BOOM! -
Maybe they can plan around it to get him some rest. Make his last start July 9th, let him pitch an inning (or 2) in the ASG July 11th, and then let him make his first start after on July 23rd. Basically 2 weeks off without putting him on IL.

Trade value! -
That feels like a lot for the O's to give up for Crochet, with his injury history and 2 years of control. They would get him for a half season more than if they traded for Cease in the off-season, but also may be facing an innings limit with Garrett this year. Maybe if you added a reliever or included Fedde as well (how many pitchers do they need)?
-
Dear God, I was referring to the Cease trade lol the bitterness of some fans here because their GM didn’t overpay. No GM paid close to the hypothetical deals proposed here so it’s weird.
-
Because they didn’t overpay (which would have been a mistake if they had paid up what was proposed here) for Cease? Their GM rocked that s%*# perfectly and still has ammo to trade for more.

When the rest of the team blows, it doesn’t matter.

There was a graphic shown last year (if someone finds it, that would be great) that showed how many employees were in each analytics department and sales teams. Teams like the Astros, Dodgers, Rays, Cubs, Yankees(?) were significantly higher in analytics than the White Sox. It was an embarrassingly low number in comparison. It was the opposite for the sales team: Sox were significantly higher than those other teams. The Rays literally have a blueprint for how to spend cheaply on players and be successful and Jerry's like "Nah, I'm good."
-
A lot of sales people. Put a good product on the field and the team sells tickets itself.
-
You would think so since this actually one of the couple successes. But it's probably because he was drafted pre-Getz GM days.
-
One can argue the new bullshit playoff format hurt them last year. There’s no benefit finishing with one of the two best records and not playing 3-4 days in a row and then having to play a team that just grinded their way into next round.
-
Exactly what I was thinking.
-
No, they are not policing the upper deck. You can probably wait until day of and buy on Stubhub.

Nah, I blame them all.
-
The problem is, most teams (likely) don't have 6-7 in their top 10 that should be worth those two. Better to split them up.

The way you keep pushing this makes me believe this is actually something that is being strongly considered. And to that, I say: f*** Jerry Reinsdorf.
