Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 39s39 seconds ago View translation #WhiteSox for 5/19: Eaton 9, Sanchez 4, Abreu 3, Frazier 5, Cabrera 7, Rollins 6, Sands DH, Avila 2, Jackson 8. Sale 1. -
My unscientific study of the comments on the new Ghostbusters trailer has revealed that YouTube users with anime girls for avatars really dislike that movie.

Peavy was 4-4 against the Tigers as a White Sox. -
Lawrie you gotta make contact at some point man.

Stir it.

Thankfully Valbuena isn't hurt.

One of those nights weeks.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 18, 2016 -> 03:50 PM) He doesn't need to come in contact. That's not in the rules. Ump was just wrong. I was just copying his quote, but you're right and it is worth pointing out. Avila was incorrect. Astros manager also said something about how the runner would have gone back to first and the inning would have continued anyway, which is bull. How do these guys not know the rules?

QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ May 18, 2016 -> 03:25 PM) The catcher didn't sell the interference well enough. In the heat of the moment that's hard to think about doing but it's call that a guy like AJ would have gotten. I think the reason the umpire didn't think to call it because the catcher went out of his way to get the throw off cleanly (and this might not have been as obvious to the umpire). Avila said almost exactly this after the game. “He was directly in front of me and I had to throw over him,” Avila said. “According to the rules there has to be some sort of contact. Problem is, if I throw normal there I smoke him in the head. Next time I’ll just throw it and hit him, but that’s not something I would wanna do. That’s unfortunate that’s how it is. Your reaction is to kind of get out of his way and make the play but next time if there’s a batter in front -- I’d feel bad. “(Correa) was in front of me but (the umpire) said he ducked. He’s 6’4 and I’m 5’10 so there’s still a difference there. He was in front of me. I couldn’t step through it and tried to throw over him. Like I said, next time if that happens again, I’ll just throw it like I normally would.” Is that what we want? Do your jobs, umps.

Ventura will earn his extension the next 43 games

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 18, 2016 -> 09:12 AM) Bunting isn't necessarily a bad thing if there are guys that know how to do it in the right situations. The problem is that no one on the Sox can lay them down consistently. Very rarely is it a good idea. -

#1, stop bunting. PLEASE. #2, and I know it's been beaten to death, but we have ten hitters who you'd call regulars. Why are two of the worst ones hitting second all the time? Lawrie or Melky could easily slide in there. Some would call changing the batting order right now a panic move. I'd call it smart. -
Sure, the Sox absolutely should have put that game away before the 11th inning, and Albers should make a better pitch on 0-2. I just want the umpires to do their jobs.

Props to Benetti for getting on Twitter after the game last night and hashing out the interference rules. Jason Benetti @jasonbenetti 9h9 hours ago Don't tweet without a rule book in front of you: If a batter is out and impedes a play made on a teammate, the teammate is out. DP. Jason Benetti @jasonbenetti 9h9 hours ago In the case of interference with an on-going batter, runner returns to base. In case of interference with batter who is out, runner is out. Jason Benetti @jasonbenetti 9h9 hours ago As many have cited, the rule is 6.01(a)(5), and the standard is "hinders or impedes." So, no requirement of contact on catcher.

Words can't do justice to the rage I've felt at umps this year - from the strike zone to the downright incorrect application of baseball rules - so I'll just say this: ASEOASDVBASTJABVLAKDUQWQ234ADJIVAASDFSDGASD

QUOTE (Deadpool @ May 17, 2016 -> 10:02 AM) In fairness, Ezio is THE Assassins Creed character. ACII is a fantastic game. Change your name to BenettiismyHomeboy The original and II are actually the only ones I've played, so I'm in no position to throw shade at the entire series, but II just didn't do it for me. It felt stale even at the time.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 17, 2016 -> 09:25 AM) Does his new name have any sort of meaning? Ezio Auditore is a main character from one of the 19 indistinguishable Assassin's Creed video games.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 17, 2016 -> 09:26 AM) We didn't lose the Freddy Garcia (original trade) because it led to a World Series (along with the contract extension). Oh, I forgot Garland for Karchner, that was a classic. It's easy to list all the bad trades: Ritchie for Wells/Fogg/Lowe Billy Koch (although eventually Cotts paid off) Durham for Adkins (and no draft pick comp) Swisher (both) Javy Vazquez (both weren't great) Edwin Jackson (to Toronto) Carl Everett for Majewski and Rauch (although he was World Series-winning DH most of two years) Edwin Jackson for Daniel Hudson Also forgot about Matt Guerrier for Damaso Marte...Marte was the best LH reliever in the majors (arguably, at least top 2-3) for three seasons then started to fall apart in 2005. Here's the thing GreenSox. Look who we've replaced in the past couple of seasons....DeAza/Viciedo/Ramirez/Gillaspie/Flowers/Beckham, not seeing many "losses" there. Because of budgetary constraints, we added a bunch of "proven" but flawed veterans, which has gotten us to first place for most of the first six weeks of the season. We've also discarded John Danks. I can't realistically see what we could have done differently. It's easy to say sign Fowler, Jordan Zimmerman, Maeda, Trumbo....even Ian Desmond, but it's all after the fact. We have to remember that Dave Roberts is playing Thompson every day, he's benefiting from the most favorable possible pitching match-ups. Unless they're going to bench Puig or Crawford, he can't play every day. Somehow I don't think these are the recommendations GreenSox would make.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 17, 2016 -> 09:13 AM) Any ideas in Canada for a 3-4 day trip in August? I've been to most places I want to in the US and obviously Europe is out of the question. So leaning towards planning a trip to Canada where I've never been but I don't even know where to start. Start at Glacier National Park in Montana, then drive to Banff National Park. Since it's a shorter trip that's probably enough, but if you've got more days I'd also recommend flying to Vancouver from Calgary and doing everything there is to do there. This is some of what you'll see in Banff:

QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 17, 2016 -> 08:48 AM) This guy is 34, has an OPS of .627 in .708 major league at bats. To use him for anything other than Charlotte filler would be beyond belief......except that this org. loves its veterans. Heck Leury is 25 and has an OPS of .823 in Charlotte this year. You're f***ing complaining about a minor league filler move. Leury Garcia is quite literally one of the worst hitters to play in the majors in the last thirty years.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 17, 2016 -> 07:46 AM) It's Extremely accurate in trades where Sox acquire an accomplished player. It's been true since Kenny Williams started making trades and Hahn has continued the tradition of vastly overpaying, if not amped it up a notch. Caufield's list is instructive because it shows the Sox are pretty good at making trades for players that haven't yet accomplished a lot in the majors. Why the Sox don't stick to those I have no idea except that the last 2 field staffs have had a general distaste for developing young players. Caulfield's list included Freddy Garcia and Scott Podsednik, and even left off Kevin Youkilis. But it's no surprise that you're generally a fan of acquiring worse players. Trayce and his 32% HR/FB rate are looking good though. He is a nice player, but Frazier has been worth it. The sooner you admit that, the sooner we can all move on with our lives.

Odor cut Eaton off and knocked him over as he was advancing on a throwing error last week. He is dirty as f*** and has no room to complain about sliding. http://www.sbnation.com/lookit/2015/10/3/9...lide-disgusting

GDT 5/14 Sox (24-12) vs. Yanks (14-20) at 12:05 CT

QUOTE (SonofaRoache @ May 14, 2016 -> 02:32 PM) Why don't you all just comprehend what I said instead of taking my comment and and trying to be smart asses. I never said it was easy to hit MLB pitches. But yes if you know a pitcher has a filthy slider that people are missing AND it has been a ball each time, then yes you can go up to the plate and take two pitches. Just don't swing at the first two pitches. And yes if I were in the ML and I saw two guys swing at pitches that were balls but were filthy but BALLS I would take two pitches. That post deserved every smartass response it got. -
