  1. Looking at the list of pitching depth I made earlier, I forgot about the Rookie of the Year de Grom. They can't spare 1 or 2 young arms? They seem stacked on pitching.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 11, 2014 -> 04:26 PM) Colleen Kane ‏@ChiTribKane 34m34 minutes ago Hahn on Alexei Ramirez trade rumors: Will listen, but "it’s certainly not something we’re pursuing on our end or are eager to convert on." Good. Wait to get blown away
  3. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 11, 2014 -> 11:21 AM) interesting stats on kendrick, plus 9+ mil for a last yr. why not Danks, May and Beck. I'd do that deal and then flip him
  4. QUOTE (shysocks @ Nov 11, 2014 -> 11:14 AM) The Sox would have to give up some actual talent for Kendrick, even moreso if the Angels are taking on Danks, and Kendrick is a one year rental at a position where the Sox want to audition farm guys. Seems pretty unlikely. If they were able to put off a Danks for Kendrick swap somehow, they could always look to flip him somewhere else as he'd be easier to move than Danks.
  5. I think in the free agent prediction contest I had him going to the Angels
  6. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 11, 2014 -> 10:39 AM) only time will tell. Without the Yanks and Dodgers being on it (Dodgers not looking to give out any big contracts right now) I just can't see anyone driving up the price
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 11, 2014 -> 10:30 AM) I don't believe this for a second. It won't be as extreme as Gonzalez but I still don't think it'll be 6/144 which is what he was offered.
  8. Scherzer should have taken that contract extension from Detroit. I don't think he will get anything close to it. Reminds me of Juan Gonzalez
  9. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 11, 2014 -> 10:21 AM) bingo. Mets seem to have a lot of starting pitching depth Colon Gee Niese Wheeler Harvey Syndegaard Montero Familia Mejia (Though I'm not certain those last two are starters anymore) edit: looking at their top 10 prospects, there's guys I've never heard of who seem like they can be pretty good.
  10. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 11, 2014 -> 10:19 AM) i wonder who is going to blink first???? then there is the dodgers and oak We don't need to blink so it would have be them. We can hold out as long as possible for thr best offer.
  11. What if the Mets offered Montero, Gee to help fill out rotation and make room in New York, and another prospect? Thats the most realistic offer I could think of for Alexei.
  12. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 11, 2014 -> 12:06 AM) Lol, riiiiiight! Sox would be getting fleeced. Sounds like some of them enjoy speculating as much as some of us. I really don't see a deal happening. The Mets can upgrade elsewhere if they feel the Sox are asking for too much, which is fine with me since the Sox are not desperate to trade Alexei anyway. The only outfielder we could give them is Viciedo. I don't think they even have a need for an OF now though with Granderson, Lagares, and Cuddyer from left to right.
  13. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 05:41 PM) here are 2 question, what if any does Tor and Mets need. i love their minor leagues. Mets could use Alexei (or any short stop really) and giving up their first round draft pick for 2 years of Cuddyer means they want to compete now.
  14. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 01:30 PM) Toronto fans give themselves about a 0% chance of signing Sandoval. They believe AA cannot sign any big ticket FA or no big ticket FA has interest in Toronto. They want Russell Martin bad. I stick by my earlier comment of it coming down to us or the Red Sox. Giants will be in it towards the end of the race but an AL team will win due to being able to give him an extra year over what the Giants are offering.
  15. I would love to get one of their best young starters, Kevin Plawecki, and they could send Flores over for Alexei.
  16. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Nov 10, 2014 -> 04:09 PM) I wasn't sure about how many but I'm pretty sure you're right, there was plenty of bad reactions. To me, I thought the Sox did well considering Santiago was mostly a two pitch pitcher with a show me kind of slider and had a heck of a time staying in the strike zone. I think at one point towards the end of the 2013 season he managed to piss of Coop. I'm not against this depending on the return but who the hell plays SS? The idea of Semien or Sanchez playing SS is very unsettling. I suppose the Sox could sign Drew? Hanley? Lowrie? Maybe Asdrubal Cabrera? Sign him to a 3-4 year deal and flip him when Anderson is ready.
  17. I know that Sandoval isn't exactly a skinny guy, but I wouldn't put him on the same level as Prince Fielder. I think Pablo tends to lose weight in the off-season and sort of gains it back throughout the course of the season. I remember a pic was posted somewhere around spring training of a thinner Panda.
  18. Preference of which I'd want in a deal: 1. Kemp DH/OF 2. Crawford OF 3. Ethier DH/OF/1B
  19. QUOTE (oldsox @ Nov 8, 2014 -> 05:06 PM) Me too. Good fielder and base runner. In addition to your comments, he doesn't knock in a lot or runs. I don't know his RISP stats but my recollection is that Braves put him at leadoff mid season just for that reason. Doesn't make him a bad guy, but Sox would not be getting Mr. Clutch. Still, He would make the Sox a better team. He has spent time over the past few seasons in the leadoff spot too though which would lead to less rbi opportunities in the nl. I think hitting in different spots in the order kind of changes your approach as well. Still before his prime too.
  20. If you trade for Samardzija and can't workout an extension during this off-season or mid-season, you can at least offer a qualifying offer next off-season while still trying to work out a deal for him to come back so you can at least re-coup something if he were to sign somewhere else from a potential deal.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 8, 2014 -> 03:24 AM) Avy Montas and Rondon wasn't good enough? At the time Montas and Rondon were just kinda throw in not expected to do anything. They've really started to develop after we got them.
  22. No way they deal Gattis. They have a catching prospect they want to move up and by creating room, they are likely to deal Heyward (let's get him!) or Upton as they are both free agents after this season. Gattis would then move back to the outfield where he can play more as opposed to being the catcher.
  23. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 7, 2014 -> 10:14 AM) 1 the sox better do better than 1 - top 100 prospect. 2. Drew forget about it. I would rather deal with it in house and if need be go fa market in 2016. Or Asdrubal Cabrera as I forgot he has no draft pick attached to him. Could sign him to a 3-4 year deal then trade him after year 2 or 3?
  24. They're a team thin on infield prospects right? Anyone think they'd take Danks and Sanchez in a deal? To be clear, not for Samardzija but in a deal potentially for someone else? Just curious because they did pay both Cespedes and Johnson about $20 mill combined last season and Danks in under control for two more years and can probably pitch well in that ballpark.
  25. If we trade Alexei, we need to get at least one top 100 out of it. As far as replacement goes, grab Stephen Drew as a stop gap. No draft pick loss, good defensively at short and honestly I don't really trust 2 young players up the middle when they were both pretty shoddy defensively last season.
