  1. I don't think you can discredit the fact that Beane's A's choked EVERY YEAR in the playoffs. I'm sure there are plenty of A's fan (and if I were one I image I'd fall into this category as well) that are kinda sick of the whole Moneyball thing cause it brought them nothing but heartbreak. I swear, if I only had two choices and two choices ALONE: Miss the playoffs or Get in the ALDS and get eliminated every time like the A's, no fantasy scenario where one of those times you win--you're out every time by the first round, I'd take miss the playoffs. The A's and more recently the Twins have kinda proven that in the playoffs big slugging and 100 mph fastballs win out in the end over the scrappy guys who play the "right way"/.OBP heavy teams. And in some cases (Red Sox, Yankees, Phillies...) Money wins come October.
  2. Bumping this thread cause I can haha.... So as I've mentioned a few times before (maybe even in this thread) I live about a block from the old hospital where they filmed Scrubs (and more recently Children's Hospital) and I'm sorry to report it's being demolished I'll try and snap some pics before it's all gone if anyone is interested. R.I.P. Sacred Heart
  3. I'm slowly on the Kuhn to replace Morel bandwagon.... Never happen, but I like things to shake up to get an offense going...
  4. It's really sad that I can't get excited about Beckham just yet. Even when he gets hits his approach screams lucky, and as long as Greg Walker is still employed and has Gordon's ear, I worry... If he can hit like a .320+ clip for a few weeks, I'll get happy, but this team, this year.... lotsa let downs...
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 03:58 PM) Caulfield said it earlier, but Juan's not the one at risk of being replaced by Viciedo anymore. He still should be. One's owed $5 mil the other $56 mil...
  6. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 12:58 PM) He's 0-7 on the year with the bases loaded, 1 BB 2 RBI I would have sworn it was at least 20 times at bat...
  7. Seriously is there a stat out there showing how many times a player comes to the plate in a single season with the bases loaded? I feel like Juan has set the all time record this year
  8. I'd still like to at least see his stuff... This team is so boring to me, seeing someone new is exciting and since Viciedo isn't an option apparently, Santiago is my only choice haha
  9. Still waiting for him to appear in a game haha....
  10. I'm sorry. What exactly has Juan Pierre done "right" to allow him to stay in the game? Dropping easy fly balls that cost us games? Being thrown out more times than youve actually stolen a base? Grounding out weakly to second or flying out to left with runners on second and third and less than two out? Or is it "right" to be the one that works so hard day in day out. First one in last one out and STILL SUCK AT BASEBALL is the reason Pierre can stay. Bulls***
  11. I'm so done with this team until WHOLESALE changes are made. I understand Ozzie won't be fired midseason, I get that, but at the very least Walker needs to go. Pierre is a no brainer. Maybe The Rios situation will explode and they have no choice but to get rid of him Changes MUST BE MADE AND MADE NOW. This cannot be stressed enough.
  12. I'd like to see a literal fire lit under everyone on the time... Get out the matches
  13. time for some VOTES OF CONFIDENCE TO EVERY MEMBER OF THE STAFF!
  14. WOW. Did Rios' soul inhabit Lillibridge? He was Mr. Defense all year long is he f***ing hurt too?
  15. Can the Rockies walk off already... Quit delaying the inevitable.... This game is boring me
  16. hahahahahahahaa "they're gonna wave him in on Juan Pierre's arm...." said with such disdain...I LOVE IT
  17. Okay can we just put a moratorium on douchey faux-hawks for baseball players? Enough is enough...
  18. I honestly root for Pierre to fail now. In all my years of watching White Sox baseball, I can say I've never done that. I root for JP to fail and the Sox to win despite him every time...
  19. SAVE the White Sox money in the long run, COST them the division in 2011. Sounds about right. f***
  20. Heyman was on the MLB Network talking about Carlos Beltran getting traded... Mentioned White Sox as a potential candidate, saying the Mets would be willing to pick up a lot of the contract if they got a good prospect in return. If KW does a Viciedo for Beltran deal I'm DONE with this team. Completely done.
  21. Thought this was pretty funny.... From The Onion
  22. Also, maybe don't open the voting ONE WEEK into the season. Maybe wait till June 1st. Here's my propositions that will NEVER happen: - Voting Begins June 1st - Voting can be done in ballparks as many times as you want - Voting online is limited to 5 per IP address - Players who have been on the disabled list for more than 30 days prior to June 1st are ineligible to receive votes and votes for those players will not count. or Just call it the FAN GAME from now on.
