Veras hit another hr and a triple. He’s been on fire this week.
-
Colas not in the line up today.
-
I saw Sooner yesterday in person in Kanny. Cubs affiliate has a lot of big righties, he baffled them with the off speed at times, but there was a far amount of hard contact. A college lefty who can change speeds in lo A should be successful. I’m reserving judgment until he faces more experienced hitters.

Love how aggressive you went with Hernandez. I didn't have the guts.

I did my top 20 on the plane back from NC this weekend: 1.Montgomery 2. Colas 3. Sosa 4. Vera 5. Ramos 6. Mena 7. Burke 8. Kath 9. Jose Rodriguez 10. Thompson 11. Kelley 12. Cespedes 13. Davis Martin 14. Romy Gonzalez 15. Erick Hernandez 16. Chappelli (aggressive, right?) 17. Mieses 18. Dalquist 19. Yolbert 20. Stiever Just missed: Veras, Bailey, Gladney, Quezada

At Kanny game. Bailey has smoked the ball every time up. Homer for Veras. Team looks sharp. 6-1

I was at Winston game again tonight. Colas had a great game, 4-5 with a double. Clearly he is not long for that level. Mieses only 1-5 but he hit the ball hard several times. Still, Montgomery was the most impressive guy. 2 hard hit singles including a screamer to left with the bases juiced. He looks good in the field as well. Ramos sat. Thompson looked better than his final line suggests

Colas 4-5, Montgomery 2-5
-
Thompson laboring a bit 5 hits, 2 runs so far. Not especially hard hit. Up to 96 with a really good curve.
-
Montgomery 1-1 single

One more thing: if Sosa is enough better than Leury that he hits 7 spots ahead of him, doesn’t that imply he should get more at bats on a daily basis?
-
Ha ha. From not playing to hitting lead off. WTF? Naturally, Sosa can’t play instead of Leury, he has to supplement “the Franchise.” Anyway, I hope the kid can get his first hit before they send him back down. #firemenechinotandlarussa

Btw, Trey Sweeney played short for the Renegades. Pretty clearly not a shortstop, some holes in his swing as well. I think he can be a big leaguer but Sox got the right guy in the draft.

I would hate to give up any tangible assets to chase a playoff bid for this pitiful team. If it were part of a major restructure — you trade assets and use money to get Soto on a long term deal — sure. But trading anything for half a year of Chris Drury for a team going nowhere? That seems insane.

SOX GT 6/24 - BEGINNING OF A 3 GAME WIN STREAK
Timmy U replied to he gone.'s topic in 2022 Season in Review
He is not giving him anything “those are his at bats.” -
Just got back from the Dash (Salsa) game. Montgomery looked fantastic at the plate. HR came after he got ahead 3-0, perhaps more impressive was his final ab, an out. He fell behind 0-2 on kinda questionable breaking balls down and in. He certainly questioned the second one. But he stayed calm, stayed in his approach and hit a hard fly ball to center. Things don’t seem to speed up on him.
-
HR Montgomery. I am at the game
-
Woo! I’ll see tomorrow night (instead of Sunday afternoon)!
-
My luck is that they promote him Sunday and I miss him both places.
-
I am flying down to NC today. Gonna be at W-S on Saturday, Kanny on Sunday.

Granted, but Sosa has made big mechanical adjustments. I’m not saying he’s gonna tear the league up right away or even this year, but he has 140 wrc+ at Birmingham and is on a pace to hit 30 hr in that ballpark. I’d say it’s fair to say his profile has changed. Jose Ramirez hit 14 hr in his minor league career, then his profile changed. It happens. Maybe the Sox did something right? Anyway, I’m excited to see him. Predicting he is up to mostly play 3b because Tony doesn’t like Burger’s defense.

Doug Glanville with a deep dive on TA vs Josh Donaldson
Timmy U replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I know he’s a former Cub, but I absolutely love Glanville. Another powerful piece from him. (Stupid autocorrect made me misspell his name before) -
ReyLo has been so valuable the last month as an opener, in short, and long relief. He's been a real glue guy for this team.
-
I'm a Sox fan and I approve this message.
-
I think he ended up with 3 HRs and 5 rbi. Shades of Matt Davidson and Tuffy Rhodes.
