What I want for a catcher is someone who calls a good game, that pitchers like and who can defend Flowers does all of that. He's gonna be a downgrade offensively, yes (AJ will never repeat his 2012 season) As for AJ being the "heart and soul" of the team and him bringing something to the clubhouse that may be true, but what has that gotten the Sox since '05? Maybe it's time for a heart transplant.

If plenty of teams need a full time catcher and there seems to be no issues with with "character", then AJ's time on the soutside is over. I don't even want the Chairman to step in. The money would be better used elsewhere and I'm confident in Flowers
  3. Getting rid of a loser like Floyd? Sign me up.
  4. A singles hitter at third. Just what we need... Can't have ZERO power from every infielder except Paulie
  5. Seems like Hahn is doing what KW never seemed to do. Dealing at the Winter Meetings and not before... Unless the team is done already haha
  6. Here's the question: What City will the Rays be in when the year 2023 gets here? I'm gonna say Portland.
  7. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 21, 2012 -> 08:23 AM) John Olerud lives in Seattle. Joe Carter is the worst. I wasn't being 100% serious, they were just literally the only 2 blue jays from the past I could think of...
  8. Don't understand the re-hiring of Gibbons, he was already the manager the last time the Jays loaded up in the off-season and they still missed the playoffs. His Wikipedia page literally has a section entitled "Controversy with players". So that's DEFINITELY the guy you want leading a clubhouse of superstar players. To go along with his 305-305 record. That's the best AA could come up with? What's John Olerud up to? or Joe Carter? It's all the rage to hire former players from your heyday as manager... At least they're gonna underachieve in great uniforms... (but not against the Sox for whatever reason haha)
  9. Jesus....$11 mil one of the years for Guthrie?

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 07:00 PM) Got tickets today to see Fun. when they come to Ball State. Tickets were $5 each! $5! So excited. The only concert I've ever been to was ....... Lil wayne. UGH. Hate that asshole. Even thought I'm not a big fan of Some Nights, they still put on one hell of a live show... Seen them I think 5 times since 2009. You won't be disappointed....
  11. QUOTE (SpainSOXfan09 @ Nov 16, 2012 -> 12:36 PM) 2 years, 16 million. Looks like the Jays are all in. Link: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1411782...-jays?hpt=hp_t3 Well pretty much guaranteed to miss the playoffs now... Jokes aside I do think they will fail. This loading up on people just doesn't amount to championships in the modern age. Hell the Jays did something similar in 2007.
  12. Hector needs to be starting in 2013
  13. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Nov 14, 2012 -> 02:24 PM) I hate the Sox have to play second fiddle to the f***ing tigers when it comes to spending $ for a team I don't want the Sox to be paying Cabrera and Fielder $20 mill into their mid-late-30's. That's bad business
  14. I hope Illitch keeps throwing out money to try and win a championship.... In a few years that organization will be so hamstrung with high end contracts... especially if they're gonna try and lock up Verlander and Scherzer. He'll keep throwing money and they'll never win a title.
  15. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Nov 13, 2012 -> 10:33 PM) I do not. I'm not sure Hahn knows all the GMs like Kenny did. I predicted Day 2 of the WM as my guess because he would take Day 1 to get acquainted with everyone and send out feelers. Then again, I could be completely wrong and he knows the entire league already, who knows. Being an assistant GM for so long, I can't imagine he didn't talk to these guys at various points in the last chunk of years. It's not like he's some unknown baseball person. They don't know how he's gonna operate as a GM yet, but honestly I don't think he knows yet either. We will all find out in the next few weeks though. I'm excited either way.
  16. Wonder if Hahn will share the same MO as Kenny and do his trades before the winter meetings.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 13, 2012 -> 08:10 PM) Mark literally took a leap of faith based on Ozzie being in Miami. Now hes in f***ing Toronto. Good hunting there I imagine. So that's something he can look forward to.
  18. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Nov 13, 2012 -> 06:08 PM) Agree. Josh Johnson however is. Brandon Morrow is as well. If they're healthy. Lots of question marks with the team even after this trade, and playing in the East which got a lot better in 2012 with the Yankees being the Yankees, the Orioles making major leaps and the Rays being the Rays plus, I expect the Red Sox to reload this off-season. It's gonna be tough for Toronto...
  19. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Nov 13, 2012 -> 06:06 PM) Farrell seemed like a s***ty manager judging by the carelessness & flashiness their players showed on the field. Getting him out of there is just going to be a good thing IMO. If they bring in the right manager, then it can boil down to a relatively simple equation of Talent + Confidence + Health = Success. They could be an excellent team next year. If Romero rebounds and Buehrle is Buehrle then you have 2 aces at the top and 2 #3's in the middle, plus lots of power and speed on offense, plus excellent athletes on the field defensively. MBINAA
  20. Can't wait to watch the Blue Jays still only be a .500 team yet again in 2013
  21. QUOTE (kapzk @ Nov 13, 2012 -> 05:04 PM) I wonder how content Buerhle is with pitching in Toronto, as we all recall he always had that stance of Chicago or St.Louis only, eventhough he ended up in Miami but with Ozzie. I don't think Mark is gonna have a very fun time facing the Yankees, Red Sox, Rays and O's so many times a year. Don't have his career numbers vs. the East, but I don't remember too many good performances against Boston and New York...
  22. I honestly wonder if they will trade Stanton. He doesn't cost anything...yet. But he's obviously pissed off and wont want to be there, but will Loria give a s*** about that?
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 13, 2012 -> 04:22 PM) They would get laughed at. What, suddenly the Marlins will be more discerning?
  24. QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 13, 2012 -> 04:02 PM) Sox should trade Viciedo, Thompson, Sanchez, Santiago, and any two other eligible-to-be-traded milb players to the Marlins for Stanton. Like I said... literally ANYONE but Sale. I'm fine with sending to Miami for Stanton. Any other position player, pitcher, and prospect they can have. 6-for-1 deal? 8-for-1? Don't care. Stanton is a BEAST.
  25. QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 13, 2012 -> 03:46 PM) So last year may have been one of the most epic fails ever in sports. I'd be calling about Stanton right now. Hope Buehrle can hang in the AL East. Didn't Boston and the Yankees always give Buehrle fits? This might not be the best thing for him...
