They lost 1-0 and 2-1. They literally lost that series because of their hitting, or lack of. I agree that they don’t go far with the pitching they have but the reason they aren’t in the next round isn’t because of the pitching.

Yeah, didn't they overpay a couple starters? I'm pretty sure their signing of Seth Lugo was laughed at here. Dude put up a 5.3 WAR season. And Michael Wacha signed for $16,450,000 which, in the offseason, looked like an overpay for him but he put up a 3.5 WAR year. Edit: actually, after looking at his career stats, I take back the bolded.

Cease was an option all off and pre-season is what he meant. They could have honestly traded for Burnes and Cease.

If the Sox finish 1 or 2 games under .500 against each the Royals, Tigers, and Twins (I think even 3 or 4 for one of those teams), I’m pretty sure Guardians are the only ALC team in the postseason.

Kinda crazy how bad the Sox were affected the playoff picture. If they were a somewhat competent org (or just at all), Seattle and Boston probably make it over Detroit and Royals. Regardless, both those teams about to get whooped.

I agree that if he will sign for under that estimate, it’s whatever. Also wouldn’t be upset if they non-tendered to go with someone for a $1M or 2. Next year is going to suck and Vaughn doesn’t move the needle either way.

I actually thought he was a great fit to platoon (.772 OPS against LHP) in Houston with Singleton (.773 OPS against RHP), but then you're limiting your bench with a 1B only player (not that their primary DH can't play the OF I guess).
