2024 - MLB Draft Thread
If they think he is 1b only, I hope they do not pick him. Rainer and Griffin both play premium positions, Montgomery is a + right fielder. It puts way too much pressure on the bat to be taking a 1b with a top 5 pick.

5/15 Games
Kanny has received 14 walks in 6 innings. They currently lead 16-1. Peppers 6IP 6H 1R 1ER 1bb 5K.

Baldwin was 4-4, bb, 2 SB, 3R. Guy is a winning player.

5/15 Games
Birmingham came back to win this game. Walk off double for Wilfred Veras. 4 innings of 1 hit ball by the Barons' pen.

5/14 Games
Wolkow 1-2 with 3bb, K, double, sb playing cf. It's the ACL, so it doesn't reveal all that much, but he's walking a ton. He's up to .385. Nice start for the kid.

Sox unveil the new Maldonado line .100
I don't expect Stassi to ever don the Sox uni. That said, Chuckie Robinson would probably be better overall than Maldonado. Plus, I believe Quero will be ready for a cup of September coffee, but I don't think he has to be added to the 40 man this winter, so I doubt they do it.

Robbie Grossman traded to TEX for RHP Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa
Trading vets for prospects is a good idea. No problem there. But it's not the best way to build an organization. AJ Preller is fine trading away prospects because he knows there's another draft and International signing period coming around to restock. The Sox have to get into the top group in identifying and developing players in order to stay competitive. You can't count on trading Quintana for Dylan Cease then trading Dylan Cease for prospects who you then trade for younger prospects ad infinitum. Eventually, you have to sign your own guys. I am confident in the Sox recent drafts, unlike the drafts from 2016-2020, but the proof is in the eating.

2024 MiLB Catch All
I have to admit that, based on my looks at Kanny, I was down on the guy with the exception of his plate discipline. But he has totally remade his swing and looks good. On his last homer in particular, there was bat speed that you just did not see last year. So, I'm greatly encouraged and hope to continue to be proven prematurely negative.

5/8 Games
I don’t think Baldwin would affect Gonzalez getting promoted one way or the other. For one, Baldwin has played 7 positions. Second, the Barons 2b situation is weak. They could slide Brooks over or have the two of them alternate. Interesting to see who would play short if all three make the majors. From the eye test I think Gonzalez is slightly better than Montgomery or Baldwin. Montgomery has the strongest arm. Baldwin is the fastest of the three. It’s pretty close.

Robbie Grossman traded to TEX for RHP Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa
I know it doesn't matter, but I really don't want to see Remillard play on the Sox anymore.

Robbie Grossman traded to TEX for RHP Anthony Hoopii-Tuionetoa
He's a former 30th rounder who will turn 24 this year. Not a bad flyer for a guy who literally no one (including Texas) wanted to sign this off-season.

Fire Pedro Grifol
After listening to Garfein interviewing him, I want Sergio Santos to be the next Sox manager.

5/6 Game
Wolkow and Mogollon both 0-3 with 3Ks so far. Adrian Gil is at 3b and has 2 hits after playing 1st a lot in the DSLin deference to Arxy Hernandez. 2-2with a walk for Ryan Burrowes. I gotta believe he is just in the ACL for a short time getting his timing back before he heads to Kanny.

5/5 1:15pm CDT Rubber game in STL, Ramos starts.
I love the StL crowd booing. Imagine losing 2/3 to this team.

I hope not. I don't think he's at peak value yet.

Nice job, Wilson. I get the Cardinals are not good, but Sox pitching has been encouraging lately. Hill, Brebbia, Wilson probably all gone at the deadline though. Maybe Fedde too.

4th PA Montgomery smoked it but Jordan Walker made a nice play on him.

Josimar Cousin does not look all that great.

5/4 Games
I think it could go either way. Similar to Eder, at times his command jumps. If he throws strikes, he has the stuff to be a starter. If he doesn't, he could be good in the pen. He has been very good this year, so I'd say it's trending in the right direction.

Ky Bush done. 6IP 6H 3R 3ER 1bb 6K. The hits were mostly bunched. He pitched better than that line indicates.

5/4 Games
Schultz is out of the game 3.1 2H 2R 0ER 1BB 6K. Sloppy play by the Dash, including 2WP by their reliever hurt.
-
5/4 Games
2 more Ks for Schultz in the 3rd. Weak grounder for the other out.

5/4 Games
Schultz in the second was much better. 2K's.
