the trade was rumored in which scouts from other organizations opined that, were he draft eligible, Tatis Jr. would be 1-1 and they compared him to A-Rod and Griffey. Somebody knew he was going to be good. And if the Sox didn't, well, that's even more damning.

Anyone who has sources inside the organization: please tell them about the existence of the IL.

If the Sox trade for Juan Soto we have a chance.
I am on record as being against trading Colas to get Soto and then not be able to resign him. Baseball America says, here's why I am wrong: https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/teams-rarely-regret-cost-of-trading-for-a-star-position-player/

Fair enough, but the bar to be an offensive and defensive upgrade in right for the Sox is horribly low. If he's a 1 WAR player, I think that's an improvement. Also, I don't believe he's going to keep an OPS of 1.400 going for a month. There will be regression.

Barons win. Colas finishes 3-3, 2HR, a single and a walk. Now hitting .458 with a 1.417 OPS at AA. He's been on fire ever since, according to Barkett, he made a slight swing adjustment. Is it possible, and I really don't want to get my hopes up, that the Sox minor league hitting coaches are actually pretty good? They helped Sosa make a leap and Colas has clearly gotten better as the year has gone on.

Rick Hahn is the only GM on Earth dumb enough to trade a cost-controlled beast for a $550 million beast. I get it, Soto is way better than Colas and the same age. But Colas is going to be quite good. And affordable.- 7/24 Games
Colas HR #3. He is in beast mode.- 7/24 Guardians @ White Sox 1:10 The Road to .500 Continues….
What's Liam's FIP v. Cleveland vs. the rest of the world? They wear him out.- 7/24 Games
Sorry. It's Sunday. Montgomery is off on Sunday sometimes, so it's probably nothing. But I can't unthink it.- 7/24 Guardians @ White Sox 1:10 The Road to .500 Continues….
Our bullpen absolutely blows against the Guard Tribe.- 7/24 Games
My paranoia is that Vaughn, Montgomery, and Popeye are all not playing today. Probably nothing, but it made me go hmmmmm.- 7/24 Games
Colas HR #2. He is serious about making the majors.- 7/24 Games
Sox traditionally go for power over hit which seldom works out. I've got my fingers crossed.
