Rest vs. Rust....let's go rust! f*** Detroit (last night and tonight) Giants have been playing out of their minds against much stiffer competition, hope that plays into it.
-
I always thought you couldn't make any trades before the World Series was over... Maybe it's just free agency I'm thinking of.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 17, 2012 -> 02:06 PM) I thought this was an announcement by the poster You could tell it wasn't because there was no exclamation point at the end of every sentence.

Looking like a rematch of 2006 is coming...with hopefully the same result

HAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA

Go Yankees! Ugh.... I need to take a shower.

QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 13, 2012 -> 06:12 AM) F those D-bags Ironically I wouldn't have cared if the 2006 Tigers had won. Sure Maggs was kind of a dick, but other than that... The 2012 team? Chock full of classless pieces of s***. Combined with throwing money around like they're the Yankees. I hope the Cardinals beat them again (I think that will be the match up by the way, although there would be a small bit of intrigue of a Yankees vs. Cardinals, most championships vs. second most championships match up as well)

Baseball had done so well these last few years with such great variety in playoff and World Series match-ups... What a let down....

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 09:25 PM) HOW CAN YOU NOT BE ENTERTAINED BY THIS CARDINALS TEAM?! ANSWER ME That's one of the best comeback's ever. E-V-E-R. I'm bummed the A's and O's didnt make it too, s*** I wanted to see the Reds.... but come on, the Cardinals are just awesome to watch. They won last year. I want new people. That's my reason. That being said I think the Cards are gonna win it all now...

QUOTE (ROC Sox Fan @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 08:39 PM) If the Nats lose this, f*** the playoff field left. I don't care to see the Tigers (06), Yankees (09), Giants (10), or Cards (06, 11) in the World Series again. BORING. Yep. Pretty much.

QUOTE (SouthSidePride05 @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 06:42 PM) You obviously haven't taken a look at Google Maps recently. The images are fairly recent, probably taken sometime this summer. Just zoom in. In a perfect world, they'd tear down Adler Planetarium (move it south on Northerly Island), and build a new ballpark right at the site of the Adler Planetarium with the seats facing the skyline. That actually sounds kinda badass...

Speaking as an insane person who has no idea what he's talking about, referring to Google Maps, I see there is a church and elementary school right next door. Cant they buy those and knock en down to build more attractions? Nobody needs school or church right?

QUOTE (SouthSidePride05 @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 05:47 PM) There's definitely plenty of Sox fans in the Chicagoland area to consistently fill the park. The reason they don't go is because it's just not worth it. Why not? One of the main reasons is because the stadium is almost always empty, which takes away a lot of the excitement from the ballpark experience. It puts a damper on the experience. People are generally social and want to be where other people are, where the party is at. Everyone and their Grandpa in Chicago knows about the Sox attendance woes.. and that's what's hurting attendance every year. If attendance ever goes up in a few years, the news will get around, and then everyone will want to go. Just like in the summer of 2006 when most games were sellouts or near sellouts, the White Sox instantly became a hot ticket. How do you make the Sox a hot ticket again? Cater to the casual fan and tourists. This means get rid of Thunderstruck. It's annoying and off-putting. Get rid of the current "rough" culture and start to create a more family friendly culture. If families coming from the burbs begin to notice that the crowd no longer resembles a typical crowd for a Mega Death concert, more families would likely start to go more often. Create an "Out of State/Visitor Parking Lot", where any vehicle with a license plate other than Illinois pays only $5. Build new roads/lots to ease the traffic nightmares. Build tourist attractions around the park, like the Bean or Cloud Gate or whatever it's called. Or a giant Ferris wheel. Fountains. Lots of them. Inside and outside the park. Anything to beautify the immediate area around the park. We NEED to draw more tourists. If attendance picks up, the locals and diehards will notice and simple supply and demand will take care of the rest. I do think building stuff around the area would definitely help. I know nothing of what can/would be possible logistic, but like good family restaurants as well as cool bars would help. Same thing with retail and parks...

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 04:11 PM) Guy moves to the suburbs, wants to take the Sox with him. Talk about having your cake and eating it too. In all seriousness...moving to the suburbs would actually be really wise. Throw the team in the middle of Schaumburg, and you'd have a lot more young Sox fans. Since I don't live there anymore are there actual feasible places to build a ballpark in the suburbs? (In this complete fantasy of course)

The Tigers are not a good team by any stretch of the imagination. Just look at their defense, inconsistent pitching and overall record compared to everyone else. What they are is a team that turned it on with 2 weeks to go and have combined that with some extreme luck. Starting the playoffs at home because of MLB's dumb scheduling. You saw what kind of team Detroit is on the road, if they started at home against the A's it could have been a completely different series. That luck might continue if Baltimore can pull off a game 5 win. Detroit would have home field advantage even with an inferior record to the O's which should get them to the series where hopefully the NL team (with homefield advantage thanks to Justin Verlander ironically) can destroy them.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 12, 2012 -> 01:09 PM) It is crazy to think, but the Sox have the 9th oldest stadium in all of baseball. FWIW, #8 is the Sox almost home of the Trop. Yeah they've built so many new parks in the last 20 years, it's crazy. And honestly even though I've only been to two of them -- Safeco and Petco -- I'd trade just about every park built after for the one we get now. Except the Marlins park... F that place.
-
New Stadium. That always increases attendance, and really isn't 20 years long enough to go without a new stadium?
-
122 pitches for Verlander in a 6-0 game. Leyland scared to use his pen that much? Hopefully this burns out Verlanders arm for the ALCS (sigh, I know it won't. It NEVER does) Just trying to find a silver lining. Ugh. f*** Detroit so much. I hate rooting for the Yankees but they're the only team that could stop them. They play Baltimore they get 4 at Comerica, and its lights out.

My nightmare scenario of boredom is creeping up as possible: ALCS: Tigers (2006 World Series loser) vs. Yankees (2009 World Series winner) NLCS: Giants (2010 World Series winner) vs. Cardinals (2011 World Series winner) Zzzzzzzzzzzz. I want new blood in there! If the Sox can't be in the Series I want teams that haven't been in a long time in there....

Again it has nothing to do with Boras or Rizzo actually being concerned for his health. If they were they would try and get him to fix his mechanics (which is what is gonna hurt him again in the first place) They blew a GOLDEN opportunity in 2012.... There is every chance in the world the Nats don't even sniff October in 2013 and this looks 100x worse.

As fun an experiment as it would be to have 4 lefties in a rotation*, if you had to chose between Quintana and Santiago who would you choose? To me Hector is the clear choice. He has better stuff and seems to have a great approach mentally where he doesn't let small stuff get to him and could pitch over mistakes (coughFLOYDcough) the classic "bulldog" mentality. * I do however think Danks won't be ready to go by April... Just a hunch. If he is he certainly won't be 100% and throwing like he's shown he can at times in the past.

With the new Bad Books album released I think my 2012 albums are complete -- unless a new artist I've never heard of drops an album, always a possibility... now to narrow it down to a Top 10...

Havent had a chance to watch any of the games in full (Cut the cord so no tbs) but is it basically like it has been all season where Detroit just is not the same team on the road? Cause it certainly seemed that way just looking at the box score

If only the Nationals had an Ace with Nintendo like stuff on their active roster. Dumbasses.

Such horse s***.
