  1. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:37 PM) Verlander and Mauer are worse as well. Mauer I think I'd definitely take as his deal is over after 2018 and as a lefty who still puts up a strong OBP he'd almost fit ideally into the 2 spot in our lineup. Verlander I struggled with, that contract is rough but he's also having a nice year.
  2. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 03:11 PM) The Sox now have two former MVPs on the team in Rollins and Morneau If you picked two at random, it could be worse. Active players with MVP hardware: AL: Donaldson Trout Miggy Verlander Josh Hamilton* Mauer Pedroia A-Rod* Morneau Ichiro NL: Harper Kershaw McCutchen Posey Braun Votto Pujols* Rollins Ryan Howard* * = Worse. Factors in contract. Votto is borderline.
  3. If nothing else this will annoy Twins fans.
  4. QUOTE (chisox802 @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 02:58 PM) Take it for what it's worth, but heard from my buddy who works for sox & bulls that expect a Morneau signing announcement today or tomorrow. Chicago White SoxVerified account ‏@whitesox The #WhiteSox have agreed to terms with first baseman Justin Morneau on a one-year, $1-million contract.
  5. QUOTE (Deadpool @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 02:51 PM) So my point stands. Dick Allen being Dick Allen. No, not really. Theo deserves credit for lots of things, most notably all the trade robberies they've pulled off. The role of drafting in their success is overstated.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 02:49 PM) Bryant was the only guy on the Cubs roster 2 days ago the amazing Theo drafted. Schwarber looks like a good pick, but he didn't rebuild the team through the draft. He signed a bunch of free agents and made some great trades. +1
  7. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 02:28 PM) I'm slow, I don't get it. I just found it funny he replied to somebody complaining about the broadcast mid-game, he echoed the frustration of Sox fans (like, "It's 7-0, what would you like me to say?"), and that he used the word 'dude.'
  8. If Bernie voters were so much more passionate and numerous than Clinton supporters, as I frequently read online, then they wouldn't let any CNN declaration stop them from going to the polls. I'm curious what Limbaugh thinks though.
  9. Rick Curl ‏@sptswrtrrick 13 hours ago @WriteSox is it just me or does the duo of @stevestone and @jasonbenetti seem to get farther off base the longer they work together Steve Stone @stevestone 13 hours ago @sptswrtrrick @WriteSox @jasonbenetti it's just you. 7 zip dude Stoney is real feisty on twitter, you just have to wade into his replies to realize it.
  10. *eye roll* I'm as upset about the Shields acquisition as anybody but I stopped reading there. Are we in 3rd grade?
  11. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 9, 2016 -> 07:06 AM) Where can I find what our team's BB rate was during our hot stretch vs. what is has been during our slump? Maybe I'm completely wrong here, but it seems like when our offense was really clicking we were drawing a ton of walks and recently we've lost that discipline. If there is a noticeable difference, to me that's proof we're really pressing right now and IMO a coach should be held accountable for that change in approach. Again, I could be totally wrong here, just what it feels like. I was curious so I looked it up. First 33 games: 9.12% walk rate Last 26 games: 7.75% walk rate There's an appreciable difference there, but 7.75% is not bad per se. It would be smack in the middle for AL teams if it was our full-season number. Lawrie's unsustainable rate from the start of the season is largely responsible. If he keeps walking at that rate during the 6-20 stretch, the team's figure shoots up to 8.48%.
  12. Dave Cameron: MLB Should Throw the Book at Yordano Ventura Bravo. Enough of this dirtbag and his psychopathic behavior.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 12:54 PM) You probably wouldn't have gotten Shields then. What a disaster that would have been, not having the opportunity to pay James Shields for the next 2.5 seasons. Sorry. Just popping in to dump some afternoon salt.
  14. In almost every situation, bunting with one of your most productive hitters is just a bad idea. Even if he's in an 0-for-x slump.
  15. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 10:54 AM) So KW deserves the job for life? Because of what happened back in 2005? QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 10:56 AM) Apparently in the White Sox organization he does. Mark QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 10:42 AM) I'm always gona have love for KW because of it. I think it's time he goes or loses some of his power however but I'm not gona listen to the almighty antagonist trash him likes he's some s*** talent evaluator.
  16. Yeah as B>W says, you can't just look at the win probability after the bunt was laid down. Judge the decision when it was made, and factor in the likelihood of the hitter failing to move the runners AND making an out. That tilts it back out of favor.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 04:56 PM) Is this an Albers joke? He pulled his weight again.

  19. Last ingredient to trigger a mass Mets fan seppuku would be walking the bases loaded and then wriggling out of it.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 04:37 PM) Purke warming in the bullpen in CF. Albers' legs might be gone. Maybe you have to pull him the first baserunner that reaches. I'd say just ride or die with Purke at this point.
  21. Christopher Kamka ‏@ckamka 47s47 seconds ago Albers is first #WhiteSox reliever (non-position player pitcher) to score a run snice Cliff Politte 6/8/2005
  22. QUOTE (shysocks @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 02:56 PM) If I were a Mets fan this game would be giving me an aneurysm.
